Are we stupid . . . or what? In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions found on various consumer goods: On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) : "Do not turn upside down." (well . . . duh . . . a bit late, huh!) On Sainsbury's peanuts : "Warning: contains nuts." (talk about a news ash) On Boot's Children Cough Medicine : "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (we could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get 5 year-olds with head-colds o those bulldozers!) On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding : "Product will be hot after heating." (. . . and you thought . . . ????) On a bar of Dial soap : "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be . . . ???) On a Sears hairdryer : "Do not use while sleeping." (but that's the only time I have to work on my hair!) On a bag of Doritos : "You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside." (the shoplifter special?) On packaging for a Rowenta iron : "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me time?) On some Swanson frozen dinners : "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but . . . it's just a suggestion.) On a Japanese food processor : "Not to be used for the other use." (now, somebody out there, help me on this . . . I'm a bit curious.) On Nytol Sleep Aid : "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (and I'm taking this because . . . ???) On most brands of Christmas lights : "For indoor or outdoor use only." (as opposed to what?) On an American Airlines packet of nuts : "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (step 3: say what?) On a child's Superman costume : "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly." (I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.) On a Swedish Chainsaw : "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." (Oh my God . . . was there a lot of this happening somewhere?) 16

Jehovah's Witness There was a knock on the door this morning, I opened it, and there stood a very smartly dressed young man who said: "I'm a Jehovah's Witness, I’ve come to save you in the name of the Lord". I said "Come in and sit down. What do you want to talk about, and how will you save me"? He said, " I don't know, but I wish I’d taken more notice during training now because I've never got this far before!"
Bush & Obama George Bush and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barber shop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics. As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Bush in his chair reached for the aftershave. Bush was quick to stop him saying, "No thanks, my wife will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse." The second barber turned to Obama and said, "How about you sir ?" Obama replied, "Go ahead: my wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like!"
The Spotted What!? When a conservation and wildlife adviser called John Clarke put a small and unobtrusive advertisement in a selection of parish magazines, the response was remarkable . . . For eight years, John had been working on the remote and windswept Scottish island of Colonsay. Having returned to rural Worcestershire, his imagination was seized by the gradual disappearance of a small migrant bird, the Spotted Flycatcher. Spurred by various sightings, John tramped the villages with his mirror-on-a-stick and documented his findings. This enchanting book, a blend of anecdote and actual scientific research, is the story of his quest for this endearing and elusive bird and of the characters who, fired by his enthusiasm, became so fervently involved in his project. John writes with knowledge, warmth and humour. Birdwatchers will love this book. But so too will many others, those with a passion for wildlife, for the countryside, for conservation and those with an interest in the interaction of man and nature. John's book is a tribute to the Spotted Flycatcher and may well help to halt its decline. He is The Flycatcher Man.
This charming little book has proved to be very popular and would make an ideal present for any bird-watching enthusiast. To order a copy now at the low price of just £3.99 plus £1.00 p&p, call: 01684 833715 28

Early Summer in the Garden There's nothing more enjoyable than a garden that is well-kept and in full bloom. As the summer starts to kick in, your garden should erupt in an explosion of colour, and to help perfect the colour palette, the Royal Horticultural Society recommends planting peonies, delphiniums, campanulas and lupins, and also suggest planting roses alongside deutzias, and mallows (Lavatera) and philadelphus in the shrub border to create a truly spectacular display. Planting If you haven’t done so yet plant out summer bedding into borders, and for extra splashes of colour in your garden you may consider container planting or hanging baskets. Remember to regularly turn your pots so the plants get equal exposure, otherwise the side facing the wall will perform poorly in comparison to the side in direct sunshine. And remember, as a general rule, the larger the container, the happier the plant. As summer peaks large-flowered clematis can be used to scramble over spring-flowering shrubs, such as forsythia. Later on annuals such as Nicotiana and Cosmos are ideal for filling gaps between shrubs, and tender or half-hardy perennials, such as penstemons and diascias, are guaranteed to brighten any bed or border colour schemes. Propagation If you are up to it, get an early start and sow plants for your winter displays. You still have time to sow hardy annuals direct into your borders for a late display in the year. You can continue to take softwood cuttings but do it in the early morning or late evening. Pruning Prune back spring flowering shrubs and cut back and divide spring flowering perennials. 30
You can now cut back the foliage of spring bulbs and also divide them if they are over crowded. Lawns If possible you should now mow your lawn twice a week to get that immaculate finish. Also give them a boost with a recommended fertiliser if the grass is looking a bit tired. Indoors Plants & Greenhouses With the strong sunshine you should shade and ventilate your greenhouses and water more frequently. Indoors plants you'll need to water and feed regularly and give them plenty of light but not the direct kind. Vegetable Garden Make sure you harvest vegetables as they mature, especially salad crops. Plant out tender vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes to get good crops this year. Keep on sowing salad crops; by sowing small quantities at regular intervals of 2 to 3 weeks, you will ensure a continuous harvest. Maintenance Pests and diseases are rampant at this time of the year, so be on your guard! However, please try to do your bit for the environment and use eco-friendly pesticides.

