Have a sports-loving kid? Host a birthday party at the Fieldhouse! Available in two-hour time blocks, each party rental includes a playing surface as well as an eating/seating area to enjoy your cake! Bring your own food, we will take care of the tables, chairs, and invitation template. Party blocks are available for certain times and dates and prices vary by playing surface.

GOLF SIMULATORS

Choose from dozens of available courses or choose one of the simulated driving ranges and break-down your swing statistics. Kids can play too with games like skee-ball and miniature golf. MAIN TURF FIELD

A regulation futsal size indoor turf field, for open turf time as well as scheduled programs and leagues in sports such as futsal, soccer, badminton, lacrosse and more. Bleacher seating for nearly 200 spectators, as well as overlook seating from the lobby is available to watch the events on the field.

AUXILIARY TURF FIELD

This smaller version of our main turf field can host tiny soccer, bocce, aerobics/boot camp classes, among other programs, and leagues.

MAIN GYMNASIUM

Sanded down and completely refinished, we were able to preserve the floors from the old Greenwood Middle School gymnasium. Newly lined for four pickleball courts, one volleyball court, one full-court and two short-court basketball courts, and with seating for over 300 spectators, the options for this playing surface are plentiful.

PRACTICE COURT

This court is lined for volleyball and pickleball and includes four basketball goals that can be lowered to eight feet. Rentable for birthday parties or private lessons.

WALKING TRACK

Take a lap, or ten on our 1/10th of a mile elevated walking track! Enjoy views of the basketball courts below as you walk. Stop off on some of the pieces of stretching or fitness equipment located on the inside of the track and create your own fitness circuit workout. Walking track is included in day pass admission.

It’s a day for the Dogs!

When the water park closes for the humans, it opens for the dogs! For one afternoon, bring your doggies out for a fun day at the water park! Free Admission, Donations will be accepted in monetary or supplies to go to the Humane Society of Johnson County!! *Puppies must be at least 6 months old and have current shot records upon entry to the event. *Health Safety Board Regulations require that humans are not permitted to swim with the dogs. *One handler per dog and must be in sight of their dog at all times.

YOGA / CIRCUIT TRAINING

The SilverSneakers Circuit workout offers standing, low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball. SilverSneakers Yoga, offers a chair so you can perform a variety of seated and standing poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. You’ll also practice breathing and relaxation exercises to reduce stress.

FENCING

Have you ever wanted to try your hand with a sword? Here’s your opportunity with this exciting new program. Students will learn the basics of fencing: footwork, blade work, rules and tactics, as well as participating in fun fencing games. This class is taught by Anthony Joslin, a trainer of the 2013 US Youth National Champion. Rent the necessary protective gear (head piece, chest piece and gloves) for just $20 per session.

CO-ED VOLLEYBALL

The Greenwood Parks & Recreation Department offers adult co-ed volleyball leagues in both competitive and recreation divisions. We play four different 5-week sessions each year. Each team plays eight 3-game matches plus a singleelimination tournament each session. Games are played at the Greenwood Community Center on Sunday afternoons/evenings.

PICKLEBALL LADDER LEAGUES

Join our Pickleball Ladder Leagues and enjoy competitive play with fellow enthusiasts. Our leagues are open to players aged 18 and above, with separate divisions for men, women, and coed play. Monday evenings feature the Open Men’s Ladder and Open Women’s Ladder, each accommodating 40 players per week, while Wednesday evenings host the Open Coed Ladder with space for 80 players per week.

Tiny Programs

MONTESSORI BEGINNINGS

Montessori Beginnings is a Montessori playgroup for babies and toddlers from birth through two years of age with a caregiver. The young children explore the environment, practice self-feeding with a nutritious snack, then join parents for circle time that includes singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments.

TEENIE TINY DANCE CLASSES

Teenie Tiny Toes Dance Class

This class is for children ages 18 months through 3 years old. Caregiver participation required. This is a fun class focused on dancing, music, movement, playing with other children and bonding with the caregiver.

Teenie Tiny Dancers Class

This class is geared for kids ages 3 to 6 years old. Engaging music is used along with props such as scarves, egg shakers, bean bags etc. This class enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Children dance in this class on their own. Caregivers observe in the room.

TINY TRIPS

Keep Kid City at the Greenwood Community Center in mind for upcoming field trip opportunities for your preschoolers or kindergarteners.

We allow groups during regular business hours at a cost of $5 per child.

Additionally, we offer a program called “Tiny Trips.” These more formalized field trips last 90 minutes, allowing 60 minutes of play time in Kid City and approx. 30 minutes for an organized program led by our Youth Programming and Activities Coordinator for your group. Cost is just $5 per child and should be paid in one lump payment for your group prior to or upon arrival the day of your field trip.

“Tiny Trips” are generally available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and can be booked directly with Erin Swisher, Youth Programming and Activities Coordinator at 317.883.8066.

Ideal adult to child ratio is 1:5 at a minimum.

Dive deeper into the world of technology with our Robotics Class, where kids will learn to code their own robots and program them for autonomous motion. Join us on this no-hassle excursion to the Magnificent Mile -- one of the most iconic shopping areas in the world. This cosmopolitan, history-packed strip is located along Michigan Avenue and includes department stores, multistory retail centers, luxury boutiques and brand name retail chains. Ride our deluxe motor coach and be dropped off at the famous Water Tower Place -- home of the American Girl Place and the LEGO Store. Bus leaves at 8 am and returns at 10 pm. You’ll have about six (6) hours of shopping time.

