Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile! It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Paul Papandreou feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving people
money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Malvern, Worcester & Hereford areas and Paul is finding that his approach is a major
factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends and family of people
I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Paul a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

kitchen is the heart of the home. It's a room that's used more than almost any other. And it's a feature that often influences a prospective property owner's decision to buy. But there are times when a kitchen doesn't fulfil the needs of the home's new occupants. Some can be dated, others might be poorly designed and, in extreme cases, they are complete write-offs. In most properties, though, the kitchen is well laid out. It has been designed with the 'work triangle' in mind: a decades-old industry standard that states the three most important work stations – the sink, oven and fridge – should be positioned a set distance from each other. But what many buyers find is that, while the kitchen in their new home is perfectly practical, it has become tired and in need of a lift. And that's where local kitchen facelift Dream Doors, has the solution. Dream Doors specialises in kitchen makeovers. By swapping the doors and drawer fronts with made-tomeasure replacements – and usually fitting new worktops, a sink and taps – a Dream Doors kitchen makeover is typically half the cost of a fully fitted kitchen and takes just a couple of days for the firm's locally employed fitting teams to install. The company's name, however, is a misnomer, as Dream Doors supplies much more than just the doors. So when a kitchen is beyond repair or the layout doesn't work, and the only option is to start afresh, Dream Doors can supply and install a brand new kitchen. With 60 showrooms nationwide, Dream Doors is the UK's largest kitchen facelift retailer. The Worcester based franchise, based at 42 The Tything, is a family-run business owned by Mark and Dionne Battin. They welcome feedback through the independent consumer monitoring website Checkatrade.com too, generating testimonials with average scores of 9.7 out of 10. This month The Beauty Barn are sponsoring our competition, so if you fancy a little pampering, send your entries in and keep your fingers crossed. A welcome new addition this month is Jump Dance Academy ... the perfect way for your youngsters to use up all that excess energy, and for the not so youngsters to work off all the Easter eggs and hot cross buns. West Mercia Police offer some helpful advice on how to keep yourself safe on the internet, and once again, Jonathan Bishop at Foliation has excellent hints and tips for getting your lawn back in shape for the summer. Inkberrow Players' production of Cash on Delivery and The Flowers Band concert at Pershore Abbey are just some of the events coming up this month ... as always there are plenty more in the What's On page. That's all for this month. Enjoy the Spring, take care and happy reading.

Four and Twenty Blackbirds…
B
ack in February storm Imogen blew in some old friends I’d not seen in the garden for nearly two winters. Like all old friends they were a welcome sight: the redpolls had arrived. Their stay was brief, my feeders just a pit stop as they travelled on to who knows where. They brightened up the days with their ruby breasts and heads and although not as flamboyant as their goldfinch cousins, they seemed less bad tempered. How often are my mornings disturbed by quarrelling goldfinches? Beauty is, as they say, only skin deep. I’ve always had a problem feeding blackbirds, dunnocks and even chaffinches that shun the feeders. I’ve often contemplated acquiring a traditional bird feeder to try and overcome the problem, but would only end up feeding the squirrels. The blackbirds here are very shy. Try as I might I’ve never been able to get them to use a ground feeder protected by a cage. An opportunity arose to overcome the problem this winter. After I’d had my ancient apple trees pruned I was left with large piles of brash. This is

normally burned but I wanted it chipped so that I could use the chippings as mulch but unfortunately the ground was too wet to get any machinery close to the piles of branches. Well, it’s an ill wind that blows no one any good isn’t? During the cold snap I scattered some food on the ground in the hope that the smaller birds would at least get some of it before the pheasants gobbled the lot. As I scattered crushed fat balls (more on that later) I hit on the idea of throwing some into the brash where the pheasants couldn’t get. It worked a treat. Within twentyfour hours I had eleven blackbirds in the orchard. Not
enough for the pie in the nursery rhyme, but far more than I’ve been able to feed in the past. Some of these birds could well be migrants from Scandinavia, especially as I’ve seen a redwing amongst them, which also over winter here. It’s odd what the birds will or will not eat. Fat balls are supposed to be the thing, but when I’ve filled a feeder with them all I’ve watched them go green and mouldy and eventually I’ve had to throw them away. This winter I tried crushing them and scattering them in the orchard. Bingo! Ground feeding birds successfully fed.

