Who Fathered Me

Mother, Mother, Mother, Oh my AMAZING Mother I knew you had to leave here But not so suddenly The nine-thirty calls at nights was replaced by Officer Clarke’s one call at 7:33 pm on March 20, 2019 How did he get your cell phone? I wish he had not But I remember our last conversation And most of the others too It was all about “You are too near to your home right now” How did you know? Yes, you were right I will miss our daily calls I will miss the weekend visits with your groceries I will miss your cool dancing And certainly your infectious smile I will miss you telling me not to work so hard; you only have one Judy Wow, death is real, so real Even when you appear strong and healthy How can someone who just called to see how someone else is doing Just stop sounding that loud voice But without a shadow of a doubt, I take comfort in knowing that my 9:30 partner My loving mother has gone on to glory Missed you mother. Your One Judy Dr. Judith Grey

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN OF PRAISE

How Great Thou art

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed

And when I think of God, His Son not sparing Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart Then I shall bow with humble adoration And then proclaim, my God, How great Thou art

Chorus Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF

eleta

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psalm 91:14-16, KJV

A Time to Be Born

Veleta Mattis, affectionately known as Millie and Aunty Toksie, was born on August 10, 1942 from the union of Susan and Michael Mighty of Rosetta District, St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the sixth child of thirteen. Her father was a farmer and her mother a housewife. A Time to Build She attended Bethany All Age School where she received her general education. She was very witty, especially when it comes to numbers. She furthered her education at trade school where she learned to sew. She left Rosetta District at the age of 25 and married Lester George Mattis, a fisherman of Ocho Rios. Veleta was always hard working, and in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where she grew up, she owned her own business from which she prospered enough to send her children to school. She was an entrepreneur who traveled across the Caribbean buying products for her local business. She was a generous and socially responsible business owner who was always giving to her community and helping others. Veleta was a caring mother, and active member of her community. 6

A Journey of Love Veleta loved her children dearly and was always there for them, so much that she made a faithful decision to leave her established life and beautiful home in Jamaica to reside in the United States to help one of her children who really needed her mother. Since that fated and faithful decision, Veleta has resided here in Florida where she could be close to all her children. A Time for Spiritual Growth Our mom accepted the Lord from a young age and remained a stalwart in Christ until her death. She was a prayer warrior. Always active in her church, she first attended The Ocho Rios Church of God of Prophecy at 3 Buckfield Road in Jamaica. After moving to South Florida, she was a member of Sunrise Church of God of Prophecy. Our mom always made worship and Christian principles and values the guiding path for us from we were young as she would wake us early each morning to have prayer meeting at home. She was steadfast in her faith and trust in Christ, and in this, we are confident that though our mom has departed this life, she is in a better place, the best place, with Christ her Lord and Savior. A Time to Rest On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, Veleta Mattis was called to a higher service, a higher purpose; one she has been preparing for almost her entire life‌She was called to the Kingdom of the Most High, and answered that call at 7:33 that night. Love and Legacy In celebrating her life are her brothers Bennett, George, Alexander, Herman (deceased), McLean, Joseph; sisters Babs, Agnes, Beryl, Anita, and Norma; her children Judy, Rose, Althea, Lester, Patricia, Paulette, Keisha, and Theadene; 25 grandchildren, 8 great-grand children, and host of relatives and friends. May the Lord embrace her in His glory, resting her soul in peace.

raveside Songs When the Roll is Called up Yonder

When the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

No Grave Can Hold My Body Down

In the Sweet By and By

No grave can hold my body down, no grave can hold my down. When the trump of God shall sound, and the dead in Christ shall rise, No grave can hold my body down.

In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore; In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

Meet Me by the River Some day

Some Sweet Day Some sweet day, I’m going away. I’m going to leave this world, no more to roam. Some sweet day, when life is over, Some sweet day, I’m going away!

Meet me by the river, some day; Meet me by the river, not far away. When my Lord has called me home, Happy, happy home beyond the sky; Meet me by the river, some day.

Some Day I’ll Go Where Jesus is Someday, someday I’ll go where Jesus is; Someday, someday I’ll go where Jesus is. Someday, someday I’ll go where Jesus is; I’ll be caught up to meet Him, I’ll be Caught up to meet Him, I’ll be caught up to meet Him in the air.

10

I’ll be caught up to meet Him, Caught up to meet Him; Where joy and happiness, Peace is mine! One day in glory, I’ll tell the story, I’ll be caught up to meet Him in the air.

OD'S GARDEN -Anonymous

God looked around his garden And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your beautiful face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
