In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
Make a joyful noise unto the lord, all ye lands.
serve the lord with gladness: coMe before his presence with singing.
know ye that the lord he is god: it is he that hath Made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto hiM, and bless his naMe.
for the lord is good; his Mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Have a Blessed and Joyous Thanksgiving Day!

Keep Pressing
Ten months of this year have passed and is behind us now. Along with it have also passed some disappointments, some heartaches, some ups and some downs. In spite of what has already happened this year, all is not lost. We still have plenty to be thankful for. We are to forget those things which are behind and keep pressing forward. We have to stay strong and keep the faith. As we look back over these last ten months, I’m sure we all can say that God never left us alone; and if we stay strong and keep pressing the Bible tells us that God will never leave us or forsake us.
Life is full of trials and tribulations and there have been many things that happened and did not happen this year that could have wiped us out. But we are still here. We are still here because God is in control. God is in control of everything that concerns us, and God cares about everything that concerns us; and for that alone, we should have an attitude of gratitude.
I have discovered that while God is on our side, He has also equipped us for this journey. God has provided us with tools to help us make it through the journey. So now we just need strength for the journey. We can draw our strength from the Word of God. The Bible teaches us that we get strength from the Lord in a number of ways. There are three that I would like to
point out . . . prayer, patience and perseverance.
Prayer. Prayer changes things and the Word of God tells us that, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
Patience. Patience is defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. “But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope”; Romans 5:3-4
Perseverance. Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
We can obtain strength for the journey by always holding on to God’s unchanging hand and trusting and believing in His promises through His Word. With ten months already gone, I will agree that it is very difficult to hold on to what you were believing God to do in your life this year. I’m sure you remember all the declarations you made New Year’s Day full of hope and expectations. But if we hold on and faint not, we will see the salvation of the Lord. We have to remember
EPPSJackie
that God is able to supply all of our needs. God will take care of us and He will not forsake us. God will not fall short on His promises. If we remain faithful to Him, He will be faithful to us. God has not forgotten you nor is He worried about this year that only has two months left to go. God is still able to do exceeding abundantly above all you could ever ask or think.
So, I encourage you to not throw in the towel on this year, because suddenly God can turn things around, suddenly God can do a new thing, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (I Corinthians 2:9)
Peace and Blessings

Lady Tamara J. McCain Overseer
Overseer Tobias McCain Talks About His 5-Year Pastoral Journey
Describe your five-year journey. This has been a journey; however, the Lord has been faithful. In 2019 I assumed the role of pastorship. Though I was nervous, hesitant, and even fearful, I submitted to the instruction and voice of the Lord to pursue this level of ministry. I honestly did not know what to do and contrary to the belief of those that assumed I was eager to become a pastor, I actually enjoyed being a traveling evangelist, preaching the gospel around the world. I always knew I would one day pastor, but I did not think it would happen the way it did. In my mind, I thought I had it all figured out; however, God’s plan was greater, and He called me to fulfill this assignment.
The state of the ministry today.
Temple Of Praise Church is what I classify as a young, thriving, diverse ministry built on the foundation of holiness while embracing generations through the love of Jesus Christ. God specifically told me that my assignment was to bridge the gap between traditionalist and contemporary believers to uphold the principles and foundations of godly living. It is my assignment to ensure the nurturing and wisdom of the seasoned saints is not abandoned while ensuring the vibrancy and the everevolving ideas of the younger generation is not disregarded or forsaken. For this cause, we are currently rebuilding and restructuring things within our ministry. Through this process we are turning our focus to refocusing the saints to recommit themselves to the service of the Lord. I remind our ministry that this is not a church centered on titles and positions; however, we are a church that positions people to do kingdom work! Temple Of Praise Church Of Baltimore is classified as a 3G Ministry as we are “Going, Glowing & Growing.” Our motto is “We are the church where a stranger finds a friend and a sinner finds the Lord and everybody is somebody in Christ Jesus.”
Challenges, Struggles, Proudest Accomplishments.
Within these five years of pastoring, I have endured many challenges and struggles. In transparency, I was ready to walk away my first year of pastoring due to the personal circumstances that I was experiencing. During year one of pastoring, my cousin was murdered and my 9-year-old niece committed suicide. Within that same year, the original group I started with left the ministry to pursue other ministry endeavors. Grief had hit hard and was intensified after losing my niece. I could not come to grips with how I could encourage and teach others about faith when I was at a point of heavy disappointment. As the first year was closing, I was blessed to meet my wife while ministering at a revival service in the fall of 2020. It seems that things were shifting for the better but honestly what was coming was a hit that I am still processing. In March 2021, as I was preparing to marry my wife, my father took ill. Within two days of my honeymoon, we had to return home to deal with a reality that my father was transitioning. I will never forget being away as newlyweds and receiving the call that my father’s health had taken a negative turn for the worse. Though we were in the midst of being on our honeymoon, my wife decided that we must return home immediately. It is imperative that you marry the one that God has for you. Truly, I am thankful for an anointed, God-appointed wife. My father transitioned to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday morning. What a hard hit! Honestly, a part of me passed with him, but through the prayers and encouragement of my wife as well as the support of my congregation, I was able to move forward. Though years one through three was seemingly a tumultuous rollercoaster, the Lord blessed my wife and I to expand our family with

