A couple of months ago, we featured a picture of the Newent market house on the front cover. This provoked a bit of confusion amongst some of our readers, and I had a number of calls from people, some asking if we’d made a mistake and used the Newent market house instead of the Ledbury one, and others simply asking where the photograph was taken. So this month, as we have a picture of a boat on a river, I thought I’d better explain that this was photographed a couple of years ago when I visited family on the East coast, at a place called Orford. The picture has no specific significance, I used it simply because I like it! On to this month’s magazine. This month we welcome several new advertisers, some of whom are completely new to the Ledbury Focus, and some have advertised in the past. Of the newcomers, Briery Hill Llamas offer an interesting experience which the whole family can enjoy. Another newcomer is Hereford Ballet School with classes now available at the Halo Leisure Centre, so if you have any aspiring dancers in your family, the school are now taking new students. And on the subject of Halo Leisure Centre, do your children enjoy swimming? Then why not enrol them in one of the many swimming classes on offer – its good exercise, great fun and a skill every child should have. October is Halloween month, so look out for the Halloween Fest to be held on 28th October. Then it’s just a few short weeks to Christmas, so now’s the time to start thinking about your festive season advertising – don’t leave it too late, as we get booked up very quickly. Until next time, keep happy and healthy.

Time to Pause. T

here are many reasons for growing your own food, but for sheer satisfaction there’s nothing like it. Picking raspberries on a late summer evening it’s easy to get lost in the micro world around you; it’s a perfect moment of tranquility when time seems to slow and the 21st century, with all its problems, disappears. And of course there are the obvious benefits of fresh fruit. Management in my garden is laissez faire. I never use pesticides and only employ weed killer as a last resort. The result is not a garden you’ll find in the National Garden Scheme’s yellow book with my opening times. I have reason to be a little self-satisfied though, for my light handed approach has produced a garden where the balance is just about right. Alive with an army of little helpers - birds, frogs, slow worms, toads and many, many others - my garden is kept relatively pest-free.

Ledbury Focus

As I harvested my raspberries an early tawny owl called from the edge of the woodland. Was it the same one that deposited a pellet into one of my potted geraniums? These ‘furry’ pellets are the regurgitated remains of the owl’s last meal. Owls eat their prey whole and what is not digestible it brings back in the form of a pellet, which if taken apart, reveals the bones of the victim, and in this case an insect too. Were these bones all that was left of the bank vole I’d watched whilst cutting dandelion leaves weeks earlier? Thankfully no, for I spotted it again a few days later. Something else caught my eye in the long grass. It flashed through the Michaelmas daisies like lightening, sleek and lithe: a stoat. The rabbits had better watch out, for stoats are merciless killers but it’s another creature which will help to keep the balance just right in my garden.

Along with blueberries I’ve also planted some buddleia. Not my favourite shrub but adored by butterflies. This year I’ve had several commas and what I think was a pearl bordered fritillary plus the usual cabbage whites, red admirals, peacocks and meadow browns. Butterflies need all the help they can get from us so please bear that in mind when choosing flowering shrubs for your gardens. Raspberries picked and the sun was dipping behind the Black Mountains, but there was still time to just stand and take in everything around me. The air was hushed and still, the silence filled with expectation as if the world had taken a deep breath, pausing, before preparations for winter began. Article and photos by Geraldine Holbourn

Age Is No Barrier To Volunteering!

V

olunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. By offering your time, life skills and experience, you can help older people in your community improve their quality of life and maintain their independence and wellbeing. Many people find that volunteering helps with the transition into retirement but age is no barrier to volunteering. If you can smile – you can volunteer! Volunteering is helping, not hiring; giving, not taking; contributing, not counting. Volunteering is about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. The value of volunteering is priceless! Have you got the time, please? At Age UK Hereford & Localities we are currently looking for volunteers to support our services and help us make a difference to the lives of older people in Ledbury, including:

Ledbury Focus

Reaching You Service - The service offers a wide range of support including practical help with tasks that can become more difficult for them to do themselves. Could you help someone to take their first steps in using a computer? Could you take someone shopping or mow their lawn? Perhaps you would enjoy recording someone’s life story and memories? Ledbury Lunch Club - The Lunch Club meets once a month at the Community Centre in Lawnside Road. Join our existing volunteers, providing a friendly face and happy atmosphere for older people to get

together, enjoy lunch and each other’s company. Footcare Service – volunteer as a “cutter” for our much needed footcare service which is held at Harling Court several times a month. This is a simple toenail cutting service, helping people to remain safe and steady on their feet. Full training is provided. Office and Administration - helping with reception, admin and data inputting in our office based in the Master’s House.

