Born in Henderson, North Carolina, Theresa was the biological daughter of Martha Alma Williamson Cobb and the life- long daughter of Hazel and Robert Cook. Hazel and Robert “Toman” Cook nurtured provided and gave unconditional love for all of rest of her existence. Pat, as she was affectionately called, was the last grandchild of Zollie and Julia Perry Cook and the 4th southern grandchild of John Ned and Louella Alston. She brought special love and joy to the Cook and Alston Family. Early on, she made a mark in the life of New Bethel Baptist Church. She as a little girl had a white robe and sang on the Gospel Chorus with her father. She confessed Christ at an early age and became an active member of Baptist Young People’s Union, Junior Choir and Youth Missionary Circle. Furthermore Pat was a faithful member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn NY for her last memorable years. Pat graduated from Henderson High School. She attended Vance Granville Community College and North Carolina Central University as she majored in Accounting and Business. She had no problem volunteering her services continuously to her family and friends. Pat spread her wings and touched hearts in various cities in North Carolina, Florida, and New York. She enjoyed the Florida Beaches as she would watch the sunset and collect sea shells on her walks. You can always count on Pat to remember your birthday. Our family gatherings were filled with much love and happiness. Her presence would brighten up a room with her young vibrant charisma. Two brothers Larry and the Ronald Cobb proceeds her in death. Pat leaves now to cherished her loving memories to her two children Waasim Cook of Jacksonville, FL and Vjara Cook of Charleston, SC. Her brother Abdul Rasheed (Marolyn), and Linda Cobb Henderson, NC. Her step mother, Estelle Cook and step sister, Diane Kingsberry, nieces, nephews, beloved cousins from the Allen, Alston, Perry, Cobb and Williamson Families. Theresa Patricia Cook will be remembered by her loving smile, free spirit, her long distance phone calls, her generosity and her supportive soul. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts! Her remains will be laid to rest at Manassas Chapel Baptist Church, 1323 Ballard Pruitt Road, Franklinton, NC 27525
You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
