Pentab's: It's Harvest Time Missions Conference

Page 1

Pastor’ s GREETING Greetings in the Majestic Name of our Lord Jesus, It is my delight to welcome you to the First Missions Conference for Pentecostal Tabernacle. We are truly thankful to God for His continued blessings in our lives. We have convened under the theme, “It’s Harvest Time” as it brings to memory our Mission Statement, “To proclaim the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ to all men,” which the Lord laid on my heart when He birthed this ministry. In our world today we are confronted with a harvest that is indeed great. As Christ mentioned in Luke 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” There is a desperate need for a move of God that will shake this world and bring souls to the cross, a move of God that will redeem lost souls and set captives free. The goal for this conference is to strengthen, equip and mobilize laborers that will step into the vineyard of God. There has never been a more urgent season than now for us to come together to accomplish this. Through the help of God, we will go forward and change the world through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May the Lord richly bless and renew our faith for the great works that we have been called to do. Sincerely, Pastor S. Robert Stewart

MISSION CONFERENCE

Greetings MINISTER OF EVANGELISM

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, even Jesus our Lord. I would like to convey my heartfelt greetings to the church in the mighty Name of Jesus. “Harvest Time” is typically very exciting as this is when a farmer reaps what was sown, and it’s usually a time of great celebration. Before harvest, however, there are seasons of sowing and watering which are critical for the success of the harvest. God declares Himself as “Lord of the Harvest” in Matthew 9 and tells us who does the reaping in Matthew 13. Today’s church struggles with the cares of life and the things of the world, just as the parable states in Matthew 13, and this happens because we are not focused on our task. The church sometimes seems to be moving in many directions, trying many programs, attempting many tasks, but getting further away from its mission. Reaping is not our mission, but rather sowing and watering. Our mission is clearly defined in Mark 16:15 “… Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” We need to be moved with compassion for our neighbors, colleagues and classmates, and this will propel us to fulfill The Great Commission. We need to pray that the “Lord of the Harvest” sends forth laborer’s, including us. My thanks to Pastor Stewart, the leaders and members of the Evangelism team, and to our congregation and fellow laborer’s in Christ Jesus for your efforts and service to the King. However, we have not arrived at a point where we can be complacent and sit back and relax. There is still much work to be done, and we must pray that God continues to give us “His Heart”. We need the eyes of Christ to see the lostness of people, the compassion of Christ to feel pity for people, and the expectancy and hopefulness of Christ t h a t anticipates harvest time. Our God specializes in things thought impossible. The new birth experience is a miracle. God uses unwanted, castaway, broken, and imperfect people like you and I to produce a plentiful harvest. It is a miracle waiting to happen. We need to be available to Him. Let us pray to that end. Yours in Service to Lord of the Harvest, Christopher Plummer IT’S HARVEST TIME

Conference SPEAKER My walk with God started in 1985 in Guyana with The UPC. I have been in the ministry for over 33 years. I attended Bible School under former Missionary D. D. Dawson. Preached and pastored two churches in Guyana. In 1996 myself and family moved to neighboring Suriname. We started a church in Nickerie, where I’m presently the pastor of the local assembly. I also serve as the vice president of the United Pentecostal Church of Suriname, a board member, an ordained minister and appointed by the Regional Missions Commission to also serve as the Regional Missionary. It is my honour to serve in the Kingdom of God. Servant of God, Clarence Edwards

Prepare for the HARVEST

St. Mark 16:15 commissions us to go into ALL the world (the global harvest field) and preach the Gospel to every creature. The Evangelism Ministry of Pentecostal Tabernacle is totally committed to the harvest fields locally and worldwide. We cannot dwell on the successes or failures of last year’s harvest. We must commit ourselves whole heartedly to this year’s harvest. Let us prepare ourselves and anticipate a great harvest of souls. Jesus declared the harvest truly is plenteous, and we are laborers together WITH God! Jesus went through all the towns and villages teaching in their synagogues. The harvest we experience does not belong to us, it belongs to God, who is Lord of the harvest. Mark 4:14, reminds us that the sower sows the Word. The effects of the Word that is sown is directly related to the soil in which it is sown. The Word sown by the wayside was immediately taken away by Satan. Similarly, the Word sown on rocks was received with great joy, immediately sprung up, but there was no firm root, so it easily fell away with persecution and affliction. Other seeds fell among thorns, but the worries of the world and desires for other things entered in and choked the Word. Finally, the seeds that were sown in good soil were received joyfully, germinated, flourished and produced much fruit. The harvest resulted, not just from the seeds that were sown, but because the field was carefully and meticulously prepared, tended, watered, fertilized, received adequate sunlight, and eventually produced a bountiful harvest. Let us prepare for a plenteous harvest of souls. Some plant, others water, fertilize and tend the fields, but it is God who gives the increase. “The harvest truly is plenteous!” Matt. 9:37

It’s Harvest TIME

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22)

Harvest is the time when we receive the reward of our labor. The rewards may be a natural blessing or a spiritual blessing, even eternal life in Heaven. We can understand from the Word of God that our lives are a cycle of seasons. Sometimes we may encounter someone who is experiencing the same season that we are currently in, and that can be very encouraging. Other times however, we might meet people who are having a season of happiness when we are experiencing sadness. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, Solomon outlined, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2[…] a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted […].” Our hope and prayer throughout this conference is for God to pour out on everyone His bountiful blessings for us to harvest. Harvesting can either be a time of great excitement or a season of tremendous sorrow. Whether excitement or sorrow, we know that the harvest we receive is dependent on the seed (actions, attitude or labor) that is planted or sown. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:7-15) Now, we all want to harvest a good reward. However, before we can harvest, we must first “plant.” Planting is a must, because if there is no planting there will be no harvesting.