We welcome new volunteers regardless of age. We appreciate the skills and telephone: 0333 0066 299 experience they bring, email: contact@ageukhl.org helping us to support www.ageuk.org.uk/herefordandlocalities older members of our community so that they Registered Charity Number: 1093512 maintain their dignity, Company Number: 04393515 health and independence. Trekking with llamas

O

ur business, Briery Hill Llamas was established by two animal enthusiasts, Lisa and Steve Fox. After working in the farming industry for many years, we decided to sell up and live the dream of llama trekking and owning animals. Our farm is located in Kilcot near Newent and is now home to eight llamas, five rescue dogs and two cows. Pigs and hens will be coming soon! We are not open to the general public; however we are available for bookings in advance. Reasons to choose us • Unique experience • Stunning location • Friendly and experienced staff Our llama farm is a haven of calm and tranquillity. It is ideally located with the Malvern Hills in the distance, and approximately 9 acres of beautiful woodland as part of the 32 acre site. There is also a small lake that is home to many wild birds, waterfowl, and fish. In addition, we have a luxury self-contained holiday let. Llamas often get bad press and we are regularly asked: Why llamas? Don’t they spit? It is very rare

Helping both men and women deal with the trauma of a relationship that has irretrievably broken down. By Malvern Branch Co-ordinator: Gill Owen I got involved with Divorce Recovery Workshop (DRW) 6 years ago when a friend who had been on the course found it so inspirational she wanted to set up a local branch in Malvern, which is the only branch in Worcestershire. The workshops are run by experienced volunteers who have all been through the breakdown of a long term relationship and attended the workshops. Although my own divorce was a long time ago, I had to attend the workshops before becoming a facilitator. I was amazed to discover just how many emotions I had buried. Once I had completed the workshop I knew I had come to terms with my past and could let it go. When you go through a breakup you don’t always realise how much grief, resentment and anger you hold on to or how emotionally and physically exhausting it can be. How can Divorce Recovery Workshop help? The breakdown of a long term relationship is a form of bereavement; yet unlike the death of a partner, you are often expected to carry on as normal. Whilst friends and family can be supportive, they don’t always understand how you feel and even your best friend will eventually have had enough of you going over and over what has happened! Anyone who has been through the heartache of an irretrievable breakup is welcome at DRW, even if you are going through the divorce or if it was years ago. DRW will help

you cope with the many different emotions: shock, disbelief, rejection, anger, bitterness and guilt. You will gain a better understanding of what you are going through and be offered strategies to help you cope. What actually happens at a workshop? The course consists of six sessions covering: • Is this really happening to me? • Coping with your 'Ex' • Assuming new responsibilities • Letting go and forgiveness • Family matters • Thinking about new relationships Participants watch a DVD on each topic and then divide into small groups with 2 facilitators per group. Everything said in the group is strictly confidential and no one is pressured to talk if they don’t want to. When is the next one taking place? The next DRW course will run on 3 Saturdays, fortnightly, on 14th and 28th October and 11th November 2017: 2 sessions per day with lunch in between. Is there a charge for the Workshop and where does it take place? DRW is a non-profit making registered charity but to cover our running costs we ask participants to pay £60 for the entire course. The venue is in Churchdown Road, Malvern and there is a free car park.

If you would like more information or to reserve a place please contact me, Gill, on 01684 560394 or email: malvern@drw.org.uk or Pam on 01432 820316

Bowen Treatment for Digestive Health by Helen Mawson, BSc Hons, DIpM, BTAA, BAUK

n this article, I share with you some information concerning how I work with digestive problems mainly using The Bowen Technique and how these can often be resolved quickly and easily. I will also give some general advice on what you can do to help yourself. Diet & Lifestyle The health of your gut is critical to your overall health. The delicate balance of your digestive system is vital to feeling healthy and well, this also has a very direct link to the way we feel psychologically and emotionally. The digestive system in holistic terms is often referred to as the second brain. Our gut contains twice as much serotonin as our brain; it is clear, that a balanced digestive system is vital. Both diet and lifestyle are important factors in establishing and maintaining good digestive health. Getting enough hydration is also vitally important, as is taking regular exercise that works for your body type.

