Obituary

esmin Thompson nĂŠe Park was born on March 15, 1945 to Inez Bailey and Sterling Park in Clarendon Jamaica. She was the first of nine children for Inez and the second of seven children for Sterling Park. Hesmin spent her early years in Clarendon, looking after her maternal siblings as her mother had migrated to England. She had two sons while in Clarendon, Raymond Lewis Greaves (deceased April 11, 2018) and Linval Davidson. She worked at Denbigh as a cook for a short time. Her sister Dell (deceased) got her a job in Ocho Rios in 1967 at Brooklyn Inn restaurant. While in Ocho Rios she met Charles Thompson Sr. in 1971. They had two children together and later married in 1976. During the marriage, she operated a cook shop at Pineapple Place and then became a craft vendor at the Ocho Rios Craft Park. Hesmin and Charles got a divorce later on. Hesmin focused on taking care of her children, running her craft shop, traveling to Haiti and Miami to buy goods for her business. She also ran many partners (savings clubs) not without challenges over the years. Her son Charles filed for her and she became a resident of the USA in 2007. She would visit for six months and stayed with her friend Dotilda Small. In 2012 she

migrated the USA permanently with Dotilda, then she moved to Miramar in December of 2012 with her daughter, grand-daughter and great grandson. Hesmin became a member of Ebenezer Deliverance Temple in 2013 and she enjoyed worshiping here. She spoke about God every chance she got. She developed kidney failure and was on dialysis for a year and a half then on January 16, 2017 she received a kidney transplant. During her retirement, she enjoyed a little gardening, sewing, and going to functions at her church. Hesmin travelled to Jamaica on May 25 for her son Raymond’s Funeral on May 26. She became ill on Tuesday, May 29 and was taken to St. Ann’s Bay hospital. She was being transferred to the Falmouth Hospital and on the way she died. Hesmin will be missed by her immediate family, church family, sisters, brothers and other relatives. Proverbs 31:10 states, who can find a virtuous woman for her price is above rubies ... May her soul rest in eternal peace.

When We All Get to Heaven Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.

Refrain: When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory! While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav’ling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay. Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold.

We’re Marching to Zion

Come, we that love the Lord, And let our joys be known; Join in a song with sweet accord, And thus surround the throne.

Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, Beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching upward to Zion, The beautiful city of God. The sorrows of the mind Be banished from the place; Religion never was designed To make our pleasures less. Let those refuse to sing, Who never knew our God; But children of the heav’nly King May speak their joys abroad. The men of grace have found Glory begun below; Celestial fruits on earthly ground From faith and hope may grow. The hill of Zion yields A thousand sacred sweets Before we reach the heav’nly fields, Or walk the golden streets. Then let our songs abound, And every tear be dry; We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground To fairer worlds on high.

1st Lesson 2 Corinthians 5: 1-10 (KJV)

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

2

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

3

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

4

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

5

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

6

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

7

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

8

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

9

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

20

She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

26

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

27

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

28

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Letting Go

It’s hard to let go of someone you’ve loved for so long. When death just walks up and suddenly she’s gone. Knowing that we will never see you tomorrow, fills our hearts with such great pain and sorrow. We have to believe this is only for the best Because you have finally gone to eternal rest. Now that it has happened and come to an end, We have to believe you are resting in God’s hands.

Smiling Faces

Sister Hesmin’s friends and family called her a beautiful Christian woman both inside and outside. She was loving, kind, caring, giving, and most of all a worshipper, as well as a child of God. Sister Hesmin praised the Lord both day and night, whether in the bus, at church, at home, or on the phone. She was hurting with pain, but was always smiling and praising God. The most memorable thing about her was her smiling face. Hesmin is now smiling in the bosom of the Lord. You will always be in our hearts, gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace
