In honour of St Patrick's Day last month, here are few Irish anecdotes to make you smile . . . !
P
addy was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place. Looking up to heaven he said, 'Lord take pity on me. If you find me a parking place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up me Irish Whiskey!' Miraculously, a parking place appeared. Paddy looked up again and said, 'Never mind, I found one.'
F
ather Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and asks the first man he meets, 'Do you want to go to heaven?' The man said, 'I do, Father.' The priest said, 'Then stand over there against the wall.' Then the priest asked the second man, 'Do you want to go to heaven?' 'Certainly, Father,' the man replied. 'Then stand over there against the wall,' said the priest. Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and asked, 'Do you want to go to heaven?' O'Toole said, 'No, I don't Father.' The priest said, 'I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?' O'Toole said, 'Oh, when I die, yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.'
P
addy was in New York. He was patiently waiting and watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing. The cop stopped the flow of traffic and shouted, 'Okay, pedestrians.' Then he'd allow the traffic to pass. He'd done this several times, and Paddy still stood on the sidewalk. After the cop had shouted, 'Pedestrians!' for the tenth time, Paddy went over to him and said, 'Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?'
W
alking into the bar, Mike said to Charlie the bartender, 'Pour me a stiff one - just had another fight with the little woman.' 'Oh yeah?' said Charlie, 'And how did this one end?' 'When it was over,' Mike replied, 'She came to me on her hands and knees.' 'Really,' said Charles, 'Now that's a switch! What did she say?' She said, 'Come out from under the bed, you little chicken.'
P
atton staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Kathleen. He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful. Managing not to yell, Patton sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a BandAid as best he could on each place he saw blood. He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed. In the morning, Patton woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Kathleen staring at him from across the room. She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?' Patton said, 'Why would you say such a mean thing?' 'Well,' Kathleen said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly . . . . . it's all those Band-Aids stuckPlease on the hall mirror.’ 16 mention The Worcestershire Villager when responding to advertisers. Bill Gates versus General Motors! For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on . . . At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: “If General Motors had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.” In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: "If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:" 1.
For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash . . . . twice a day.
2.
Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3.
Occasionally your car would die on the motorway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.
4.
Occasionally, executing a manoeuvre such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5.
Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.
6.
The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single “This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation” warning light.
7.
The airbag system would ask “Are you sure?” before deploying.
8.
Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
9.
Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
10. You'd have to press the 'Start' button to turn the engine off.
And when all else fails, you could call 'customer service' in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!!!! 22

C.OUNSELLING A.CUPUNCTURE N.UTRITION A Unique Approach to Weight and Health Balancing Obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise are topics that are consistently featured by the media. The government and health service are increasingly concerned about the health of the nation. Despite this, the best way to tackle unhealthy eating and obesity remains an issue and diet programmes proliferate. Therapists, Sue Akehurst (Counsellor), Alison Moon (Acupuncturist), Harriet Kaushal and Sophie Jones (Nutritional Therapists) have designed a programme which is a no-diet approach to support people who have a long-standing unhealthy relationship with food, weight and body image. Each client is fully assessed by the team and together they will provide a flexible package of support to facilitate realistic and sustainable weight and health balancing.
How does the programme work? The programme works on three levels: Body / Mind / Spirit: Counselling: helps to identify and change the thoughts and feelings underlying disordered eating, poor body image and low self worth and works to establish a better relationship with self, others and food. Acupuncture: utilises points to balance energy, support metabolism, help combat cravings, obsessions and addictions. Acupuncture works to improve vitality, a sense of well-being and oers deep relaxation. Nutritional Therapy: uses a detailed questionnaire to identify underlying physiological imbalances that can contribute to weight issues, and develops targeted treatment C.A.N. WEIGHT BALANCE plans to improve health, facilitating COUNSELLING ACUPUNCTURE NUTRITION weight loss naturally.