the birth of our daughter. Truth be told, these five years have taught me to not lead from my emotions but from the Spirit of God and to remain teachable. I do not want to paint a negative narrative on the last five years. Though sometimes it felt as if all the weight of the world was on my shoulders, I was encouraged by the word of God in knowing that I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. There have also been many great ministry accomplishments. We have been able to see many souls be saved and rededicated to the Lord Jesus Christ. We have married numerous couples, dedicated numerous babies to the Lord, and baptized over 100 souls. We have also been engaged in community through various events reaching over 300 souls. Additionally, we instituted a Sunday School Program thus strengthening a strong Christian education ministry to empower every generation to draw closer to God.
There are many things taking place both personally and at Temple of Praise Church of Baltimore. Truly, we are grateful to see the Lord’s plan unfolding.
Effects of the pandemic on the ministry. This is a question I have been asked often, and honestly, I do not know pastoral ministry prior to the pandemic. All of my first significant ministry moments (i.e. Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Resurrection Sunday, etc.) were during the pandemic. I started pastoring while many ministries were folding and closing. I had a mandate from God to build while doors for some were being sealed. I can remember many people that were upset at the fact I never closed the doors of our ministry during the pandemic. Though I did follow the governmental requirements and mandates, I did not close the doors to the ministry. While the pandemic was a setback for many ministries, I found myself using the technology and virtual platforms as empowering grounds to engage with many souls while we strengthened the outreach of our ministry. We supplied food, detergent, and many other valuable resources to help people to adjust to the new realities of life due to the pandemic. Truth be told, God sent an increase to our ministry during the pandemic. I believe the pandemic while causing pain stretched not only my faith, but also the faith of the believers.
Advice or wisdom to someone contemplating starting a ministry. I have been blessed and humbled by God to equip and train several of my leaders to accept their call
to ministry and birth their ministries under my leadership. One of the main things I always say is pastoring is more than preaching, parking spaces, and pictures on a flyer. One must really be called to the work of the Lord. One should always know that restoring souls and building the kingdom is the main priority. I encourage them to make sure that they are as engulfed in the business of the church as much as they are in the service portion. It is imperative that we understand people are not obligated to come but as leaders we are obligated to feed!
Additionally, even though preaching is good, to grow a healthy church, one must have programs in place that will equip and teach them how to live a wholesome life as a believer. I also make it clear that growing a healthy church takes time and that one should not look at how many people they have attending services but actually focus on how much time they put into their church. One must put time and effort into growing. Some people will not come to you, but you should always be ready to go to them. Also, it is equally important to constantly review the bylaws and ordinances established for your church. One should never be so spiritual that the business of the ministry is in shambles. The church belongs to GOD and so do we! Lastly, if you are desiring to pastor, make sure it is God calling you and not people pushing you!