Another very important factor here concerns minimising stress and inflammation as much as possible. Taking steps to reduce the stress you experience in your life will serve to help your health on so many levels including helping your digestion and absorption. You are what you absorb Forget about being you are what you eat, in reality, you are what you can absorb. It might be that you are eating very healthily and doing everything right most of the time, but still, your digestive problems persist. This could be to do with absorption and the way your body works as per your own unique physiology. Some people for example simply cannot digest certain foods. Some people may be able to digest certain foods with the aid of a specific digestive enzyme. We are all very unique in terms of our body biochemistry. As I hinted at above, digestive health can also be linked to stress and/or emotional problems.

The Bowen Technique for Digestive Health We have many procedures within the Bowen Technique that can address digestive health, all of these procedures aim to get the body working correctly once more. The Bowen moves literally communicate with the brain via the nervous system that is being activated whilst we are working on the muscles, tendons and ligaments when addressing specific areas of the body. Respiratory / Digestive procedure: This is generally my go-to procedure to help the body to start working at its optimum in terms of digestive and respiratory health at a physiological level. The procedure also helps the body relax and re-balance and people often report improvements with emotional and stress related problems including depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Stress and emotional issues can often be the root cause of both digestive and respiratory related symptoms. I have found Bowen to be invaluable when treating an individual’s digestive problems from a physiological perspective and also in addressing stress or emotional imbalance that might be causing other physical problems. The procedure can also often kick-start sluggish digestion, and metabolism significantly.

Ledbury Focus

I have just completed my second postgraduate training course with the Bowen Technique and contained in this course are many new procedures that can be used to address the body from top to toe. I describe below some of the procedures I now have in my tool kit that can be used to address the digestive system. Oesophagus procedure: This procedure is particularly useful when a person has difficulty swallowing and or constriction in the Oesophagus. If heartburn is a problem then this procedure can be used to address that. We might also use this procedure when a person presents with problems associated with their voice. It is useful for singers and can help restore health to the vocal chords. The procedure may also address tightness in the diaphragm. Navel procedure: This procedure is well indicated when there are general digestive problems present along with lowered vitality. It is often also used when emotional symptoms are present such as anxiety, depression, grief and has been used with PTSD. Abdominal procedure: This procedure can be used with hernia problems, general griping pain in the abdomen and is useful for tight rectus adominous muscles. Colon procedure: This procedure is well indicated to be used when colon problems such as Colitis, Crohns and IBS

are presented. We would also use this when an individual is struggling with constipation or sluggish elimination. Gall bladder procedure: We have several procedures and protocol that can work with Gall Bladder issues. The issues indicated for use include, swollen or uncomfortable Gall bladder. Pain around the right rib cage and or under the right scapula. Bloating, flatulence and burping. Dizziness and in some extreme cases blurred vision. We also have a protocol which addresses the Ileocaecal valve, which is vitally important for the proper functioning of the digestive system. Problems that have responded well to Bowen digestive work In practice, I use the digestive procedures a lot and I have found that a multitude of symptoms and issues seem to respond well to this work, as follows: yy Gastro-intestinal symptoms:  Abdominal discomfort i.e. colic, hiatus hernia and indigestion  Bloating  Heart burn  Nausea  Malabsorption issues

yy Liver, pancreatic or gallbladder problems yy Diaphragm problems and tightness yy Stress, shock, anxiety, grief .

Creating Your Garden Paradise article by Jonathan Bishop

A Garden Pond T

his month I’m looking at ponds as an ideal way to encourage wildlife and to create movement and sound in your garden, whatever its size. The design of a pond offers lots of scope to make your dreams a reality, but in general it will be influenced by your garden’s existing size, slopes and soil. I would recommend a site visit by an expert to discuss any project. If you would like to use Foliation’s expertise, then please contact me directly on the numbers below. Pumps and Fountains The great advantage of having a

42

pump and/or fountain is that water is circulated and aerated which will allow you to keep fish. A waterfall will add movement to your garden and encourage wildlife. Birds are able to drink and bathe in the shallow water as it passes over the rocks or where it shoots from a top pool to a lower one. Fountains fed straight from the pump will add height, movement and more sound than a gentle tricking of water. The effects can be relaxing and soothing and offer cooling on a hot summer’s day. The big challenges when constructing a pond are firstly routing a protected cable to supply electrical power to

A clean pond is essential to encourage wildlife. Over time, organic matter entering the pond can sink to the bottom where it will rot into a silt and give off toxic gasses. Some animals may cope but wildlife new to the pond will pass it by. I suggest a couple of checks. If you have lilies growing in your pond and the leaves are above the water (rather than lying flat on the water) this could be a sign that the build-up of silt is causing them to sit too high. Another way is to use a bamboo cane. Lower it gently into the water until it sits on the top of the silt and mark this depth on the cane. Then, again gently (so as not to damage the pond liner) push through the silt to find the pond bottom. If the difference indicates a depth of silt greater than two inches, the pond probably needs cleaning. Help wildlife to get in and out your pond, and larger animals to drink from it, by providing a ramp or a shallow end. Planting Create different heights of planting.

