Linseed Oil

One of the European superfood is linseed (aka flaxseed), that is considered to be the best vegan source of Omega 3 fatty acid, wich is acutally one of the essential fatty acids, that can not be produced by the human or animal body, but is necessary for them to function properly. Due to its high vitamin E content, linseed oil has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. It can help in the development of the sceletal system, and maintain bone and skin health. Linseed oils polyphenol, lignan and phytosterol content (with outsanding antioxidant capacity) helps fight against diseases and strengthens the immune system. It can also have a positive effects on the cardiovascular and the nervous system.

Linseed oil is a good salad oil, it goes well with caraway seeds, ground paprika, garlic, cottage cheese, or sheep’s milk cheese. Some plain cream cheese sprinkled with linseed oil and some chopped red onions makes a great and healthy breakfast. 