Lady Tamara McCain Speaks
As I reflect on your five-year journey, I must take us back to the beginning of when I started walking with you. What a journey so far it has been. Learning the ways of ministering with you has been a joy to watch and see. Taking on a 14-year-old male whom right away you called your son without second guessing. You took him under your wing and taught him the word of God and how to walk upright in the Lord. 2021 you were just stepping into your second year and now with a wife and son. With everyone not on board with your decision, you knew the choice you made for yourself, and ministry was a good choice, and I thank you for that.
The pandemic took us by storm but you, my sweet, dedicated husband did not let the shutdown stop you from praising the Lord. In fact, you continued to pray for many. Laying hands to visiting the sick, or even with just dropping off anointing oil for those who desired it. Just from the beginning, watching you made me say yes to being your wife. As we moved forward to our wedding day, and we said our ‘I dos’ it was now time to walk together as one. Life began to take you by storm, just a few weeks after the wedding you had to bury your best friend. The man who raised you and taught you about God and how to stand and be a true man of God departed this life. In that moment you asked God WHY? I have watched you go from being at the top of your ministry to places where you needed God even the more, but your Faith never wavered! Taking time away from the pulpit to allow God to restore you again was truly remarkable. Never have I ever seen you bleed on the people, you pastored, and for that I know God and your Dad Deacon Barnett are very proud of you.
As we journey down to your 3rd year of Pastoring, we welcomed our baby girl into this world, and you became a dad a second time around. Not knowing what life was about to bring, you jumped right into fatherhood once again. As time passed the real lessons began to pour in. Witnessing you handle betrayal after betrayal try to overtake you and
people mishandling your anointing, you stood on God’s word and kept pushing. It’s the push in you that keeps our family pushing. The devil thought he could knock you down BUT GOD kept his hand on you. Forgiveness is your name; I’ve watched you forgive time after time because the Lord requires you to do so, and for that I’m proud of you.
Now as we fast forward to your 5th year of Pastoring, what can I say. Eyes have not seen, nor ears heard all that God has in store for you. Your time and commitment to serving the Lord does not go unnoticed. You have given effortlessly to people, community, and ministry and I look forward to see what God is going to do for you in this 5th year and the years to come. Never give up, Never give in. Keep being an example of living Holy and Righteous and watch God continue to show you Favor, Grace, and Mercy my Love!

A Call to Care
It’s that time of year again. The Hallmark Christmas movies are queued up, people are shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, and the toy and gift advertisements are in full swing. All of these bring joy to many who wait with anticipation for the seasons to change and welcome the food, festivities, family, friends and fun. But it is also a time when those who are caregivers are recognized for their dedication, commitment and most of all their care of loved ones including family and friends. This has been a normal part of our culture, but it is often overlooked. One of the first steps is for caregivers to ask for help but that is often a challenge because they do not want to be a burden to others.
The call to care for those in our community is not new but with the increase in so many health concerns and the lack of resources to help those in need have resulted
in those in the caregiver role being overwhelmed and often financially stressed. This can result in anxiety, depression and health issues for the caregiver as well. Those who are called to care must take a proactive role in their own care and well-being. Often signs you need a break may be troubles with sleep, frequent sadness, headaches, neglecting personal care or skipping meals. Facing the holidays as a caregiver can be challenging but also be a time of refreshing with built in times to take a break and celebrate with others.
There are a few ways caregivers and those who support them can learn to incorporate self-care into their daily or weekly routine. Giving people a break is the best way to support them as well. We can help them reach their self-care goals by not only giving them a break from their duties but also by being
a listening ear and source of encouragement. Many organizations provide respite to those in need. Reaching out to the community and national organizations for the activities that are available through webinars, support groups and information sharing can be a great source of help and can answer many of the questions you may have as it relates to caring for your loved one. More ways caregivers can release their stress beyond finding community is to be active by finding something you enjoy, make time to relax, keep up with your medical appointments, be kind to yourself, do not pressure yourself to be perfect, and attend your worship services in person or virtually. Doing all or a combination of these things along with reaching out for help will keep caregivers committed to the call to care. For more information check out www.nia.nih.gov.