To advertise call 01684 833715 or email: info@grapevinepublications.co.uk

Use low lily pads and tall stems of iris. Include shelves at different levels above and below the water level to increase your options for planting and to benefit pond life. Thoughtful planting in or near your pond is key for smaller insects who need access in and out of the water. For example, dragonfly need some form of ladder for their larva to develop under water then eventually climb out to fly away. Maintenance Maintenance of a pond will vary depending on the kind of pond you have, but generally now is the time to do the work, before the weather changes. When moving fish and other pond life it is vital not to shock them. Be sure that the young are large enough to be moved. Move fish and other pond life into a holding bay held at the same temperature. First get the biggest holding bay you can next to the pond (this will make

it easier to put everything in and get them back again later). A paddling pool is good for this purpose. Fill it with as much of the existing pond water as you can (without stirring up the silt,) as this will keep the animals in their own environment. Move wildlife across as you see them. Try not to touch them as most pond life is cold blooded, unlike us warm blooded humans. Aerate the holding bay and cover it with a net if needed. This is a fun thing to do with the kids as they can keep a record of what you find.

UV bulb they are normal renewed every 18 months. Gently put plants and pond life back, dividing and re-potting plants as you go. If you have enough water, allow the pond to fill up naturally with rain water, otherwise top up the pond level from your water butts. If you must use tap water, use a treatment available from any good aquatic supplier to take out the harmful chemicals. Then sit back and enjoy!

Remove plants and rocks. Once down to the silt, remove it and add it to the compost heap as it’s very good for the garden. Do not use chemicals or scrub the sides of the pond as there are a lot of good bacteria here for the wildlife to feed on. Clean the filter box if you have one, again using the exiting pond water. If your filter box has something called a

Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the checkout line pushing a trolley piled high with groceries. Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward, looked into the cart and asked sweetly, "So which six items would you like to buy?" ******* Because they had no reservations at a busy restaurant, my elderly neighbour and his wife were told there would be a 45 minute wait for a table. "Young man, we're both 90 years old," the husband said. “We may not have 45 minutes." They were seated immediately!

e all enjoy a trip to the hairdressers for a pampering session; some of our pets are no different. A grooming session at home not only gives us the opportunity to bond with our pets, but also it allows us to carry out an all over examination to check for parasites, wounds, lumps and bumps and anything else out of the ordinary.

Getting your pets used to having the ears, eyes, teeth, feet and body looked at can also make a surprising difference to how relaxed they are when they visit the vets, because to them it is a normal part of their daily routine. What you might find when grooming your pet? Parasites need no introduction to pet owners! The two major ones to keep a look out for are fleas and ticks. yy Fleas: Pets are often very

The Benefits of Regularly Grooming Your Pet! effective at removing fleas, so as well as looking for these tiny pests; you may see signs of brown flea “dirt”. This is a very reliable indicator that fleas are present. Fleas are a major cause of skin problems in pets and they can also bite humans. • Ticks: Regular grooming and removal of ticks, alongside an effective product that will kill or repel ticks, forms the basis for prevention of tick borne diseases. There are a number of products available for flea and tick treatment and prevention, including a very effective tablet for dogs; we are running a long term loyalty scheme on this product. For puppies when you buy the first treatment, you get the second one free and for adults dogs, when you buy three treatments you get the fourth one free.

Lumps, Bumps and Swellings are another thing keep to a watchful eye out. If you find a skin lump on your pet, there are several possible underlying causes. It is a good idea to get any lumps, bumps or swellings checked by a vet as soon as possible.