T
he number of people in the UK setting up their own business is continuing to rise with 581,000 new companies created in 2014. There are many reasons behind this lifechanging decision, including a Eureka moment in the early hours, redundancy or early retirement, an inheritance or quite simply the desire to achieve greater financial reward for countless hours of hard work. When I see start-up owners at the beginning of their business journey, they often ask what key points they should consider – and here are my top four. Write a plan As the saying goes, fail to plan, prepare to fail. Every new business needs a plan, which is effectively a road map of your business idea. Don’t worry at this stage about minor details. Although you may have enjoyed the recent TV adaptation of War and Peace, you certainly don’t need to write it. Your plan should include the clear objectives of the business, how it is going to operate and make a profit and what resources it will require to make that happen.
14
To advertise call 01684 833715 or email: betty@grapevinepublications.co.uk
Once it has been written, don’t just toss your plan on a shelf to gather dust. Revisit and revise it on a regular basis. Choose a business structure Before you start to trade you will need to decide which legal entity to adopt. The four main types are: • Sole trader • Partnership • LLP – limited liability partnership • Limited company Choosing the right structure for your business is crucial and should be given plenty of thought. Each entity has its pros and cons with important issues such as finance, ownership and taxation to consider. How will the business be financed? Some businesses will need none or very little start up capital. However, bear in mind that you should not expect to draw income from your business straight away but will still need to cover the usual household bills and expenses. Most businesses fail due to a lack of cash reserves - not because they aren’t profitable and for that reason you must ensure that you have enough financial resources, not forgetting to factor in your personal requirements.
Options include a loan from a bank or from family and friends, crowd funding or an equity share sale. There are also tax breaks available for investments in small business via the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme. Financial institutions will want to see detailed business plans before they pledge funds and, if you are borrowing money from friends and family, you have to consider the implications on those relationships if the business fails. Impact on family life This is one aspect of starting a business that should never be underestimated as it can quickly become all-consuming, especially in the early days when you need to establish your client base. Take the views of your family and friends on board as their support is vital and remember to make time for your spouse or partner, children and friends – and yourself. Tim Pearce is managing partner of Haines Watts in Evesham and Worcester and specialises in helping owner-managed businesses, in particular those looking for a more hands-on approach. If you need advice on setting up a business, contact Tim on 01386 579999.

Applewood Smoked by Andrew Brooks
A
real English treasure. Applewood is a traditional farmhouse cheddar with a delicate smoky flavour and a lovely smooth texture, all finished with a dusting of paprika for good measure. Standing the test of time, Applewood was first created in 1965, retaining an enthusiastic fan club to this day. You can find it on the deli, in wedges, sliced and even snack sticks, making it extremely versatile for all manner of meals. Applewood Smoked Cheese is Britain’s favorite smoked cheese. Made in Somerset by Ilchester cheese, using pasteurized cows milk and vegetarian rennet. Softer and creamier than most cheddars, Applewood Smoked is a semi hard cheese with a smoky, tangy flavour. The dusting of paprika enhances the smokiness, adds a touch of sweetness and gives the cheese a wonderful golden glow. Applewood Smoked is seriously delicious melted on burgers or on bruschetta with Parma ham and basil.
Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with? If people from Poland are called Poles, then why aren't people from Holland called Holes? Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a race car is not called a racist? If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for? If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, then doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed? Why do people run over a piece of string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it and then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance? I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered do Chinese mothers use toothpicks? Why, in winter, do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? Is it true that you never really learn to swear until you learn to drive? Why, why, why do we press harder on the remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak? Why do banks charge a fee due to insufficient funds ... they already know you're broke! Why is it that when someone tells you that there are one billion stars in the universe you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint you have to touch it to check? Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized? Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

