Today we are sure about one thing: almost nobody among the most qualified economists on the surface of the earth can predict the future. All

the crises that have been guessed, hazarded or supported by the estimates in

these last few years have not come true. Those who thought 2012 to be the right year in this sense (also because they had already said “the second half of 2010” and then “by the year 2011”, so they didn’t seem to have a lot of choices left) almost got it right, but even though there were really good results at the beginning, the second half of 2012 didn’t meet the expectation of the audience, so everybody now looks with hope towards the year 2013, though it already seems to be characterized by changing fortunes. In Italy the situation has long risked to be stuck in doldrums (and this would have caused a long-term damage) also because of political reasons, since the Italian government has proved to be absent during the election period and really unsure after it. Before press time (half June 2013) some reforms aimed at starting to change the situation –also as far as companies are concerned- should have been already approved, though time only will tell whether this will suffice.

Anyway, some clues will also be provided by the trade fairs we are going to present, as we always do, through the pages of Showcase, just before these events in Florence, Milan and Paris start. The trade shows of these important fashion cities, involving all the sectors of the entire manufacturing process to the finished product, are the litmus test that usually helps us in defining this situation, since in the last couple of years the forecasts based on the results of the fairs have showed to be right, at least for those who have exhibited: those small and middle enterprises or instead who couldn’t count on such important showcase opportunities have been seriously affected by the crisis. A lot of contacts, a greater number of visitors (with some rare exceptions) and a great attention to the products: this all has contributed to the significant results achieved also by Pitti Uomo (though not just at this fashion event), where several authoritative voices have shared their opinion with us in the interviews you will have the pleasure to read. Then, given the success of issue 151 if Showcase, we are going to give you again some tips about the places where those who travel a lot for work should absolutely go to have a break from their humdrum routine and want to have a good dinner or just some fun.

Ormai è certo. Nessuno o quasi degli economisti più accreditati sulla faccia della Terra ha un futuro come mago: ogni previsione rischiata, tentata o suffragata dai dati che è arrivata negli ultimi anni in materia di fine delle crisi non è stata indovinata.

Ci è andato vicino chi aveva visto nel 2012 l’anno buono (anche perchè dopo aver detto “seconda metà del 2010” e “in tutto il 2011” le scelte erano quasi obbligate) ma alla fine il buon inizio non ha trovato conferma nella seconda parte dell’anno e quindi i buoni propositi sono rimandati ad un 2013 che però sta andando avanti tra alti e bassi. In Italia la situazione ha rischiato a lungo di restare stagnate (e quindi di rovinarsi ulteriormente) anche per motivi politici, con un governo prima assente per motivi elettorali e poi un po’ titubante. Al momento di andare in stampa (metà giugno) un primo abbozzo di riforme atte a smuovere le acque anche per le aziende sembra aver preso corpo ma sarà il futuro a dire se è sufficiente o no.

Qualcosa potrebbero dire anche le fiere che andiamo a presentare come di consuetudine sulle pagine di Showcase, che ritorna puntuale alla vigilia del trittico Firenze-Milano-Parigi. Il trittico di appuntamenti che unisce i vari settori della filiera fino al prodotto finito è sempre una buona cartina di tornasole ed in effetti negli ultimi due anni le indicazioni raccolte in fiera sono state veritiere, quantomeno per chi in fiera è andato ad esporre: meno bene invece è andata ad aziende medie o piccole senza una vetrina d’eccellenza che hanno dovuto pagare dazio alla crisi. Tanti contatti, visitatori in aumento (salvo rare eccezioni) e attenzione al prodotto: il tutto anche ma non solo per un risultato apprezzabile anche a Pitti Uomo, dove abbiamo raccolto le voci autorevoli che potete apprezzare nelle nostre interviste.

E poi, visto l’apprezzamento nel numero 151 di Showcase, vi riproponiamo anche quale indirizzo utile per chi viaggia per lavoro e vuol interrompere il tran tran degli affari con una buona cena o un po’ di divertimento.

When trade fairs In fiera c’è più gusto! become trend fairs di Matteo Grazzini Every year there are people who ask, stand by stand, through the corridors of the fairs and from a city to another: “But do trade fair still have the same value they once had?”

We know, indeed, that with the help of the internet there are no more distances, the smartphones are essential for anyone hoping to handle work outside of an office, and you can send a zip-file with all the collection’s samples via mail..