Tarot Reading for the Star Signs Aries (21st March - 20th April) Are you seeking worldly pleasures to fill the void of love? You seem to be giving so much in most things but you do understand you need to assert your control, be disciplined and be a good figure to others. Financially things should seem stable and the challenge of juggling from one account to another is still there. The image you give out is of plenty of celebrations and enjoying the comforts of things you love most. Your love life may need attention as you're reluctant to see the good thing that is right under your nose this month or come to fulfil the hopes and desires. There are plenty of choices you aren't sure which to take, especially in your career as there is something on hold. Expect to have victory and fame in your closest of relations.
Taurus (21st April - 20th May) You have a strong need of harmony, domestic bliss, security and much love. This is possible but you're unwilling to free yourself from the pressures of life and also from the bad memories of a past when it's time to let it go. Don't neglect your finances, you may even be spending much or feel that something is still missing with all that spending. You approach your career with joy as a choice in a specific field is given to you. In your love life, you are ready to settle disagreements and to compromise, whereas in your closest of relations your faith is renewed as a completion gives a joyful feeling.
Gemini (21st May - 21st June) There's a danger you could be deceiving yourself with delusions or a fantasy. If you imagine a future success don't forget to work towards them, if you feel a sense of defeat emotionally this month it may make you feel vulnerable but you challenge this with forging a new path ahead. You may have lots of communications and the much awaited news arriving, your finances look strong and you are creating a carefree relationship amongst your closest of relati ons.
change for good as you enter the new but inside you are not ready to leave a certain situation or mindset just yet. Financially you have the power to change, give shape to a vision and find solution to a problem. You keep working hard this month despite past setbacks you are very motivated. Expect a lot of communication and much awaited news to arrive. You are creating a carefree relationship with your closest of relations and overall you feel the wisdom, the completion of an old door and enter the new.
Leo (23rd July - 22nd August) You could face opposition this month or be fickle, you may need to pay attention to your inner needs or intuition so that the facts behind things can be revealed. You are receiving good news and some propositions regarding your finances, although in your career you may receive miscommunications. In your love life be careful you're not happily playing devil's advocate in arguments or manipulative mind games, although overall you are very charitable with your time and affection.
Virgo (23rd August - 22nd September) There could be restrictions and unpredictability from you where your contradictory behaviour could be from your low energy reserves. Financially this month you could be given something extra like from a charitable deed or you could be giving some back, however you are not likely to take any risks or gamble much away also. You could be feeling guilty over an issue but there is also a new opportunity for happiness this month so look out for it.
Libra (23rd September - 23rd October)
You are aware of what you need to give up to reach your goal and as you relate to your needs you decide how you may get them and expect several offers and choices your way. The factors in your life such as work, seems to be burdensome and you feel your finances are on a slower tempo but you have so much strength to cope with all this month. You are strong, forthright with a vitality attitude towards your closest of relations Cancer (22nd June - 23rd July) and you may even be talking of some business There's a new transformation happening that will propositions. If you are local and would like to book a private one-to-one reading please call 07716 508499 or for your own personal tarot report please go to www.scribd.com/queenofcongo Scorpio (24th October - 21st November) Somehow you question your inner psyche, what will make you feel spiritually wealthy? There may be divisions, conflicts and delays in your plans that you find your commitments in your agenda hard to follow, but despite this you still see the cracks, so you ought to know where you are going and free yourself from restrictive ideas. You feel the uncertainties in your finance and do watch out for any deceit or misjudgements as your intuition is highly accurate this month but fight blockages in your way to move forward. Also look at the underlying causes of your current plans, are you being timid or negative or are you changing direction too fast? You may feel impoverised even if you have money, just shift your mind that's all you need, you have potential to route towards success. Your love life may need attention as one day there's harmony and the next tension, overall love exists for you so take it and give some back. You will feel very close to your closest of relations as this is a new chapter.
Sagittarius (22nd November - 21st December) You fear major changes ahead, a decision is on hold which is creating a stagnant pause but now is the time to make a decision once and for all. You have the opportunity and energy to pursue love, joy and harmony around and the factors in your life this month shows that there is a new door, you gained wisdom from the past and can now enjoy the new. Amongst the conflicts in your life compromise is possible and in your career you are aware of what you have to give up to achieve your goal. Consciously you are getting a hold of your life, being in control, disciplined and victorious in your undertakings, family and close relations may have given you a setback or a painful experience but this is why you've come out the victorious one.

Listen to the guidance you'll be given because from this you may find yourself focusing on the changes of your life towards financial and spiritual growth. In your love life you find it difficult to release yourself from a past situation but don't let this blind you to see current opportunities. Pay close attention to your career, are you confident if not why and be vigilant but don't be afraid when a safe path awaits you because this month is the start of when you take off your blindfolds to clarity. Things will be moving forward again in your closest of relations and you'll be getting new connections.
Aquarius (20th January - 18th February) You need to establish your connections around you and with everyday life and especially this month you will be in much communication with your closest of relations. Share the load such as the frustrations with others and you have much energy left to face life as it comes. Be careful not to take risks without thinking of consequences just because you are very carefree. You seem to have control and some success in your financial dealings this month, although the effort to work at the speed in it can seem tedious. You are not ready to reach an end to a decision or to leave your lover as it holds a valuable meaning to you. Listen to a guidance given regarding you career it will be a spiritual awakening that's beneficial.
Pisces (19th February - 20th March)
Something may still seem to be missing despite the apparent joys, gathering and completions, but could this be because you are living life with a closed heart this month to avoid change purposely? This is the time to release negativity, blocks, fears and imprisonment. Try not to lose control and authority in your finances this month, as this month you have the power, control and discipline to the road of Capricorn (22nd December - 19th January) victory in your undertakings.