rom temples and tigers, to beaches and Bollywood, India has so much to offer. Splendid spectacles and scenery, plus the many different cultures, are all part of the Indian heritage and way of life. Delhi, India’s capital and second largest city, has a long history, and much can be seen of the imperial and majestic past. The Taj Mahal, at Agra, is the symbol of eternal love and was built by the 5th Mughal Emperor. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur make up the famous golden triangle, but beyond that, there is a lot more to learn about and explore. An abundance of wildlife can be seen in the national parks, which provide protected habitats, for many endangered animals. The cuisine of India has always fascinated me. Moti Mahal is a gastronomic Indian restaurant, situated in the heart of London’s West End. The kitchen can be viewed from the main dining room – so culinary skills can be admired. Also, with a really good bar, plus a further dining area downstairs, with its own bar, Moti Mahal gives a feeling of warmth and welcome.
Head chef is Anirudh Arora, from Delhi, who, with 8 other chefs, ensures that all diners have a most memorable experience, for lunch or dinner. Moti Mahal, established in Delhi, in 1959, literally means pearl palace – and this venue is certainly a pearl of Indian cuisine. The celebrated menus are inspired by a life-long passion for the cuisines of India’s Grand Trunk Road, which stretches some 2,500 kilometres, and with Anirudh Arora, Indian cuisine, from both on and off Grand Trunk Road, can be enjoyed by all. With the finest and freshest produce available, the extensive menus and dishes have something to please everyone. The Kasoori Murgh Makhani – a tandoor cooked chicken tikka in a creamy tomato sauce with fenugreek leaves – served with spiced lentil and potato cakes, vegetables, lentil stew and Naan bread, was succulent, very flavoursome and cooked and presented to perfection. Kulfi, is a very popular dessert, which adds to the dining experience at Moti Mahal. The wine list, with Champagnes and also an excellent whisk(e)y selection – one of the largest I have experienced – along with numerous varieties of teas, coffees and more, are all there to be enjoyed. The food is cooked and presented superbly. Also, there are tasting menus and all dietary requirements can be catered for. Whether it is destination dining, or whilst passing through, or perhaps staying in London, with theatre land right there, the combination of a show and a visit to Moti Mahal, certainly will not disappoint. An absolute delight. As always, Enjoy! Trevor Langley

Creating Your Garden Paradise article by Jonathan Bishop
LAWN CARE
T
he season has now kicked off and it is time to start looking at lawns. Obviously the most important thing, if not already done so, is to make sure the light is getting to the lawns and any old leaves and dead vegetation from the previous year are removed.
After the leaves have been on it for such a long time, to help stimulate new growth, aeration is ideally needed. The easiest way to do this is with a fork and ‘fork’ holes, as often as possible, all over the lawn. This allows air down to the roots and also moisture down to the roots. When a lawn has been walked on for a period of time it becomes very compacted, so this process will allow the roots and the plants breathe more.
days; if it doesn’t rain for 3 days from treatment it will need watering in, but ensure that you follow the instructions on the pack. This can either be spread by a machine or by hand, but you must ensure that you don’t overdose and that it is evenly spread, otherwise the nitrogen in the fertilizers can burn the grass. After 14 days it is best to scarify. Scarifying is like a giant mechanical rake. This gets all the thatch out of the lawn, which is all the dead material that moss and dampness thrives on. Once this is out it can create bare patches in the lawn, so it always a good idea to top dress. The best way to top dress if your lawn is reasonably smooth, is to use compost mixed in with grass seed in a wheelbarrow and top dress it. The compost acts as a sponge when watering and helps the grass to generate. Don’t mow your lawn over this period until the grass is a few inches high, otherwise the lawnmower will suck up the new grass.
The first cut This is always best done slightly long and then on each cut lower down to ideal height. This way you don’t ‘scalp’ the lawn, which Lawn weed and feed This would be a good time to put a means cut it too finely, because There is an autumn and spring bird scarer out. If you haven’t got only the tips are yellow and you time to do this, and it is always a anything suitable, shred a black bin can have a very patchy lawn. What good thing to do. At the moment you are trying to do is encourage you can get a lawn weed, feed and bag and tie it to the end of a the plant to thicken from the base moss killer in the spring. This is bamboo cane so that it flaps slowly. best done and then left for 14 around in the wind. This should 26 To advertise call 01684 833715 or email: betty@grapevinepublications.co.uk
help to keep the birds at bay and little rodents from feeding off your grass seed before it germinates. Nowadays, if you have a brown patch in the lawn, you can buy patch repair product, but the compost and grass seed will do just as good a job. During the growing season I recommend fertilizing your lawn with a liquid fertilizer and watering it in. This will help to make the lawn very luscious and green. Also, mow on a regular basis rather than let it get too long. This will keep the grass nice and short and will allow it to thicken up to become luscious and green. If you have any unnecessary bumps before the growing season kicks off, i.e. anthills, you can repair them by raking out and then using a roller to go over the top. Autumn Again this is a good time to add lawn weed and feed. This helps to
put goodness into the roots ready to survive the winter, but bear in mind to keep all leaves and any furniture, etc. off the lawn as much as possible so you don’t have any dead patches in the following spring. Mowing techniques It is always useful to mow round the outside twice first, and round any obstacles. Then take a straight line from the most viewed point, i.e. a door or window, out through the centre of the lawn and then work to the corners, going up and down. That way, if you are creating stripes, if there are any off-cuts off stripes they will be in the corners and it will also make your lawn look nice and level rather than it going off at an angle. I also recommend occasionally you change the direction of the stripes so that you don’t get any ruts in the lawn from the wheels of the mower if you repeatedly do the same stripes each time.
Common weeds There are a lot of weeds in lawns: dandelions, thistles, wild grass, greater plantain and creeping buttercup, daisies - these are all weeds that you would find in a normal standard lawn. Some of these weeds are easy to keep on top of by extracting the root, digging them out and stopping them from spreading. The secret is really to stop them from seeding, so by regular mowing this will also help. Other trickier ones, the lawn weed and feed treatment should take out at the beginning and end of the year. However, if you can stop anything from deep rooting or weeds like daisies becoming a clump as they send runners out and get wider, the same applies to creeping buttercup, if you can stop them creeping then you will ensure that your lawn will become less patchy and less weedy almost instantly for very little effort. Next month I will look at rockeries.
If you have an upcoming event please let me know. If you have a problem in the garden then please contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions. Have a look at the following short video clip that gives advice for small and medium businesses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-rv5j-gQ44 Telephone scams have continued across the county (and country!). They are all a variation on a theme and usually involve you disclosing your bank details or purchasing something with your credit /debit card. Either way the scammer gets your card details and security codes and then starts pretending to be YOU and buys lots of expensive things on your card. Reputable companies don’t sell this way. If you are in doubt, do not buy anything over the telephone. Always report these calls to the police. Please can you pass this message onto any elderly 28
OR via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Police rural crime operations continue. West Mercia Police, working with Dyfed Powys Police, continued a joint policing operation. These night time patrols recently resulted in two arrests and dozens of vehicles stopped. Operations will continue over the spring months! Home security is critical Remember your garden security to protect your items of value in the garden. Also consider your home whilst in the garden. Lock doors and windows to prevent sneak thieves helping themselves whilst you are busy in the garden. Two offences of this type happened during early March.