Don’t worry, it doesn’t involve any essay writing etc., it’s all about learning something new or passing on your experiences to those who want to do something other than stare at four walls, once they retire. It’s not political or religious, nor is it expensive. Membership is just £9 per annum or £15 for two people who live at the same address. On top of that we just pay a small sum ranging from 20p to £1 for any groups we attend - this covers the hiring of the venue in most cases. We issue a quarterly Newsletter which tells all members about outings that have occurred and what days and times the various groups meet, as well as other information. At the beginning of September, we have arranged an outing to the Royal Mint. The Incredible Bombyx Mori

D

o you know where the saying "to spin a yarn" came from? Well, originally groups of silk spinners would tell tales and stories to pass the time. I have always been fascinated by the old weaving looms and how they work, so you can imagine my delight when I had a chance to view 19th century looms working and actually weaving silk, at Whitchurch Silk Mill. The centre welcomes visitors to the oldest working silk mill - still in its original building - in UK. It is a gem of industrial heritage in beautiful rural Hampshire. The old Georgian watermill wheel still works, powering the looms that weave the silk Silk is a natural fibre produced by the silkworm which is not really a worm, but the caterpillar of the silk moth, Bombyx Mori. When the moth reaches

maturity it lays about 400 eggs. For one month the lava eats masses of mulberry leaves and grows to 10 centimetres. It then spends thirty days spinning a cocoon around itself in a figure of eight and produces 1,200m of silk thread. It is then immersed in hot water and the thread wound into a skein of silk. It is dyed into many beautiful colours before it starts on a long journey from China or Brazil, to UK, and the factory, where it is then put on a vintage winding machine and wound onto bobbins. The weaving takes place on two types of 19th century power looms called tappet and dobby. The shuttle moves back and forth at great speed and can weave one metre of silk cloth every hour. I was amazed how fast the shuttle moved and lost sight of it on several occasions only to spot it later ‌ but what a sight to see these old machines still working. These machine can weave delicate bombazine silk, camlet - a luxurious satin weave using camel hair crepe fabric, damask with many elaborate patterns, faille - a ribbed fabric - moirÊ fabric which has a watermark, lovely shiny taffeta and satin, and my favourite, organza, which is a stiff, lightly transparent, gauze-like fabric woven with raw silk What a fantastic day I had. I learnt so many interesting facts, ate a delicious lunch in the mill's tearoom, and of course I visited their souvenir shop. This sells attractive and exclusive gifts made on the

thriving WEA has been established in Ledbury for 10 years, thanks to the foresight and enthusiasm of Jenny Silcock and her committee, who have successfully planned and stewarded the courses, under the auspices of WEA, West Midlands during this period. This year, Jenny and her colleagues have decided to step aside from their hard work, enjoying the fruits of their labours, continuing to subscribe to WEA courses, but passing on the organisational baton to a new Chair and committee.

Ledbury Focus

As a celebration to mark the success of WEA Ledbury and the end of an era, Viv Arscott (secretary) hosted a tea party on August 5th, at her home for the “old” and the “new”. The scones and strawberries were mouth wateringly delicious. There was a big thank-you, toasted with champagne, to all of the committee for their hard work in maintaining a WEA presence in Ledbury & District. Jenny, wearing the turquoise shirt, is pictured with her colleagues at the celebration. The new programme for the Autumn and Spring term (courses and workshops) is

available in the Ledbury Library, Tourist Information Office, Heritage Centre, Balfour News and various village locations, or it can be obtained by a phone call to Wendy Hill (01531 634333), who is not only taking bookings, but will send out brochures to prospective participants. The workshops and courses offer a diverse selection of subject material catering for a range of interests. They include a trip to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter & Coffin factory, an introduction to Ethics, Urban Realism, an Orson Wells film day, Buddism in practice, the Russian revolution, and many more.

Orchards

H

erefordshire is symbolised by the apple and has a proud history of cider making. Old traditional orchards provide vital habitat for all kinds of wildlife, and are part of the counties folklore, traditions and our historic landscape. A traditional orchard is defined as an area of tall fruit trees in managed grassland, often grazed by sheep or cattle.