April & May in the Garden Pest Prevention Prevention is best when it comes to garden pests and if you catch the problem early, you can get control before they really take a hold. Slugs and snails are the real troublemakers and a few pellets sprinkled around your plants should keep them at bay. However there are also a few organic ways to tackle them such as nematodes watered into the soil to attack them. You can also rely on nature's predators such as hedgehogs, toads and thrushes, so encourage them to visit. An old remedy that works a treat is the beer trap; a jar sunk into the ground and filled with beer to attract slugs. Lawn Care Regular mowing will help strengthen your grass and discourage coarser grasses. If your grass is long make sure your mower blade is at its highest setting to avoid turning the grass yellow. You can also tackle any moss problems by aerating the lawn with a fork and raking out any dead grass. This will make it harder for moss to take a hold. Water Plants Warmer weather signals the time to plant aquatic plants in your pond. You'll need a special container for these, made from fine mesh. Fill them with Aquatic Compost, place the plant in the container and fill around it with the compost to about 2.5cm below the rim. Finish with Coarse Grit to prevent the soil from floating away. Make sure you include oxygenating plants to prevent algae developing. Weeds must be removed from ponds regularly otherwise they becomes almost impossible to get rid of. A seive or fishing net is perfect for this job and once removed can be added to the compost heap. Waterlilies are great for discouraging pond weeds as they cover the surface of the pond in the summer. Planting 28
waterlilies now will ensure a lovely floral display for the summer. Hanging Baskets You'll also need to keep an eye on the hanging baskets, they're quite exposed and will dry out quickly, so check them on a daily basis. Recently planted shrubs and trees are also vulnerable so again, keep on top of them so they can establish strong roots. Organic matter such as rotted manure or garden compost dug into the soil will hold the water nicely and support new roots. Water in the evenings so it doesn't evaporate in the heat of the day. Keep weeds at bay Regular hoeing will down weeds as they are much easier to kill before they become large and overpowering, Mulching with organic matter will help prevent the growth of further weeds but make sure you water the soil first to seal in the moisture. Prepare for Summer Bedding Spring flowering plants will be coming to the end of their flowering time and will need clearing in preparation for Summer bedding. Remove the old plants and run a fork through the soil, then add a little organic fertiliser ready for when you plant out. Tie In the Climbers Climbers such as roses and clematis can quickly become unruly and smother other plants, so its important to keep tying the shoots in. Mesh wire netting or trellis are the easiest methods but be careful not to tie them in too tightly.

Tarot Reading for the Star Signs Aries (21st March - 20th April) You’re feeling wise and ready to negotiate with an upcoming challenge in uncovering truths of money matters and that of romance. You understand that part of the goal this month is to be a positive role model and to guard against chaos where possible. In your finances you may want to maintain your well earned current cash flow rather than splurging your finances into unknown territory. You’ve succeeded in making the right choices so far, but still something incompletes you in your career. This month focus is to re-dress the imbalances.
Taurus (21st April - 20th May) One phase is done with, so there’s a feeling of easy going rather than rushing into the next ‘setting in stones planning’. You understand it is better to move on to the next big thing or person slowly. With your finances much digging around is expected for that long term agenda of yours. However as easy going you are the challenge is not to walk away from situations or people that easily. Even though you are aware in the past you had given too much of your time and energy, you’ll keep the balance right that you won’t have to burn bridges.
Gemini (21st May - 21st June) One quest is over that you’ll no longer accept, tolerate, stagnate or sacrifice. You understand there are times when it’s best to carry out the rejections. However, as hypocritical situations can be, you’ll be challenged to give more with little return. Your finances will be going under major changes but not quite fully a life reconstruction as yet. So far you’ve brilliantly dealt with disasters in life that equipped you to deal with any upcoming mental anguish with ease. Be extra prepared on your journeys with plenty of time as the chance of delays, rerouting and cancellations are high only temporary though.
ways you can communicate this positively all around, even though you may not be getting much love messages this shouldn’t get you off your track to fulfilment. In your finances and career uncertainty lingers but you must continue ahead despite the surreal feelings and situations this surrounds you in. With your calmness and positive outlook unconsciously you represent an unknown quantity not to be underestimated.
Leo (23rd July - 22nd August) You don’t want to be held back anymore, and instead committed to getting yourself out of the stagnant phase. There are some things you cannot accept anymore only that what had happened had led you here with no turning back so you are co-dependent no more, to go solo equipped with plenty of financial, emotional and intellectual ammo. You’ll have the chance to show the confident and secure self with a past contact you reunite again. In your love life you want to celebrate and embrace more, like yearning for the emotional stability and considerable control over personal feelings with fertile creativity.