West Mercia Police Chief Constable David Shaw Announces Retirement West Mercia Police Chief Constable, David Shaw has announced his intention to retire on 31st July 2016. David started his career more than thirty years ago in West Midlands Police rising to the rank of Assistant Chief Constable before joining West Mercia Police in 2008 as Deputy Chief Constable. In August 2011 he was appointed Chief Constable. On announcing his retirement , David said: "It has been an extraordinary privilege to have been part of two teams looking after the communities of West Midlands and West Mercia policing areas. Even after 36 years as a police officer, it is impossible to describe the sense of pride and admiration for what officers and staff achieve every single day. Their courage, humanity and desire to do the right thing remain inspiring. The eight years I have had with West Mercia have been amongst the toughest but also happiest of my service. The successes we have delivered together have only been possible with the outstanding support of colleagues of every role and rank, the energy, skill and tenacity of the Chief Officer Team, my colleagues in Warwickshire Police and of course Bill Longmore, the Police and Crime Commissioner. I will be leaving with a feeling of genuine affection for this force, the people I work with and the area I serve. While I will make sure that I get the chance to say my goodbyes to a whole range of people over the coming months, I just want to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of friends, colleagues and partners who have helped me in so many ways over so many years. In the meantime though, there is a force to lead, there is work to be done and of course I need to prepare the force for my successor and the new Police and Crime Commissioner".