SPECIAL EVENTS Community Camp Out

Join us for our 3rd Annual Community Campout on Saturday, September 14 located in Freedom Park. What a great way to kick off the fall season! We encourage you to be a part of this tradition. The event will include dinner, fishing derby, movie, camp fire, breakfast and many more fun activities

Price per campsite: $50.00 (max campers per site - 6) 1 tent per campsite location - 50 campsites available.

Event Guidelines

No RV’s or campers will be allowed. Tents Only - Tent locations are first come/first serve

A parent or guardian must stay on the site with their family all night. You will be required to sign in and designate the adult who is staying on the site.

Families are encouraged to stay all night, however if a family chooses to leave the campsite early for whatever reason, they may do so, but must notify event staff before departing the park.

No individual ground fires/campfires allowed. We will have a campfire provided by the Greenwood Fire Foundation.

No outside grills allowed

No consumption of alcohol or use of tobacco products allowed on park property.

Severe Weather Information

If severe weather occurs during the event or overnight such as thunderstorms, lightning or heavy rain, Freedom Springs will be designated as the event shelter. Parks and Recreation will require everyone to move indoors. It will be the participant’s decision whether you stay indoors at Freedom Springs during the inclement weather or go home.

GREENWOOD SPORTS PARK GRAND OPENING

The Greenwood Sports Park will be a state-of-the-art baseball/softball facility inclusive of eight fully-lit diamonds, all with artificial turf infields and natural grass outfields. The park will also feature an inclusive playground, the city’s second splash pad, a multi-use playing field, and a multi-use trail system throughout. Greenwood Parks & Recreation will be able to grow and enhance youth and adult programs extensively as a result of the new fields, and host tournaments and weekend events at the park.

Dog Parks

Become a dog park member and let your fourlegged friends run free, find new playmates or test their agility skills on various obstacles.

Dog Parks are open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year.

Registration information:

• Annual membership is $50 per dog, per tag. ($45 for Greenwood residents)

• Proof of current dog vaccinations must be provided at registration.

• Owners must register their dogs at the Greenwood Community Center or Greenwood Fieldhouse

Dog Park Guidelines:

• All dogs must have current membership tag.

• Children under 12 are not allowed inside Dog Parks.

• No more than 3 dogs per handler.

• Dogs under 4 months of age are not permitted.

• Owners should ALWAYS clean up after their dog.

• No food or treats (human or dog) allowed in dog parks.

• Dog owners are legally responsible for their dogs.

GREENWOOD PARKS FOUNDATION

PAWS FOR PARKS

Created in 2019 to support Greenwood’s Parks & Recreation Department, the Greenwood Parks Foundation strives to preserve, protect and enhance public parks, green spaces and recreational programming throughout the city to improve the quality of life for all residents.

Greenwood’s Parks & Recreation Department currently cares for 14 parks spanning 271 acres, more than 20 miles of linear trails and a variety of high-quality recreational facilities including Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, The Greenwod Fieldhouse, and the Greenwood Community Center, home to Kid City and The Gym. The Foundation’s goal is to help the Parks Department grow, cultivate, expand and improve its facilities and programming to provide all with access to green spaces, outdoor fun and creative programming.

THINGS TO KNOW

• You will receive a registration confirmation by e-mail if you register online. Please plan to attend your class or activity at the stated time, unless you are otherwise notified.

• Checks should be made payable to Greenwood Parks & Recreation

• Please indicate on your registration form if you need ADA accommodations.

• Returned checks will be assessed a $5 service fee and payment must be made in full with cash

• If you need additional registration forms they are available at the front counter of the Greenwood Community Center.

• A Greenwood city resident must have a valid driver’s license as a proof of residency in order to be charged the resident rate. All persons without proper identification will be charged the nonresident rate until residency can be established.

Refund Policy

1. Full Refunds will be made upon cancellation of a class or activity by the Parks & Recreation Department

Program confirmations will be mailed. Please register in person to join a session that has already started.

Visit our website greenwood.in.gov/parks and click the link to register online. If you have previously registered for a program, or have had a membership in the last year, please call 317-881-4545 for your username and password.

Register Early!

Most programs have limited space available as well as registration deadlines. After the registration deadline please call for space availability.

2. No refunds will be given after the class/ program or event begins. The only exception is an injury, which prohibits participation in the class/program. The refund is subject to prorating and must be claimed before the end of the program.

3. Rental cancellations (for any reason including weather) must be made a minimum of 10 business days in advance to receive a refund of the rental fee. Cancellations shall be assessed a $10 or 15% Administration Fee for processing.

4. All refunds will be issued through the city claim process that takes approximately 1-2 weeks.

Inclement Weather Policy

If Greenwood Community Schools close due to inclement weather, Before/After School will not be held. If schools are on a two-hour delay Before School will still be held and buses will pick up children from the Greenwood Fieldhouse at the appropriate time. If the Mayor declares a snow emergency, all Parks & Recreation facilities and programs will be closed or canceled. Any other weatherrelated cancellations or delays will be posted on Facebook and our Greenwood Parks & Recreation App.

Annual Membership Passes to all of the Greenwood Parks and Recrea�on Dog Parks and Recrea�on Dog Parks are issued for a one-year period and are good for 365 days from the date of purchase. The number of Annual Membership Passes sold each year will be limited to 500 dogs, and memberships will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis **All owners/members must be atleast eighteen (18) years of age, and present proof of current vaccina�ons for their dogs as part of the membership applica�on process Owners/members are responsible for keeping their dogs’ vaccina�ons current and up-yo-date at all �mes. The Greenwood Parks Dog Parks strive to provide a fun environment for owners and their dogs. By using the Dog Parks, users must understand that they assume all responsibility and liability for the risks of unleashing their dog(s) in this facility. Greenwood Parks Dog Parks are not a supervised facility. Users therefore are required to abide by the rules and etiquette at all times while on the premises.