But the answer to this question is “yes”, anyway: because a trade fair is the only place where you can have a direct contact with customers, because the sense of touch can’t be totally replaced by the sense of sight, because a picture doesn’t reproduce the colors of the fabrics as they really are, because resistance of can’t be evaluated by a click on a PC, and so on. Furthermore, this virtual world can’t be enough if it deals with getting to know other people, exchanging information and suggestions, discovering the “secret methods” of rival companies or conquering new markets.

That’s why every year trade fairs keep on showing good numbers –and a very positive trend in the last eighteen months.

The person who is now writing has taken part to a successful Techtextil trade fair, which has displayed a positive trend in this system, no matter what will follow in terms of the future sales, also proving that these kinds of events keep on personally involving both people and companies. Indeed, as many as 99 companies will participate in this 73rd edition of Pitti Filati, 20 of which from other countries than Italy, while the Fashion At Work creative area is going to host 23 exhibitors. The last Summer edition of the fair saw the presence of 4,600 people -buyers and visitors- of which 2,340 (or 51% of the total) were the foreign buyers from the main reference markets that are still: Germany,

Ogni anno c’è una domanda che gira di stand in stand, di corridoio in corridoio, di città in città: “ma venire in fiera ha ancora lo stesso valore di una volta?”.

D’altronde Internet ha azzerato le distanze, gli smartphone sono uffici portatili, con una mail invii un file zippato con tutto il campionario…

Ma la risposta quasi generale è “sì”: perché solo in fiera puoi incontrare di persona certi clienti, perché il tatto non può essere sostituito in toto dalla vista, perché una fotografia non ha i colori reali di un tessuto, perché la resistenza di un filato non si misura con i tasti del computer e via di seguito. In più non può bastare il mondo virtuale per fare conoscenze, scambiare informazioni e consigli, scoprire i “trucchi” dei concorrenti, aggredire mercati nuovi.

Ecco perché di anno in anno i numeri delle fiere si mantengono buoni, con un trend positivo negli ultimi diciotto mesi.

Chi scrive è reduce da un positivo Techtextil che, al di là di quello che porteranno gli affari, ha evidenziato una decisa tonicità del sistema fieristico e della capacità delle singole manifestazioni di spostare persone e aziende.

Quasi cento (99) quelle che saranno all’edizione numero 73 di Pitti Filati, con venti aziende provenienti dall’estero e con 23 espositori all’interno dell’area Fashion At Work. Alla Fortezza da Basso la base di partenza sono i 4.600 buyer e visitatori all’ultima edizione estiva, dei quali 2.340 (51%) i buyer dall’estero e quindi dai principali mercati di riferimento che rimangono Germania, Gran Bretagna, Francia, Giappone, Olanda, Belgio, Russia, Turchia, Cina e Corea.

Quella di questa estate è un’edizione che vede il ritorno o il debutto di nomi come Code (Gran Bretagna), Julia Pines (Gran Bretagna), Yellow Minnow (Gran Bretagna) e Peclers Paris (Francia).

This next Summer edition will see the coming back or the debut of names like: Code (Great Britain), Julia Pines (Great Britain), Yellow Minnow (Great Britain) and Peclers Paris (France).

This all will be part of the 2014/2014 F/W international preview of knitting collections, in a sector (knitting) that is at the bottom of the production chain in the fashion industry, though it is the weakest sector, as well (not because of its faults, but because of the fact that a crisis usually affects the upstream industries first). And this year’s theme, ‘Love’, will give comfort to those who still passionately try to preserve the highest quality that characterizes the “Made-in-Italy” alone. Again, under the artistic direction of fashion designer Angelo Figus and knitting expert Nicola Miller, surrounded by the exhibition setting by Alessandro Moradei, people don’t have but to enjoy the new trends.

Among the related projects proposed by this famous Florentine event we also remember the fourth edition of “Feel the Yarn”, the fashion competition for future designers dedicated to students from selected fashion schools and institutes among the best in the world, aimed at the development of the creative sector to which all the highly qualified Italian knitting manufacturers belong, and the Vintage Selection at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence that usually takes place alongside with Pitti Filati.

