03 The key concept of this project is communal living through sharing spaces. One of the focal points of my design is the shared lounge and study space. Here residence can social and integrate into a community-like environment. The space consists of 4 seating areas that provide various functions, from socialising to watching TV. I have also included a pool table to encourage fun and an alternative activity. In addition to the lounge space, I have created a study space for residence to continue work at home. What makes this scheme unique is its bi folding door system that separates both areas. The doors can retract from different sides to make the study area larger or more private. Additionally, it retracts parallel to the lounge, meaning the space can open and involve the communal space. This would could be used for various functions and get together that may require a larger space. The scheme saves space by its ability to meet different needs. Through soundproofing materials in the walls such as rockwool insulation, known for its noise control, the space is practical, and residence should not be disturbed by the activities around them. The colour scheme of this space focuses on a gender-neutral palette, therefore appealing to the majority. The choice choice of grey, turquoise and neutrals echoes a sophisticated and modern taste, which attracts the young and creative client my design is reaching. Materials such as velvet, parquet wood and marble provide a stylish and comfortable environment that reside can relax in.
