Precious Memories

Mom’s Favorite Things

Memories of Mom

From Joseph

One day as I was eating dinner, I decided that I only wanted to drink juice. Of course I knew that in my house food came before drinking. My mom left the table and when she came back she realized that the food was in the plate, but the cup had disappeared. After a few minutes searching for the cup, she located it in the kitchen sink. My mom looked at me and said “tell me the truth, how did the cup reach in the sink.” I answered, “I don’t know mom”. After asking a few more times, she got frustrated and said “Joseph, did the cup walk or run in the sink.” I said, no mommy, it JUMPED!”

Memories of Mom From Andrew

One thing I can say about mom is that she is my favorite drummer. She was a woman that loved the drum set. Drumming is one of my many passions, and to know that my mom could share that passion with me is special. I remember one year we were at convocation at Gospel Tabernacle in Brooklyn, New York and service was starting. I started to play the drums and after two minutes my mom came and snatched me up and I cried; but as the years passed I used that experience to practice and focus on my gift. I am the musician she wanted me to be and I thank her for giving me this gift. Love you Mom.

From Rachel

One of the most touching experiences with my mom was in the month of May, the beginning of May to be exact. I was going through a lot of pain and so was my mom. In her weakness, she said “Rachel, come let me pray for you.” Walking over to my mom, I started to see the real pain in her eyes. I was hesitant, but she beckoned me to come. As I joined her on the couch, she started to rub my belly and pray for me. The anointing of God came over her and shortly after, my pain had subsided. I fell asleep right there in her lap. There is nothing like a mother’s touch.