After the Summer otherfairs are going to take place, starting with Milano Unica: its slogan, which appears to be really ambitious and difficult to put into practice (“Beauty will save the world”) has accompanied the presentation of the new fashion trends, under the supervision of Angelo Uslenghi, and it has its roots in the work“Idiot” by Dostoevskij. “This very statement”, says Uslenghi, “that we hear a lot of times and in a lot of situations nowadays , was meant by the author to ambiguously refer to both what is beautiful and what is good.” “In this

Il tutto per l’anteprima mondiale autunno/inverno 2014-2015 delle collezioni di filati per maglieria, base della filiera e anello debole non per propri demeriti ma perché la crisi parte da monte. Il fatto che il tema di questa stagione sia l’amore (Love) non può che essere di conforto per chi cerca di mantenere con passione una qualità che solo il made in Italy può garantire.

Con la consueta direzione artistica del fashion designer Angelo Figus e dell’esperta in maglieria Nicola Miller e l’allestimento di Alessandro Moradei le tendenze sono tutte da gustare.

Tra i tanti temi collaterali al salone fiorentino anche la quarta edizione di “Feel the Yarn”, il concorso dedicato agli aspiranti stilisti provenienti da una selezione tra le migliori scuole di moda internazionali e finalizzato ad ampliare la creatività espressa dai filati prodotti dalle più qualificate filature italiane, e la Vintage Selection alla stazione Leopolda, abituale accompagnatrice di Pitti Filati.

Dopo la pausa estiva il calendario fieristico riprenderà con Milano Unica, che si presenta con lo slogan ambizioso e certo non di facile attuazione “La Bellezza salverà il mondo” che ha accompagnato la presentazione delle tendenze coordinate da Angelo Uslenghi e che trova radici ne “L’Idiota” di Dostoevskij. “Questa stessa frase - dice appunto Uslenghi - ancor oggi citata infinite volte, ripetuta nei più diversi contesti, nel testo originale ha una rilevanza ambigua tra il bello e il buono”. “Nel nostro contesto – gli fa eco il presidente di Milano Unica Silvio Albini possiamo attribuirle un significato dove la Bellezza è un concetto universale che ha il potere di armonizzare il disordine della realtà, di soddisfare il bisogno dell’uomo di un piacere estetico e morale superiore all’ordinarietà. I nostri contatti con le varie culture rafforzano questa impostazione,

contest”, adds Silvio Albini, president of Milano Unica, “we can think of Beauty as an universal idea that can put an end to the chaos of reality, answering the need of mankind of an aesthetic and ethic pleasure that can transcend the ordinary experience of life. Our contact to different cultures is in line with this thought, since China, the so-called emerging countries, and mature markets deeply feel the need for this added value of our products that this way symbolize research, innovation and attention to the cutumer ”. And the new prospective offered

by Milano Unica has given, in fact, further impulse to this fair, involving the exhibitors (also some famous names that had already participated into it in the past) more than ever before, if it’s true that three months before its opening they have already confirmed their presence.

Then, from the Portello area of Milan to the outskirts of Paris, where the Parc des Expositions will be the location for the Première Vision trade show, while the Le Bourget exhibition centre will host Texworld with its exotic and Axian fabrics and accessories.

Premier Vision is another trade show that has a great success among foreign countries, because of the fabrics offered and also regarding the offer of denim, accessories and prints. Playing a well-defined and crucial role in fashion, this 40-year-old event (its first edition was in 1973) still keeps on attracting new exhibitors, and since the end date has changed (one day less) even the number of visitors has increased –helping the exhibitors too in optimizing the costs. Once more Italy will prove its strength, the “Made-in-Italy” quality of its products attracting both buyers and everybody working in this sector: hopefully, by the first half of September the estimates regarding The European and global economy will be clearer and also more positive. Otherwise –and once again- we will look for other foreign markets to bet on.

An example could be the Turkish market, which will offers in October a trade opportunity of ever greater value in the continental scene:

Ed in effetti i rinnovati orizzonti di Milano Unica hanno ridato ulteriore slancio alla fiera meneghina, coinvolgendo più che mai gli stessi espositori che, a tre mesi dall’inizio della manifestazione, hanno già confermato adesioni, anche con qualche ritorno eccellente.

La scia di stand e campionari si sposterà dal Portello alla periferia parigina del Parc des Expositions per Première Vision, lambendo anche Le Bourget, dove andrà in scena Texworld, con il suo carico esotico ed orientale di stoffe e accessori.

Première Vision, altra fiera che sta trovando anche all’estero una buona risposta non solo nell’offerta di tessuti ma anche di denim, accessori e stampe, ha un ruolo ormai ben definito e da splendida 40enne (la prima edizione è infatti data 1973) continua a piacere e ad attrarre nuovi espositori e da quando la durata dell’esposizione è stata accorciata di un giorno anche le presenze dei visitatori sono aumentate, con l’ottimizzazione dei costi anche da parte di chi espone.

