Greensboro Country Club

March | April 2025

COO/General Manager's Message

Dear Members,

As we bid farewell to a record cold winter of snow and ice, we eagerly anticipate the warmth of spring and the return of cherished traditions at Greensboro Country Club. The upcoming season brings exciting events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Brunch, and our highly anticipated Spring Carnival.

We are pleased to share that our Club continues to grow, with nearly 1,300 Member Families and a goal of reaching 1,400. To support this growth and ensure the sustainability of Greensboro Country Club, we have adjusted our Initiation Fee to $40,000 for new Members, increasing incrementally with every 25 new additions. Your support in expanding our Membership base is crucial as we invest in our facilities and maintain the Club's legacy.

To encourage Membership growth, we offer enticing rewards for sponsors who introduce "Just 1" new Member each year: a $100 credit towards your monthly statement, a $250 Dinner Certificate for four at Irving Park including beer and wine, and an exclusive GCC Logo item. Additionally, sponsors and their spouses are invited to our annual "Just 1" Sponsoring Celebration, featuring hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and exciting door prize drawings, along with this year's special bourbon and wine tasting theme. Members who sponsor more than one new Member are eligible for an exclusive drawing, with one lucky winner receiving a Culinary Dinner Event for four with Chef Shayne – an unforgettable experience.

We are committed to providing exceptional service and quality to enhance every Member's experience. Your feedback through our survey system is invaluable, guiding us to consistently improve. Recent results reflect our dedication, with December’s Net Promoter Score (NPS) rising to 76 from 60 the previous year, and January's NPS reaching 80 compared to 68 last year. Your input drives immediate improvements, holds our staff accountable, and directs targeted training efforts, all aimed at enhancing your Membership experience.

While several smaller repair and maintenance projects are underway behind the scenes at the Club, our most significant focus this year is the renovation and facelift of the Ballroom. This project not only enhances a key gathering space for Members but also strengthens the overall value of Membership.

Our vibrant events business plays a critical role in maintaining the affordability of our restaurant offerings. By operating the restaurants as a Membership amenity, we provide a variety of dining options for lunch and dinner at top-quality experiences for competitive prices—all subsidized through your monthly dues. Private events, however, are structured with a healthy profit margin, allowing us to balance the Club's Food and Beverage operations in a way that benefits the Membership.

A newly renovated Ballroom will elevate the experience for all Member events while also attracting more weddings, parties, and other private gatherings. These events not only enhance our Club's reputation but also generate revenue that helps offset restaurant expenses, ultimately preserving the exceptional dining value you enjoy as part of your Membership.

As we prepare for an exciting summer ahead, our team is planning a diverse lineup of events for your enjoyment. Your thoughts and ideas are vital to us, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Greensboro Country Club an exceptional community.

Warm regards,

2025 Season Outlook

A long winter sets us up for an eventful spring! However, to properly close out the cold season, we must begin the 2025 golf season with the Eskimo Open on March 1 at the Farm. A few days following, we will also be closing out the Dart League season on March 4. While the golf staff enjoys the warmth and controlled conditions of the Clubhouse as much as our participants, we’re looking forward to the 2025 golf tournament season!

GCC is pleased to offer the opportunity to introduce your young ones to the great game of golf with our weekly Future 36ers classes that will start on Sunday, March 9 at Irving Park! This program is a great chance for our youngest Members to interact with our world-class instruction staff in a more intimate, smaller group size that can make the information easier to digest for young beginners.

We will be closing out the month and hopefully welcoming in some warmer weather with our Ladies Opening Day and Gentleman’s Breakfast Tournament. We hope the warm coffee and pancakes will bring along some more golf-friendly weather! Last but certainly not to be overlooked are our deadlines for our season-long tournaments! The Men’s FourBall, Mixed Four-Ball and Men’s IP Match Play offer our golfers multiple chances throughout the year to casually compete as a team with friends while also making acquaintances with fellow Members.

We are excited to resume outdoor activities and look forward to a memorable 2025 season!

A Great Season!

Winter temperatures mean more than just snowflakes at GCC! Over the years, our annual Dart League has brought competition and laughter indoors while we weather the chills of winter. Over 300 Members came out every Tuesday evening to showcase their pin-point accuracy. Teams competed head-to-head playing three games of action-packed “baseball” each night. In comparison to other tournaments led by the golf staff, the Dart League brings all the participants together in one room offering a more social dynamic, and this year certainly did not vary from that trend. Thank you to all who attended and we look forward to next year's Dart League!