My Blue Heaven H
ave you ever tried to do something that you thought was completely out of your reach? Well, I did and I was totally amazed at how easy it was. If you want a place that is tranquil, relaxing, and peaceful, yet at the same time exiting and thrilling, you should try scuba diving. I did and it was beyond my wildest dreams. I truly have never been so captivated or exhilarated by anything quite so much. I called it is ’my blue heaven’ and it was my very first time to go diving. My husband and I were on holiday in Marseille, France, and I watched with envy as a boat carrying divers left a jetty nearby. I had always wanted to learn but was unsure if I had left it to late. I enoy watching the divers on TV and think, “I would love to do that’ but there was always something stopping me: work, children, and then my age. It was later, after speaking with a dive instructor, Sarah, that she put me right, because if you are a strong swimmer, and in good
32
health, there is no reason not to learn to dive. That was when my nerves set in and I started thinking: could I do it? Well, I needn’t have worried as it all came naturally to me. I had two things in my favour: I’m an excellent swimmer and I love to snorkel. I spent the morning in a classroom and the afternoon with Sarah listening to instructions and getting kitted up. Sarah explained about the breathing apparatus, and that breathing in was easy, but you must remember to breathe out fully. She also taught me important hand signals that I would need. As we slowly sank to the bottom of the pool, I must admit that just for a moment I did panic, it was then that I remembered the breathing instructions. I began to relax and soon became accustomed to the bottom of the pool. After watching Sarah’s instructions I learnt how to remove my mouth-piece underwater, and how to clear water from my mask. I was then instructed to fin around the bottom of the pool twice. I was
really pleased with myself and happy that I had not let my nerves spoil my success. When we emerged from the pool Sarah told me I was a natural, and that she had never instructed anyone so relaxed in water. She invited me to join them on a sea dive the next day and of course I accepted. The following morning Sarah was waiting for me at the boat, and soon we were on our way. We arrived at the dive site and I was helped into my wet suit and other equipment. Sarah showed me on how to roll backwards of the boat, which I successfully. We went down to the seabed slowly, equalising our ears as we went. Oh it was so blue! I was in a fairytale land full of the most fantastic coloured fish. Sarah hovered in front of me signalling for me to follow her. I knew that I had to concentrate on doing exactly that, as it would have been so easy to rush off every time I spotted something of interest. The fish that live and breed in the coral reef also hide their small fry

The reason you can't lose weight
T
here are few things more frustrating than not being able to lose weight. You want to be slimmer and to tone your body, but your weight won’t budge. Read the following 7 Weight Loss Blockers to discover what is standing in your way and how to quickly and easily begin your weight loss journey. Blocker 1: Your Mind Your mind is your number one ally when it comes to achieving your goals. However, until your mind has been programmed for success, it will do more to derail your efforts than to help you. • Take a few moments each day to visualise yourself at your ideal weight. Imagine how it feels to look the way you’ve always wanted. • Protect your mind from any negative self talk. If a negative thought comes to mind, immediately reject it. • You want to be thin and fit, and yet you think of yourself as out-of-shape and fat. Re-programme your mind to think of yourself as fit and attractive, and you will be well on your way toward achieving your goal. • Give up the belief that you can’t achieve the body you’ve always 40
dreamed of. See it first in your mind, and then in the mirror. Blocker 2: Your Fear Change makes most of us nervous, even if it is a change in the right direction. You may not be consciously aware of the fear you have of getting into shape. Until you conquer this fear, your weight loss efforts will be blocked by self sabotage. Professional speaker and author, Anthony Robbins, has outlined three specific beliefs that you must have in order to conquer your fear and instantly create a lasting change. • Believe that something MUST change. You can’t be wishy-washy about it. You can’t be considering it. You can’t even be pretty sure about it. You’ve got to be rock solid. • Believe that YOU must change it. You can’t pass the buck of responsibility and expect to lose weight. It’s on your shoulders. Other people will prove to be great assets in your journey, but in the end you are the one who is going to make it happen. You have to want this weight loss enough to make it your personal mission. • Believe you CAN change it. You may have failed in the past, but that doesn’t matter. When you put your mind to it, you’re able to do
amazing things. Do you believe that you are capable of losing weight? Once you own the belief that you can, you’ll be unstoppable. Blocker 3: Your Excuses Your excuses for being out-of-shape are getting old. An excuse takes less immediate effort than an action, but in the long run the action taker always has the advantage. Don’t allow excuses to ruin your life any longer. • Don’t skip out on your responsibilities with excuses, instead expect more from yourself. • Focus on the big reason why you are losing the weight. Make a list of the benefits you’ll enjoy once you achieve your goal, and read them first thing each morning. • Remember that you can only have two things in life: excuses or results. Which do you want? Blocker 4: Your Commitment How many times have you tried to lose weight, only to give up a week or two later? We live in a commit-mentphobic world, so it’s no wonder that you routinely abandon your goals. If you truly want to lose weight then your commitment to the process is a must. • The margin between success and failure is bridged by your commitment. Don’t give up until your goal has been achieved.