Gli italiani faranno ancora una volta la parte del leone e l’offerta del made in Italy richiamerà l’attenzione dei buyers e degli addetti ai lavoratori: la speranza è che per metà settembre le indicazioni dell’economia europea e mondiale siano più chiare e, soprattutto, più positive. Il piano B prevede comunque ancora uno sguardo all’estero e la ricerca di nuovi mercati.

Uno di questi potrebbe essere quello turco, dove ad ottobre si svolge una fiera che si sta ritagliando un proprio spazio nel panorama continentale,

Every year trade fairs keep on showing good numbers –and a very positive trend in the last eighteen months.

Di anno in anno i numeri delle fiere si mantengono buoni, con un trend positivo negli ultimi diciotto mesi.

Texbridge

Texbridge. It will be the fifth edition of this textile and accessories fair: organized by the Cnr Expo Center and located just across the international airport, this trade event has been attracting in these year more than 250 exhibitors from Turkey and even France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Great Britain, the Netherlands, India and Pakistan. The offer is similar to that of the Première Vision Pluriel fair: knit fabrics, woven fabrics, denim, artificial leather, accessories, semi-manufactured clothing and design concepts: considering the period when Texbridge takes place, the fair is not in competition with other trade events, though the possibilities offered by the Turkish market make it a not-to-miss event in the sector.

Texbridge. Questo salone del tessile e degli accessori è arrivato alla sua quinta edizione: organizzato al Cnr Expo Center, a due pasi dall’aeroporto, ha già raccolto negli anni oltre 250 espositori in arrivo oltre che da tutta la Turchia anche da Francia, Italia, Grecia, Portogallo, Regno Unito, Olanda, India e Pakistan.

L’offerta è simile a quella di Première Vision Pluriel, ovvero tessuti a maglia, tessuti in tessitura, denim, pelle artificiale, filati, accessori e semilavorati e studi di disegno: ovviamente non c’è concorrenza con le altre fiere europee fosse solo per le date ma le possibilità offerte dal mercato turco candidano Texbridge ad un ruolo di rilievo nel calendario.

A Filo Un Filo lungo venti anni during twenty years

Filo, the international trade fair of yarns and fibers, is in its 40th edition. A great goal for the only business to business fair devoted to the finest yarns and materials, which will be actually achieved on October 9 and 10 at Le Stelline Congress Center in Milan, where the fair has been held for many years.

The question is: “Will such a special birthday be celebrated as it deserves to be?” The answer is given by Paolo Monfermoso, in charge of Filo, to Showcase magazine. “Such a special birthday must be celebrated in a grand manner- says Monfermoso- but without impacting on what Filo has been since always best known for: quality, professional competence, effectiveness. We are working on some new developments and surprises as far as the setting and the trend area are concerned, while we have strengthened the communication with foreign buyers”.

“Celebrating Filo’s twentieth birthday – goes on Monfermoso- has a double purpose. On one side, we wish to go over the path that led us here where we stand today, a premium international trade show, and thank our exhibitors for that, because Filo’s successful results depend on the companies’ work and ongoing research in the textile production field. On the other, we celebrate Filo’s first twenty years as the starting point, not as the finish line, for our business. With the future in mind, we have also chosen the theme of the 40th fair, youth. Youth is, in our opinion, the “incubator” of all growth opportunities, for both the textile companies and our country; it is the capability of seizing all opportunities, introducing innovations and keeping up-to-date, besides being able to face all challenges, even the most difficult ones, like those the textile industry is faced with today”.

Actually, Leo Longanesi used to say that “the only big fashion trend is youth”, as also mentioned by Gianni Bologna, Filo’s creativity and product development manager, at the presentation of the latest developments introduced at the 40th Filo fair. “We thought it only but fair- said Bologna- to dedicate Filo’s twentieth birthday to all twenty-year-olds, hoping for a future time different from the one we have been living in for some decades now”. So here come Filo’s new offerings, based on “ the mixing and overlapping of textile elements that do not appear to be “harmonious” from the traditional point of view, but have been an integral part of our everyday lives for some time now- explained Bologna-. This phenomenon’s origin is unequivocal: we all, and in particular, young people, live in a world of hypercommunication on which both the “virtual” and the “real” are built.” However, unlike what happened in the past, “ we are not asked to conform to the standards of the rest of the world, to give up our opinions, tastes and stances. On the contrary, we are asked to express our opinion, even by simply saying “I like it”.