Stress Less Starting NOW!
Even though stress is not normally considered a mental health problem, I do believe according to www.Mind. org, that stress is connected to our mental health in several ways. Remember, stress is layered. It affects us mentally, physically and emotionally. As you know stress can cause mental health problems, and it can make existing problems worse. As a certified stress management coach, when thinking about mental health and how to stay serene in turbulent times, we cannot forget about how stress affects us.
According to a study at www.MentalHealth.org, 51 percent of adults that felt stressed reported feeling depressed, and 61 percent reported feeling anxious. Of the people that said they had felt stress at some point in their lives, 16 percent had harmed themselves and 32 percent said they had had suicidal thoughts and feelings. Just because a person is dealing with stress doesn’t mean something is wrong with them. What is important is how we handle stress and replace bad habits with better ones.
It is important for me to help individuals alleviate stress because I believe everyone has been created for and in purpose. I want to see men and women maximize their full potential and embrace their purpose without feeling unworthy. I don’t want stress to stop you from experiencing those wins and victories in life.
When I had poor stress management, I experienced insomnia, anxiety, hair loss and unhealthy fluctuations with my weight. One scripture I kept close to me during that time and even now is Matthew 6:34 that says, “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Not only did I depend upon this scripture, but also, I implemented some life changing stress relief techniques, and I want to share them with you too! It’s time to stress less starting NOW!
One simple way to relieve stress is get sun before 11 a.m. This is important because it will increase levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that affects our mood, cognition and memory. When serotonin is increased, we are more focused, creative and a joy to be around.
A second way to relieve stress is to give and receive hugs, because they are so powerful and an immune booster. They also help to reduce stress and decrease depression, so start hugging.
A third way to relieve stress is by speaking affirmations that
shift our energy and mindset to see the bigger picture instead of focusing all our time and energy on the situation we are going through. It helps to see the rainbow through the rain.
When thinking of stressing less, try increasing endurance. When we have bad habits, it weakens our endurance and our ability to be effective. It is dangerous to bottle up stress. What people may not understand is that we can look good on the outside, but we also feel things happening inwardly. When we know that something isn’t right, our heart is having palpitations and shortness of breath, and we are not sleeping well—that is a layered effect. Taking care of yourself and your mental state is a serious matter.
Stress in the black community is also high! There are so many things that we have to face in our communities, and there are times in which we feel like we are alone, we are isolated, and we’re the only ones going through it. Or we have this ego or pride that tells us even though we know we need to reset or reach out and ask for help, it’s like I’m superwoman or superman.
One of the things my mother, grandmother, and auntie would say is, “It takes a village to raise a child”, but it also takes a village for a community to thrive. One of the things we must do is ask for help and know that it’s OK, it doesn’t make us weak or incompetent. We have to be open to receiving, sometimes that’s hard for us because we’ve had to work so hard to get the things that we have. We also have to be open to various professions of people that can aid and provide help and resources — whether it’s a life coach, a therapist, or a counselor. We have to be able to talk to someone, open up, feel safe, and be flexible in our ability to give and receive.
So, my question to you is what stressors are you dealing with currently? Remember, when alleviating stress, the goal is not how well you can multitask, but do you have healthy habits and routines in place to deal with stress. Take care of your mental health, including the stressors in your life!

DAILY DEVOTIONS
(Excerpts
from NEW DAY FRESH START- by Brandie
Manigault)
DAY 1
Would you do what you do if no one ever knew your name? Would you do what you love to do if you never had a promise of reward? The woman with the alabaster box sacrificed, poured out her love for Jesus from her heart; not looking for anything in return. She wanted to show Jesus what He meant to her, and although He promised, “What this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her”, her name, Mary, is only mentioned once in the Gospels, and twice she is called ‘a woman’. Will you be ok if future generations see your wonderful acts and only a few attributed it to you and others call you this man or this woman? Challenge: Today challenge yourself to think about the motivation behind what you do. Are you doing it for notoriety or because you love it?
Matthew 26:6-7, 12-13, “And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table... For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
* ...a woman came having an alabaster flask... (Mark 14:3)
*Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard... (John 12:3)
DAY 2
You are worth it. Sometimes people will place value on you or believe in you to a level that you don’t feel you deserve. They honor your word as truth, they believe in your dreams, and push you to do it. They may give you gifts that, to you and possibly to others around you, seem too much to accept, but you are worth it. They see in you what God sees in you and they have chosen to partner with Him in His vision for your life. Challenge: Today challenge yourself to believe that you are worth the investment of someone else’s time, faith, and resources. Matthew 26:7-10 NIV, “... a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.”
DAY 3
You don’t know what you are capable of until you do it. It is so important to live a balanced life. We can never lean so far in one direction that, in our own eyes, we think that we are too “good” to do something “bad” or too “bad” to do something “good”. What have you told yourself that you would never do and what have you said that you’d never be good enough to do? Dependence on the Lord for wisdom, discernment and grace is vitally important as
we encounter each situation. We all have the potential to do great things, make an impact on our society, and influence lives; but because we are humans we are not above giving in to temptation. This is why we must surround ourselves with people who will help us keep a balanced perspective and who will always speak truth to us.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to be balanced in your view of yourself.
Matthew 26:33-34, “Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.” Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
DAY 4
Do you know who you are? Do you know that other people will question your identity just to see if you will confirm or deny their suspicions of you? Everyone sees that within you lies the strength to fight, the faith to believe for the “impossible”, and the wisdom to navigate through tough situations. They already know that you possess authority, influence, and the ability to shift an atmosphere with your presence. You are who you are, and you cannot deny it. You are a world changer and a history maker. You leave your mark everywhere you go. People will question you to see if you know what they know about you. Don’t disappoint them with your answer.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to respond with confidence about your identity the next time someone asks you who you are.
Matthew 27:11a, “Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.”
DAY 5
Do not defend yourself. Your accusers know who you really are and will try desperately to discredit you, make you believe something about you that is not true, or put you in a position where your words will do more harm than good. They are aware of your track record of honesty and integrity. They know that things change for the better when you are around. Your influence is undeniable. Some of their accusations may be true and some may be baseless, have no power, and hold no truth. No matter what, you stand your ground in silence. In time you will be vindicated, and all will know the truth.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to let your defense strategy be silence.
Matthew 27:12, “And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.”