58

Windfalls (unharvested orchard fruit) are consumed throughout the autumn and winter months by many birds, mammals and insects and are available when many foods are scarce. But an orchard is far more than just the fruit it produces and contains many other wildlife habitats. As trees age, they develop crevices and hollows which provide nesting sites, while deadwood left standing and the hollowing of older trees (a natural process arising through symbiosis between tree and fungi which actually benefits the tree) produces material which can be digested by the larvae of many invertebrates. In spring and summer,

the grass beneath the trees can flourish as a wildflower meadow while surrounding hedgerows provide winter berries and shelter for birds and small mammals. Wildlife to spot In autumn, thrushes and redwings flock to enjoy windfall apples while insects such as the red admiral butterfly will also enjoy this sugar boost. Great spotted, lesser spotted and green woodpeckers all frequently nest in old orchards as might little owls if there are large hollows in some of the old tree trunks. King of the orchard bugs is the metallic green noble chafer beetle whose larvae live in old decaying fruit trees where they take

up to seven years to develop into adult beetles. And, of course, many old trees are bedecked with mistletoe which supports the mistletoe tortrix moth and whose berries are enjoyed by mistle thrushes and migrant black caps. WhereYellow to findFlag them - photo courtesy of Lizzie Wilberforce Herefordshire Wildlife Trust manages several traditional orchards as nature reserves including at Common Hill and at the Sturts. Details at www.herefordshirewt.org/ wildlife/reserves Love your orchards! In recent decades, the intensification of orchard production has led to the development of smaller trees which produce larger crops and as a result areas of traditional orchard have been lost or neglected. To support traditional orchards, look out for local apple juice, cider and perry producers who harvest from and tend to small, traditional orchards. Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s Orchard Origins – a Community Interest Company supporting wellbeing and wildlife in the county’s traditional orchards – also welcomes volunteers who can learn about all aspects of tending, harvesting and processing on their work party days. (www.herefordshirewt.org/orchardorigins) Alternatively, if you have the space, you could plant your own – a collection of five fruit trees or more officially qualifies as an orchard! . . . continued on page 36 Ledbury Focus

Leadonites score success with Rotary Grant

T

he Leadonites Basketball teams were on good form at John Masefield School Ledbury Leisure Centre for the End of Season intramural matches with points scored during this fast paced sport. In an atmosphere of vibrant energy and good humour we witnessed passes and pivoting, leaping, rimshots, and alley oops! A surprise came when team player Harry Pugh’s free shot expertly propelled Harrison the Rotary End Polio Bear mascot cleanly through the basket to great applause! Rotary President David Houghton and Secretary Una Morgan were present as guests of Head Coach Mathew Chalkley, who gave a public ‘thank you’ for the Community chest grant fund provided by Ledbury Rotary club. The money will be spent on equipment, materials and other much needed items to encourage more members and enhance excellent reputation of Basketball. President David said: “We at Rotary are keen to support the Youth of our Town and wish the Leadonites every success in their endeavours and hope they will go on to play in the national events!”

Wine: Gems Of France

F

rench cuisine is legendary and, complementing many dining occasions, are fabulous wines from France. France produces wines for all occasions and to suit all palates. From whites, through all others, to Sparkling and really great reds, France supplies superb wines, worldwide, many of which are multi awardwinning. For this quest I searched for a family producer of well-presented high-quality wines, with knowledge and experience of previous generations. Productions of Ferraud wines have been ongoing since 1882. The wines produced express the personality and characters of the different appellations and areas of wine productions. Emphasis on taste, quality and consistency are paramount and many awards have been won by this company for their exceptional wines. The following are some selections, from their impressive range. P. Ferraud & Fils Saint-Véran La Chardonneraie I found as an excellent white wine. The designation of Saint Véran was recognised during 1971, with Pierre

Ferraud being a main character for its promotions and recognitions. Utilising the Chardonnay grape variety, to great advantage, this wine will not disappoint and has many followers. A very pleasant bouquet precedes the grand mouthfeel. Superb with white meats, fish and seafood dishes. P. Ferraud & Fils Brouilly Domaine Rolland, that I located amongst their splendid wine range, is a very popular red production. The deep ruby-red colour entices to the wonderful bouquet and mouthfeel, to follow. This powerful and well-balanced wine has a great palate sensation and finish. P. Ferraud & Fils Morgon Domaine Ferraud Les Charmes is a further example of the quality wines from this producer. Again, the bouquet satisfies the nasal experience, very well indeed. The flavours on the mouth come through as rich and fruity. This full-bodied, powerful red wine is extremely popular, has a long finish and many devotees. Other superlative wines include their Beaujolais Villages Les Merrains and SaintAmour Cuvée Ensorceleuse. The red wines, utilising the Gamay grape, are great with red meats, etc. Very popular, they are chosen regularly and grace many dining occasions, constantly. A company dedicated and committed to producing high-quality wines that will satisfy and impress. www.ferraud.com As always, Enjoy! Trevor Langley