Filo, salone internazionale dei filati e delle fibre, è giunto alla sua 40esima edizione. Un traguardo importante per l’unica fiera business to business dedicata ai filati e materiali d'eccellenza, che verrà realmente tagliato il 9 e 10 ottobre al Centro Congressi Le Stelline di Milano, da molti anni consolidata sede di questo salone.

C’è da chiedersi se una ricorrenza così speciale sarà sottolineata in qualche modo. A rispondere sulle pagine di Showcase Paolo Monfermoso, responsabile di Filo. “Un compleanno così speciale va festeggiato in modo adeguato – commenta monfermoso - ma senza rinunciare alle caratteristiche che da sempre ispirano l'organizzazione di Filo: qualità, professionalità, efficacia. Stiamo perciò lavorando ad alcune novità e sorprese nell'allestimento e nell'area tendenze, mentre, sul versante comunicazione, abbiamo potenziato le iniziative dirette ai buyer stranieri”.

Quale sarà allora il vero significato del ricordare questo importante traguardo?

“Nei nostri intenti – continua Monfermoso – celebrare i venti anni di vita di Filo ha un doppio risvolto. Da una parte, vogliamo ripercorrere idealmente il cammino che ha portato la rassegna a diventare un appuntamento imprescindibile nel panorama fieristico internazionale, rendendo perciò un particolare omaggio agli espositori, perché il successo di Filo è possibile solo grazie al lavoro delle aziende, alla loro continua ricerca dell'eccellenza nella produzione tessile. Dall'altra parte, vogliamo considerare i 'primi' venti anni di Filo non come un punto di arrivo, ma come un punto di partenza. Con questo sguardo rivolto al futuro, abbiamo anche scelto il tema della 40esima edizione, Giovinezza. Una 'giovinezza' che, secondo noi, è 'l'incubatore' di tutte le chance di crescita, delle aziende come del Paese; che è saper cogliere le opportunità e avere la capacità di innovare e rinnovarsi, unita alla volontà di accettare le sfide, anche le più difficili, come sono quelle che si presentano oggi alle imprese tessili”.

In effetti Leo Longanesi diceva che “c’è una sola grande moda: la giovinezza”. E l’ha ricordato Gianni Bologna, responsabile creatività e sviluppo prodotto di Filo, nel presentare in anteprima le proposte prodotto della 40esima edizione. “Ci è sembrato corretto – ha commentato Bologna - dedicare i vent'anni di Filo a chi ha vent'anni. Anche in un convinto tentativo di ritorno alla speranza di vivere un tempo 'altro' rispetto a quello che stiamo vivendo da qualche decennio”. Ecco allora proposte che evidenziano “un rimescolamento e una giustapposizione di aspetti tessili non sempre 'armonici' dal punto di vista tradizionale, ma che da tempo fanno parte della nostra estetica quotidiana – ha spiegato Bologna - L’origine del fenomeno è inequivocabile: tutti noi, ma in particolare i giovani, viviamo immersi nella iper-comunicazione, che è diventata la grande formattatrice del virtuale e del reale”. Ma a differenza di quanto accadeva in passato, “non ci viene chiesto di uniformarci, di rinunciare a opinioni, gusti e orientamenti personali. Ci invita, al contrario, a formulare la nostra opinione, anche se solo con un 'mi piace'”.

Cruciani C Cruciani C: due anni di corsa two years running

Two years ago, Forte dei Marmi witnessed the boom of Cruciani’s macramé lace bracelets. ‘The good contagion’, is the way it is called by Luca Caprai –who has created the Cruciani brand- of the Gruppo Tessile Caprai, which has been producing trousseau and household linen since 1955. But Cruciani stands for more than macramé lace bracelets, in fact: this brand was created in 1992 by Luca Caprai, who wanted women’s and men’s knitwear to reflect the values his family company has been representing for decades: quality, Made-in-Italy and excellence of products. Just a colorful idea at the beginning, these lace bracelets have then become must-have items, increasing the company’s sales volume. Cruciani C has seen a 50% increase in the turnover in 2012, with 29 million euro operating figures. The four-leaved clover bracelet was the first to be created, then came the other patterns: the pirates and the hearts, the butterflies and the stars, all standing for a hidden meaning that keeps on conquering people of all ages, including famous people like Paris Hilton, Italian actors Laura Chiatti and Riccardo Scamarcio, Rod Stewart and Bar Rafaeli.

