ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU
For over three decades, Grand Pacific Resorts has made it our goal to keep our Owners and Associates at the center of all that we do. It is because people are at the forefront of our focus that we remain whole-heartedly devoted to exceeding the expectations of our Owners while ensuring that our cherished Associates know they are supported and valued.
Over the past year, it was wonderful to see so many of you return to the places you enjoy with the people you love. While together we have found many ways to responsibly navigate health and safety concerns, we are now faced with the new challenge of record-high inflation. We want to reassure you that we are doing everything in our power to keep your maintenance fee low, without sacrificing your high standards of vacation experiences, to ensure you will continually enjoy the Ownership lifestyle you have invested in over the years.
As we tackle new challenges, we want to make sure we celebrate our victories and successes as well. We were thrilled to bring home multiple wins from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) conference this year, including some in entirely new categories for our company. We were also fortunate to welcome new resorts in a variety of locations across California, Hawaii, and Utah to our Grand Pacific Resorts family. The addition of these new resorts will allow you to discover and enjoy new, exciting locations through the use of your current Ownership.
As we head into the New Year, my hope is that your home away from home continues to provide a place of joy for you and your family. I’m truly honored that you have entrusted yourselves to our care; it is for this reason alone that we are committed to honoring these traditions and creating experiences worth sharing year after year.

Ramona Ranch Vineyard and Winery
When Micole and his wife Teri started making bathtub wine for fun 10 years ago, they had no idea their experiment would flourish into a sprawling 10-acre estate featuring award-winning blends—and become the only Certified Sustainable winery in San Diego.
Ramona Ranch Vineyard and Winery makes all of its wine onsite, which guests can savor in the brand new tasting room that provides sweeping views of the spectacular Ramona Valley below. The property is also home to ponies, goats, and even a steer, along with several cats and dogs, all of which are rescues.
From being 40 percent solar-operated to using an organic fermentation process, Ramona Ranch
undergoes a rigorous Wine Institute audit each year in order to maintain its sustainability status.
And the successful winery only continues to expand, with a food license on the horizon, while also helping nearby wineries become sustainable as well.

It’s a long-standing tradition to enjoy a champagne toast after each hot air balloon ride, a custom that originated in France when balloon pilots would often land in startled farmers’ fields and began carrying bottles onboard to hand out as peace offerings. Cheers!
A BRIEF BALLOON HISTORY
Hot air balloons have been around since 1793 when two French brothers launched a balloon over Versailles with a sheep, duck, and rooster as the only passengers. One month later, they invited humans onboard and successfully brought hot air ballooning to life.

LEARNING TO LOVE LEFTOVERS
Allow us to re-introduce you to Patty Mastracco. Not only has she been an Owner with Grand Pacific Resorts for 10 years, but she also happens to be a worldclass chef and cookbook author, making frequent appearances on cooking shows to feature her famous recipes.
Patty got her professional culinary start at Hunt’s Foods (yes, that Hunt’s), sampling items in their test kitchen before beginning to invent her own recipes, contributing to the Hunt-Wesson cookbook, and styling food for multiple TV commercials.
Whether you’re at home or at your favorite vacation accommodations, Patty wants to help us learn to love leftovers by sharing her favorite recipes that use the extra items we already have laying around our kitchen, helping us save food and money while also eating a little healthier.
You can find Patty’s mouth-watering recipes along with other tips and tricks on her website idofood.com (https://www. idofood.com/ ) and on Instagram @idofood (https://www.instagram.com/idofood/ ).