and antioxidants which are vital for healthy weight loss. Snack on these instead of packaged treats.
• Treat exercise with the same importance as a work meeting, and you’ll never skip it at the last minute. Find three available 60-minute time slots in your schedule and mark them (in pen) on your calendar. Now stick to your schedule.
Blocker 6: Your Patience It takes time to transform your body from fat to fit, even though you want it to happen overnight. Remind yourself that it took time to put the weight on, so it will take time to take the weight off. When you find your patience wavering, or when you encounter a frustrating plateau, do the following: • Review your goal. Is it specific and measurable? Is it small and attainable,
• If you don’t give up, then you’ll never fail. Blocker 5: Your Diet If you consistently eat the wrong food, then you’re weight loss efforts will all be in vain. To put it bluntly, you need to stop eating junk. Processed foods, refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup do not belong in your diet if you want to be in great shape. Cut these items out of your diet and replace them with real whole foods like lean meats, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fruits. • Don’t eat processed foods. Even though processed foods are accepted by our society, they contain tons of chemicals and empty calories that will make you sick and fat. • Fat contains twice the caloric density of protein and carbohydrates, so make sure to limit the amount that you consume. Eat lots of lean proteins and wholesome carbohydrates from plants and whole grains. • Vegetables, whole grains, fruits, nuts and seeds are filled with fibre
one is was waiting for them? Who would push themselves if no one was paying attention? Exercising alone is a recipe for disaster. • Find a workout partner who is in better shape than you, or better yet, work with me, your local fitness expert, to guarantee your results. • I am passionate about seeing you achieve results—don’t waste your time, energy and effort on mistakes. • When you start a programme with me, you suddenly have the upper hand on weight loss. I’ll be in your corner, coaching you each step of the way, keeping you accountable to workouts and giving you that dose of encouragement when you need it most. Get serious about your results and begin the last weight loss programme that you’ll ever do.
rather than monumental? Focus on your goal when the going gets tough. • Make each workout a new experience. Challenge your body with different resistance, new exercises and a varied pace.
If you want to get in shape and are interested in Personal Training, Group Training or attending any of the Fitness Classes I offer, go to www.almfitness.co.uk for more information. Alternatively call Amy on 07740 366419 or email info@ almfitness.co.uk
• Remember that anyone can have one great workout, but that won’t get you the body you want. The only way to achieve your goal is by consistently exercising and eating right, plain and simple. Blocker 7: Your Support People who exercise alone are less challenged, less accountable and are more likely to fail. It makes sense. Who would rush to the gym if no

Bell Ringing to Honour Bishampton’s WW1 Fallen
T
he bells of St. James’ Church Bishampton will be rung for the second time on Friday 22nd April to honour one of those who died in the Great War for their country and who is listed on the village war memorial. Acting Corporal Harry Thomas was killed in action on that date 100 years ago at the battle of Ypres in Belgium. He was in the King’s Regiment (Shropshire Light Infantry) and is one of the many thousands who disappeared in the awful conditions of war and who has no grave. Henry was awarded the 1914 Star, the British War Medal 191418 and the Victory Medal. His Commonwealth War Graves Commission certificate will also be displayed in St. James’ Church. Bishampton History Society’s evening bell ringing initiative to honour the deceased soldiers which started on 26th September 2015, to commemorate the death 100 years ago of Private Joseph Masters Ludlow who died at the battle of Loos in Northern France.
The belling ringing is part of the two year Heritage Lottery Funded project about the Great War and its effect on a rural Worcestershire Village which the Society began in 2014. The practice will be repeated at intervals for each of the remaining six soldiers mentioned on the 100th anniversaries of their death up until 2018. The soldiers who will be remembered in this way are: Private George FOLLOWS Kings Royal Rifle Corps, at the battle for Ypres in Belgium. (Sunday 5th June 2016) Private John William MORRISS Prince of Wales Volunteers (South Lancs) Regiment, at Thiepval during the Battle of the Somme in Northern France. (Sunday 3 July 2016) Private Harry Stephen CROUCH 1st Batttalian, Worcestershire Regiment, at one of the battles of the Somme in Northern France. (Tuesday 7 March 2017) Private 14445 Albert Thomas ALDRIDGE (01 April 1918).
4th Royal Marine Battalion, Royal Marines Artillery. Died in an explosion off the coast of Kent whilst rehearsing for the Zeebrugge Raid. Private William George PERKS 10th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment, during a skirmish in Belgium. (Friday 17 April 2017) Private 204324 William Levi HARRIS (03 August 1918). 9th Battalion East Surrey Regiment. Died from gunshot wound whilst in a prisoner of war camp in Trier, Germany. The Society have published a book ‘Those That Served’ with details of all those who served in World War 1 and those who gave their lives for their country following exhaustive research by members Peter Jesson and Charles Rigg. To request a copy of the book, or for more information see www.bishampton.org.uk or contact Chairman Mike Rickard on 01386 462037.
