General Manager/COO's Message (336) 275-8506
Dear Members, I would like to thank everyone for the great feedback I have been receiving about the improvements in service in the food and beverage area. Numerous members have called me over to their tables expressing how staff knows their drinks, names and special requests. We are working hard with ongoing training, steps of service, and other initiatives to make the members' experience memorable. Please keep me informed as we continue to train the staff to make more strides in this area.

Recently I had an interesting conversation with a member about GCC and why this career is so exciting. It is something new and different each and every day to use my competencies, education and experience. I told the member we are 20 different Industries in one. Let me explain. We are: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

In addition to these independent businesses in one, we are stewards of the Board of Director’s Strategic Plan which is a blueprint for the Club to meet goals that speak to the Club’s Mission, Vision and Core Values: Family, Tradition, Excellence. In keeping with our vision, the Club is now working to address our facilities needs as part of the Strategic Initiative for enhancement of our facilities. As you are aware, we are at the beginning stages of a very exciting and significant plan to enhance our pool, dining areas and parking. We will add another “industry” to our list – construction and renovation. This is a very exciting time for GCC. We are looking forward to the final product as we move forward through this process. We will keep you informed every step of the way! For details of the GCC Strategic Plan for 2018-2021: Update: Q1 2019 from the Operations side, please visit the Website at www.greensborocc.org. Dart League
Sustainability at GCC
Ridin’ Darty takes the title in extra innings! Captain Alex Hale and his Ridin’ Darty team won by one point over Make Darts Great Again, captained by James Mitchell. It was a great season and only fitting that it came down the last throw! Congratulations to the Make Darts Great Again team, who lead the season long points standing and entered the playoffs as the #1 seed.
Our new GCC tumbler has quickly gained popularity as Members have pre-ordered multiples for themselves and as gifts. The new GCC Polar double wall thermal tumbler, with copper vacuum insulation and clear acrylic lid keeps liquids hot for up to 8 hours and cold for 16 hours. Order your GCC Polar tumbler for $15, billable to your Member account, by calling the Reception desk and be sure to bring it with you for your next round of golf, tennis or visit to the fitness center. We are confident that these tumblers will help GCC be environmentally friendly and keep your beverages the perfect temperature, too!

The story of Chehalem is rooted in a deep and abiding reverence for the land. From the vineyards they nurture and harvest to the wine they blend and age – they handle every step with respect to their fruit and an unwavering standard of sustainable practices. They consider themselves a vineyard winery. They aim to reflect what the vineyard has produced, purely, with minimal processing and without compromising great fruit.
After more than 23 years of growing grapes for some of Napa Valley’s finest wineries, the Hill Family decided to produce their own wines. In 2001, Hill Family Estate released their first vintage, a “Beau Terre” vineyard designated Merlot and proprietary blend by the name of “Origin.” By definition, Origin is the foundation, the beginning of something. For the Hills, their passion for wine and love for the Napa Valley all begins with family.

No one would ever have imagined what would be found when he met an untimely end, hit by a speeding sports car in front of the Labachio Hotel and Casino. Only expert sleuthing would produce a winning hand and solve the case. Ladies Golf Opening Breakfast and Putting Tournament Tuesday, April 2nd
Our Ladies Golf season started with a breakfast and what was supposed to be a golf event. With the inclement weather, we moved into the ballroom for a putting tournament. With the “golf course” strategically laid out around tables and chairs, the ladies had a wonderful time together.
A Rare Accomplishment! Tuesday, March 26th is a day GCC member, Andrew Ketner, will not soon forget! He made a Hole-in-One or Albatross on Irving Park’s Par 4 13th Hole!
(L to R) Guest - Jamie Donaldson, Andrew Ketner, Billy Buchanan & Curtis Holmes
Staff Development Our Professional Staff continues to gain education and experience that is vital to their success as Golf Professionals. Holt Durham is the latest professional to accomplish a significant milestone, by earning his PGA of America Membership. The road to PGA Membership is normally a three-year apprenticeship of seminars, testing and work experience. He accomplished this in an impressive 16 months. Congratulations, Holt!