HOW TO KEEP THE
Vacation Vibes
We all know and love the feeling of being on vacation: taking a muchneeded break from our everyday lives to relax and unwind as we make lifelong memories with the people we love.
Vacations have a unique way of making us feel more alive and awake while simultaneously more at rest. When we step out of our daily routines into a new location, we tend to view everything in a more favorable light.
But once we return home and resume our routines, reality sets in, causing the “come down” feeling many of us experience once a vacation is over.
The good news is that with a little effort, you can easily keep the vacation vibes going no matter where you are, helping make every day feel like a vacay:
Seek out the new.
When you’re on vacation, everything is novel: the sights, sounds, and foods. How can you recreate that feeling at home by stepping out of your comfort zone in a way that’s accessible? Perhaps it’s trying a new workout routine, painting your walls, or finally signing up for that cooking class. No matter what it is, with a little intention, cultivating excitement in your everyday life is totally possible.
Say yes to rest.
Perhaps one of the best things about vacation is being able to take as much time as you need to chill out. Lay on the beach all day? Take a nap at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday just because? Sure, why not. Ok, so maybe snoozing at sporadic times isn’t exactly feasible in everyday life, but it’s important to set boundaries and take frequent breaks so that you can enjoy some necessary down time every day.
Remember the good times.
Capture your most memorable vacation moments by jotting down your favorites in a travel journal while they’re still fresh in your mind. Next, rather than keep your photos on your device or camera where you’re likely to forget about them, print out the best ones and place them in fun frames where you’ll see them. Bonus points if you decorate the frames with mementos from your trip.
Book your next trip.
The best way to get over the post-vacation blues? By getting another one on the books! Even if it’s a long ways off, having anther getaway to look forward to is proven to help get us through the in-between vacation lulls. You can even start researching fun activities or restaurants you’d like to try. And for more vacation inspiration, check out GPX (https://www.gpxvacations.com/ ), featuring tons of top vacation destinations!
Vacations
On top of an apple a day, vacations are also what keeps the doctor away!
As though we needed another reason to get away, we can now say they’re good for our health. Yes, science is confirming that vacations are more than just for enjoyment, but rather are an essential component of our overall physical and emotional well-being.
Vacations are good for your heart.
Research has found that people who take more vacation days have fewer metabolic syndrome incidences, slashing your risk of cardiovascular issues by nearly a quarter with each additional vacation. (Cue: booking another trip now.)
Vacations help reduce stress—even after they’re over.
Who wouldn’t feel at ease sitting on a beach soaking up some vitamin D? However, studies are showing that even a brief getaway leads to a sustained reduction in stress that lasts at least five weeks after you return home.
Vacations help strengthen your lungs.
Lace up those walking shoes and head outdoors! A growing body of research indicates that more exposure to natural environments like mountains, lakes, and beaches (aka most of our resort locations) is associated with better lung function.
Vacations boost your work productivity and creativity.
This may seem counterintuitive, but reports find that employees who step out of the office to enjoy new experiences in inspiring environments return to work feeling refreshed and inspired and are more likely to receive raises. Clocking out now!
TO PACK LIKE A PRO 5
From beach bags to packing cubes, check out these packing tips that will make your travels easier!
List it Out
Make a list of all that you’ll need on your vacation like bathing suits, cover-ups, shirts, shoes, etc., allowing you to figure out what to bring ahead of time and also keep track of all your things during your trip. Next, pick out your outfit for each day depending on the weather and your planned activities, helping ensure you bring enough without overpacking.
Choose Your Shoes
When it comes to packing like a pro, start from the ground up. Since shoes are the bulkiest part of luggage, it’s important to choose them wisely. Start by picking out your favorite and most versatile pairs then choose outfits that match them. Nude-colored sandals, sneakers, and flip-flops tend to be the most flexible shoes.
Pack in Cubes
It’s good to be square in this case! Almost like Tupperware© for clothes, packing cubes are made of lightweight washable nylon and not only conveniently organize your clothes, but also keep your items neatly folded or rolled, making packing and unpacking a breeze. We guarantee once you start using them, you’ll never want to go back.
Switch Up Cover-Ups
Bathing suits and cover-ups can easily work double duty for both men and women. For guys, repurpose a good pair of board shorts to go on a hike or out to dinner by throwing on a button-up shirt. For ladies, toss shorts or a sundress over your bathing suit to double as an outfit while also saving you valuable space in your suitcase.
Make Bags Multi-Purpose
Whether you’re packing for a picnic or toting your beach read and sunscreen, a versatile bag is necessary when on vacation. Fold an extra tote into your suitcase to use as a beach bag or to stash souvenirs in later on. Also, bring along a few smaller reusable bags to store wet bathing suits and keep liquids separate from the rest of your items.

HEART&SOLE
As a result of their efforts, our Associates logged a total of 1,905 MILES & COLLECTIVELY RAISED $40,873!
WALKING FOR A CAUSE
Eight schools, five countries, and nearly 6,000 students—Grand Pacific Resorts is honored to be a part of the extended Christel House family, a nonprofit organization committed to helping provide students in impoverished communities around the world with educational opportunities in an effort to help break the cycle of poverty.
From kindergarteners at Christel House's newest school in Jamaica, to adult learners getting a second chance at Christel House in Indianapolis, our common purpose is to give the best chance to students who need it the most.
This past fall, our Associates walked, jogged, biked, and exercised as they logged fundraiser miles in the Christel House Walk-A-Thon to help raise awareness for this cause. Many organized into teams, held friendly competitions, and set fundraising goals.
“Walking is the best medicine for me. I've found that if we want to walk fast, we walk alone, but if
we want to walk far, we need to walk together. By doing so, we can accomplish anything while building a culture of inclusion and trust,” said Abby Escalante, Grand Pacific Resorts Associate and Walk-A-Thon participant.
As a result of their efforts, our Associates logged a total of 1,905 miles and collectively raised $40,873! This amount is enough to provide 15 students from Christel House with a full year of education essentials like books, uniforms, school supplies, lunches, transportation, healthcare, college and career counseling, and parent programs.
“I’m so proud of our Associates who remain committed to the causes that we have been passionate about for years,” said Grand Pacific Resorts Co-President, David Brown. “It’s exciting watching them come together to work for the common good, and we look forward to continue supporting such a worthy organization in any way we can.”