Virgo (23rd August - 22nd September) You may aim to make a wrong choice on purpose and burst someone’s bubble unintentionally. There are some people and situations in life that you just have to be cautious with or to adopt the ‘cruel to be kind’ theory approach. What challenges you is the conscious voice ‘what will people think?’ reminding you of where you moral compass is facing. You have succeeded in trying you hardest in the past until exhaustion so be easy on yourself. Hold those big decisions if you’re unsure on ways you can execute your plans to fruition in your career. Your moves this month could unconsciously create plenty of opportunities on the back burner that will soon present itself in the most unexpected time in future.
Libra (23rd September - 23rd October) Cancer (22nd June - 23rd July)
As you leap your way through unknown territory, you You may feel this month that things will never be the could anticipate madness to occur especially when same again, as you breathe the new air through your you attempt to take the short cuts. If carelessness is transition you aim to block out unhappy thoughts the only way you can get to where you want to then because it’s the only way to move on from here on. so be it. April / May 2011 by Jenny ‘Tarochi’. If you are local and would like to book a private one-to-one reading please call 07716 508499 or for your own personal tarot report please go to www.scribd.com/queenofcongo challenged to hold your ground if you want a harmonious relationship, the key is to take a step back with an expansive outlook on life before you begin your case on rationality. If you succeeded to find a replacement or similarities from the past as clues to fill the void, you know things will never be the same again regardless of what you can hold on to that is familiar.
Scorpio (24th October - 21st November) When you can feel the sensitivity that everything is coming to a head it makes you aware of much to do and settle before you reach some kind of bliss yet you also understand that you can’t have it all. Don’t let your finances represent who you are or dictate you on how you should live your life. The challenge you may face is to have the strength to walk away from situations that could oppress you. With your love life you may decide to show selfless acts to listen more and mend another’s broken wing before your own, perhaps you’ve realised from the past havocs all you could hear was your voice and that it gave a lonely feeling taking centre stage. It is also time to accept what you can create and what ideas too far-fetched to drop. However regardless the soul searching dilemma’s, with your closest of relations this month you’ve come to a ‘break through’ moment.
security for the future could be built upon and this will involve taking care of any emotional issues from the past as priority. Financially due to a large payout made recently this could leave you temporarily trapped. With those closest to you you’ve tried everything you can and that is all the best you could but you also have to deal with your problems before you conjure up the creativity to deal with another. With your love life you are moving towards finding your comfort zone and solutions that will be of a permanent relief.
Aquarius (20th January - 18th February) Too much of the pleasurable things can cause a stir but you’ll aim not to care of other’s views. You understand that you will get back onto the right path again because you’ve already induced a safety net to sort any loose ends, such as your finances also. It may be a while until you see further progress but at least no further damage can be done from here. What you could be challenging this month is showing that the quality of living is not only down to figures, you know that factor alone didn’t complete you. You’ve succeeded to follow a good budget whilst being the generous giver. In your love life, there seems to be a budget on how much more you can give up or give out but remember that quality of life is merely down to figures.
Sagittarius (22nd November - 21st December)
Pisces (19th February - 20th March)
You may feel like you’re ready to face some rough times, so you sit back wisely using all your wits but this insecure feeling could have all come from a series of terrible nightmares lately. Although pay close attention to your dreams where a message extracted could give you the clarification you need in your waking hour. There’s plenty that you are wishing for in your love life, your dreams amplified your individual desires for personal happiness and to keep your secrets close to your heart as they become very important, now is the time to do something about them. Don’t let indecision and work related stress creep in to fade it all too soon.
Worries, regrets and sleepless nights may cause you to be extra sensitive, unyielding to budge an inch and if this is the case, be careful that this ‘rigid’ characteristic isn’t blocking out every trace of your feelings for others or you could turn into your own worst enemy. You understand that is due to a testing time where courage is required for longer term successes. What you could challenge this month is sending out positive, encouraging sweet regards which could help balance your mood swings. When plans are not coming together as hoped it is ok to let go of it momentarily your focus into tackle another, you may even stumble upon the answers. In your love life if at times you don’t have the extra care of for an undivided attention, again come back to this when you are ready. Keep your closest of relations close by as their advice can be worth its weight in gold, besides they are the ones you look up to.
Capricorn (22nd December - 19th January) You cannot just do ‘nothing’ anymore, you’re aiming for a firm basis upon which arrangements and