Planting and WATERING

There are five stages of planting in agriculture that are also like the planting stages of the Word of God in our hearts.

Agricultural Planting Stages

1. Soil Preparation: Ploughing, leveling and applying fertilization 2. Selection and Sewing of Seed: Choose the crop that you want to reap and plant its seed 3. Applying Manure and Fertilization: This is the application of substances that enhances the productivity of the soil and plant growth 4. Irrigation: Applying water to the land or soil 5. Weeding and Crop Preparation: Removal of unwanted plants that may hinder the growth of the good crop

Spiritual Planting Stages

1. Preparation of the Heart: Our heart is the soil wherein the Word of God is planted. We must ask God to create with in us a clean heart. 2. Choose the Seed We Want to Plant: The Word of God is the seed. Like in agriculture, we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7-15). If we sow love, we will reap love. If we sow mercy, we will reap mercy. God’s desire is for us to plant His Word in our hearts. 3. Grounded in Faith: Spending time studying the Word of God and the application of the scriptures (Ephesians 3: 16-20). 4. Watering the Word: Prayer, worship, Bible study and meditation helps to enhance and solidify the Word of God in our hearts and produces spiritual growth. 5. Self Evaluation: Here we examine ourselves and look for any sin that may be in our hearts that is hindering the growth of the Word. 2 Corinthians 13: 5 reminds us to “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” After we have examined ourselves, we must ask God to purify us again, so that we can bear fruit. “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” (John 15:2-3). Harvesting

After we have gone through the stages of planting, we can then look for the harvest. Let’s look at harvesting in the natural and in the spiritual. 1. THE NATURAL HARVEST • Healing: God answers our prayers for healing of our bodies from sickness and disease. • Provision: We see the hand of God making provision for us where we once lacked. For example: restored relationships, new friendships, guidance in our career, financial stability, or a job. • An Insurance: Being the first beneficiary on the insurance plan of a deceased family member. • A Will: Receiving the inheritance of a deceased family member. • Kindness/Favor from Others: This may be an occasional opportunity when someone favors us and decides to be kind to us and blesses us in an extraordinary way. (Ruth being favored by Boaz, Ruth 2:8-9 “… Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: … and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn). • God’s Favor: When God exceeds our expectation and rewards us even for what we never worked for nor deserve. (Lamentations 3:22 [It is of] the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not). 2. THE SPIRITUAL HARVEST • Souls: The harvesting of souls is when there is an abundance of lives being born into the Kingdom of God and backsliders returning. This saving of souls is also referring to the rapturing of the elect. In Matthew 13: 37-43, Jesus explains with a parable how the world is like a big harvest, and that one day the good seed of the harvest will shine in His Kingdom. • Spiritual Outpour: This is a beautiful experience when The Spirit of God is rich in the atmosphere and many people receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost (Example Acts 2). • Spiritual Growth and Maturity: When after spending quality time in the presence of God and surrendering to His leadership; He eventually opens our eyes to see, know and understand Him in ways that we never have. He gives us the ability to love those who hate us, bless those who curse us, to forgive when it is hard, and to walk in

the fruit of the Spirit. He reveals to us our Spiritual Gifts and how to operate appropriately in them. In general, God gives us the access to His Spiritual armor and teaches us how to use it daily. • Deliverance: We no longer struggle with issues of the past. We are set free from spiritual bondage. • Revival in The Church: On the day of Pentecost, the Bible says in the book of Acts chapter 2, that while the disciples and others were all gathered together in the Upper Room, the Spirit of God descended, and they were filled with the Holy Ghost. They had a revival, not only because they experienced God in a new way, but also because others around them were impacted by this experience. This was a similar experience during the Azusa Street revival.

Song IT’S HARVEST TIME I look and see earth’s gold and riches The hording mob for selfish gain The toil of hands for ease and comfort.. I look again and see the falling golden grain Chorus Harvest time, harvest time The Savior’s calling. The grain is falling Oh do not wait. It’s growing late Behold the field is white, It’s harvest time Say not four months hen comes the harvest For ripe the grain ready to yield Work while it’s day the night is coming Lift up thine eyes and see God’s needy harvest field Chorus And when I stand before my Maker And give account for what I’ve done May I then hear Him saying to me Well done my servant you the crown have won.. Chorus Oh, do not sleep while souls are dying Awake arise there’s much to do At any price seek hard to win them And then, I’m sure there’ll be a crown for you