Aniya F. FRONT DESK AGENT, GRAND PACIFIC PALISADES
Front Desk Agent Aniya Feazell noticed that an elderly Owner, who had mentioned in passing that she’d been awake since 4 a.m. that morning, was also having some difficulty walking. Aniya not only arranged to have the Owner’s room moved closer to the lobby, but she also ordered the Owner a meal, paid for it, and had it delivered to her new room.
Elisa P. ROOM ATTENDANT, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEACH CLUB
When a Front Desk agent was having difficulty communicating with a Spanish-speaking Guest and asked Elisa if she would translate, Elisa gladly stopped what she was doing and came up to the front to speak with the Guest and answer any questions she might have. After the interaction, the Guest had the biggest smile and was so thankful for Elisa’s help.

SAN CLEMENTE COVE
A Guest was preparing a turkey on Thanksgiving and wasn’t sure if her oven was working properly. To ease her concerns, Frank went to three different stores in search of an oven thermometer. After no luck finding one, he brought the Guest one from his home. The turkey dinner was a success, and Frank also got to enjoy a delicious plate for his help.

SAN CLEMENTE COVE
When a man crashed while skateboarding down a steep hill near the resort and was knocked unconscious, the entire team at San Clemente Cove acted quickly to assist him. One Associate stayed with him while another ran to bring the resort’s defibrillator, and two others grabbed towels to place around the man’s head until paramedics arrived.
James L. GENERAL MANAGER, RIVERPOINTE RESORT
Despite already managing RiverPointe Resort in Napa, James also helped manage Tahoe Sands Resort during the busy holiday season. Not only did he cover the front desk for 12 hours at a time, but he also shoveled snow in between shifts! He even volunteered to work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s, helping Tahoe Sands survive the holidays!
Joel
V.MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, TAHOE SANDS RESORT
A Guest expressed discontent at being located far away from the BBQ grills. Maintenance Tech Joel Varnum and another Team Member carried a grill from the lakeside of the property all the way across the highway and up a hill to where the Guest was staying, who greatly appreciated the gesture—and got to grill.
Rania R. GUEST SUPERVISOR, HANALEI BAY RESORT
When two Guests were stranded at a local restaurant late at night with no rideshare services or taxis operating during that time, Guest Service Supervisor Rania sprang into action. After her shift, she drove out to Hanalei to pick up the Guests who were so grateful to her for going out of her way and bringing them back to the resort safely.
JAMES L. JOEL V.Celebrating CHAMPIONS
We are thrilled to recognize our BE EPIC Champions in group settings once again!
After a two-year hiatus due to health and safety regulations, we were able to celebrate our BE EPIC Champions from 2019–2021 at regional celebrations throughout California and Hawaii.
Our Champions stand out due to their ability to go above and beyond as they embody our BE EPIC values of Balance, Empowerment, Enthusiasm, Passion, Integrity, and C onsistency. Many of these Associates worked tirelessly during the height of the pandemic— a time when living out our values was more important than ever.
The night’s events consisted of a cocktail mixer followed by a dinner, culminating in an awards ceremony in which each of the winners was presented with a trophy.
“I really enjoyed this smaller format,” said Grand Pacific Resorts Co-President, David Brown. “I get to spend time really getting to know these Champions in a way I couldn’t before in the larger gala setting that we usually do.”
A big congratulations and thank you to all of our incredible BE EPIC Champions!

WE OUR HOUSEKEEPING ASSOCIATES
From ensuring every last detail of your condo is perfect prior to each arrival, to always having clean linens on hand, the daily effort from our Housekeeping Teams make them the heart of the house.
Even while working with reduced staff at times, our Housekeeping Associates continue to work diligently behind the scenes to provide our valued Owners with the best vacation experiences.
Each year, we dedicate an entire week, known as Housekeeping Appreciation Week, to shower them with our immense appreciation. This past September, each of our resorts hosted a week filled with treats like catered meals and gift baskets along with fun events like speed bed-making and towel-folding contests. We wish that we could celebrate our incredible Housekeeping Associate every week to let them know how much we truly appreciate them!