Prescription Drugs VS Herbal Preparations: Make an Informed Decision
The number of prescriptions issued for medications has nearly doubled in recent years. In 2009, the number of prescriptions dispensed was almost 3.95 billion; in 2022, the number of prescriptions dispensed was around 6.7 billion. This substantial increase can be attributed to several factors. Better access to healthcare providers, presence of chronic conditions, access to copays, and cost support through insurance benefits.
It’s estimated that about 66% of the U.S. population takes one or more prescription drugs. Data suggests that the average number of medications taken is four among those who take prescription medications. More than 131 million Americans take at least one prescription medication.
Studies show that prescription usage increases with age. Likewise, gender influences prescription drug use. Females have a higher rate of prescription drug usage.
The rise in prescription use has many individuals wondering if natural or herbal medicines are a better treatment choice for disorders. Herbal medications are derived from plants and usually do not contain potentially harmful additives. Some “drug-like” plant remedies have therapeutic actions similar to conventional medicines. Many cultures use herbal preparations to control symptoms of disorders, and these remedies are passed down through the generations.
Herbal preparations are generally gentler on the body. Natural treatments result in fewer side effects when taken at the recommended doses. By using a natural drug instead of a pharmaceutical one, you may be able to reduce your reliance on synthetic medications and avoid their possible side effects. Medicinal plants possess antioxidant activities. Herbal medicine’s antioxidant properties can be beneficial in treating various conditions, including cancer, memory deficit, Alzheimer’s, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and other cardiovascular diseases. Antioxidant activities of herbal medicines also effectively reduce the toxicities of different medications,
producing fewer side effects than other drugs.
Traditional drug therapy is directed toward addressing symptoms caused by specific diseases. In contrast, herbal medicine therapy usually aids the body’s healing process. Herbal medicines typically support the organs and tissue processes that have become deficient or attempt to help eliminate increased metabolic substances that are hindering normal tissue functioning.

Are natural drugs for you? Discuss your medication treatment options with your health care provider or an herbalist. Many providers recommend using herbal preparations along with traditional medication therapy. NEVER ABRUPTLY STOP TAKING A PRESCRIBED MEDICATION. Thoroughly investigate potential herbs that can be beneficial to your health. Use caution. New or unproven remedies should be avoided. The FDA categorizes herbal medicine as food instead of a drug, so alternative medicine isn’t heavily regulated or required to meet the same manufacturing, testing, or labeling standards as pharmaceuticals. Herbal products aren’t subjected to clinical trials or other testing and manufacturing requirements like pharmaceuticals. Herbal medicine labels can’t claim that the product will treat a specific, health-related issue. For example, green tea supplements are thought to be an excellent aid for weight loss. A green tea supplement label might say, “supports healthy weight management,” but the label can’t claim that the product will make you lose weight. Do not neglect to incorporate a healthy diet, exercise, stress reduction, and sleep plan in your daily activities. These elements will support your journey in achieving a better health status.

Tip 1
Let’s be clear... Christmas is not a surprise or an emergency. It literally comes at the same time every single year. Be prepared! Not only for Christmas, but also birthdays, anniversaries and any other occasion you may celebrate with gifts or trips or anything that will cost money. Start saving now and don’t get yourself in a hole by letting these things “sneak up” on you. You’ll sleep so much better knowing you won’t be hit with a bunch of bills in January! #prepare #beready #makegoodchoices
Tip 2
A scarcity mindset will have us constantly focused on what we think we need, because “there’s not enough.” However, when we choose to intentionally practice being grateful for what we DO have, we are no longer fixated on what we don’t have. To get started, try writing down a few things at the end of each day that you’re thankful for.
Tip 3
The best way to get more of what you want is to be grateful for what you have. I heard Bishop Dale Bronner say that persistence will help you get something, consistency will help you keep it, and gratitude will attract more of it. Be intentional about your attitude of gratitude today! For the good things, in spite of the bad things, the big things, the little things, and even the things you don’t have yet... gratitude attracts abundance!
