EDITOR S L E T T E R The twelfth edition of GREY/BLACK denotes the completion of its first cycle; a year of our vision’s growth and maturation. In contrast to many of its previous issues that focused on a grey and black palette, this edition embraces colour. In order to celebrate the conclusion of this cycle and to signal our embarkment onto new beginnings, we felt it appropriate to attempt to venture past our greyscale realm and into a more colourful territory. With colour saturation bombarding the runways and mega-trends such as grunge and pattern clash, we wanted to explore colour while still remaining true to our own aesthetic. In this issue, we re-discover colour through our Design section with “μ-ΑΣΤΕΡΦΟΥΛ”, a micro furniture series that equitably combines modern shapes and colour. Finally, our colour-infused celebratory edition ends with the presence of the complete colour spectrum, combined to create pure white. For that reason, we chose to showcase the mostly white, conceptual art exhibition of Michael Anastassiades, poetically titled “Reload the Current Page”.

C H R O M AT I S M Our colour exploration begins with a visual colour mix.

A combination of solid colours paired up with lace and patchwork elements construct the signature aesthetic for SELF-PORTRAIT’s first collection. Classic, feminine silhouettes yet with an urban twist, formulate a covetable collection with each piece being uniquely detailed. We combined graphic lip colour to create a colour-blocking effect and enhance the collection’s chromatic impact.

S A T U R A T I O N A blend of menswear trends is presented in our saturated interpretation of grunge and its current huge impact on fashion. Infused with hip hop influences, we designed a street-style character appropriate to our own aesthetic and our menswear colour story.

O PA L E S CENCE Concluding our colour exploration journey, we wanted to pay homage to the British punk references in grunge fashion and chose to integrate it with cropped silhouettes and the forthcoming lingerie trend for spring. Leathers, tartan, sheer fabric and furs, set against an opalescent backdrop suffused with rich colour, intertwine to construct the transitional wardrobe through spring.

μ-ΑΣΤΕΡΦΟΥΛ

“μ-ΑΣΤΕΡΦΟΥΛ” is the new micro furniture series of the company Masterful Creations - M.Constantinides Furnishings, designed by the interior & furniture designer Christiana Constantinidou. Christiana wanted to shrink her passion and love for wood and colour into the micro-furniture “μ- AΣΤΕΡΦΟΥΛ” which have a playful designed character ready to adjust within each space indoor or outdoor.

Those unattractive corners and unappealing spots in a space cease to be trivial and become unique with the “μ-ΑΣΤΕΡΦΟΥΛ”. These “sweet” pieces of craftsmanship fit in such areas, adding them colour and uniqueness, while also confirming to us that size does not always make the difference!

We proudly present Michael Anastassiades’ latest work Reload the Current Page, an installation of conceptual objects produced for the occasion of the artist’s solo exhibition in Cyprus. Anastassiades’ work is characterized by an elegant simplicity that encapsulates poetic and philosophical suggestions, displaying a fine balance between art and design. His creative approach follows a reductive process that removes any excess information and distills the essence of the object. His work is both functional and conceptual: it addresses practical and emotional needs while suggesting a multilayered reading of symbolic associations.