E’ scoppiata a giugno di due anni fa a Forte dei Marmi la passione per i braccialetti di pizzo macramè di Cruciani, il virus buono, come lo definisce Luca Caprai, ideatore del marchio Cruciani, erede del Gruppo Tessile Caprai che dal 1955 realizza corredi e biancheria. Il marchio Cruciani in realtà è ben di più dei braccialetti in macramè: nel 1992 è stato fondato da Luca Caprai con la volontà di trasferire anche sulla maglieria per l’abbigliamento uomo e donna quei valori che da decenni sono portati avanti dal Gruppo tessile di famiglia: qualità, made in Italy, eccellenza. Ma, inutile dirlo, il braccialetto, un gioco, è diventato un must have, oltre che una non indifferente fonte di fatturato per l’azienda. Cruciani C ha chiuso il 2012 con un fatturato in aumento del 50% pari a 29 milioni di euro.

Il primo simbolo è stato il quadrifoglio, poi tante immagini: dai pirati ai cuori, dalle farfalle alle stelle, tutti con un significato nascosto che ha conquistato le più diverse fasce d’età, affermandosi anche tra le celebrities, da Paris Hilton a Laura Chiatti, da Riccardo Scamarcio a Rod Stewart, fino a Bar Rafaeli.

We can see a spread of this fashion trend: from bracelets weaved with golden threads to other items like bags, printed silk foulards and pashminas.

In occasion of this Pitti Uomo, Showcase has exchanged some words with Luca Caprai.

Everything starts in Umbria, where Cruciani’s bracelets and knitwear items are designed and produced.

What’s their destination?

We can’t say it now: I can only tell about the projects we actually have. After having opened in 2012 in important cities like Milan, Capri, Taormina, Forte dei Marmi, Tokyo, Madrid, Dubai and Palm Beach, we are going to open other 400 stores, both in Italy and abroad. From Barcelona to Munich in Germany. In fact, our brand is present today in 25 markets with a very strong distribution network.

What market gives you more satisfactions?

I am happy to notice that Cruciani C’s corners that are selling more are in Greece, maybe because this style and fashion brand has affordable prices also for countries whose economy is in trouble. The American market is getting better and better, while the country where we are currently doing more business is Mexico. The only market the spread of this contagion hasn’t reached yet is China: let’s wait and see.

How do you handle distribution?

We have direct control of distribution over 30 stores and we are present in 1,500 multi-brand stores. In the next three years Inutile dire che il fenomeno si sta allargando: prima i braccialetti impreziositi da fili d’oro, ora altri oggetti, come la collezione di borse, i foulards in seta stampati, le pashmine.

In occasione di Pitti Uomo, Showcase ha avuto l’opportunità di parlare con Luca Caprai.

L’origine di tutto questo è l’Umbria, dove i braccialetti e la maglieria Cruciani vengono ideati e realizzati. La destinazione?

Impossibile dirlo, al momento: posso dire qual è la strada che stiamo percorrendo. Dopo le aperture del 2012 in località importanti come Milano, Capri, Taormina, Forte dei Marmi, Tokyo, Madrid, Dubai, Palm Beach, nei prossimi tre anni sono previste altre 400 aperture in Italia e all’estero. Da Barcellona a Parigi a Monaco di Baviera. Del resto oggi il marchio è presente in 25 mercati con una rete di distribuzione molto solida.

Qualche mercato che dà più soddisfazione degli altri?

Mi fa piacere sottolineare che al momento i corner che stanno vendendo meglio sono in Grecia, forse perché Cruciani C è un progetto di stile e di moda dal prezzo accessibile, anche in paesi che non stanno vivendo un buon momento economico. Il mercato americano sta decollando, il Messico è al momento il paese più in crescita in termini di vendite. L’unico mercato che ancora in effetti non è stato contagiato dal virus è la Cina: vedremo.

Come gestite la distribuzione?

400 mono-brand stores are going to be opened, but we will not directly control them all. We will have some local partners. We are currently closing a contract for the opening of 30 stores in the United Arab Emirates, our first market in the Middle East.

What is the strong point of Cruciani?

Undoubtedly the fact that, even though its success has come rapidly, our brand is not a ‘Summer torment’ that has become famous by chance: we have been working hard, looking for professional advice in order to anchor our success to something stable. And another reason can be the fact that our brand, created in the Umbria region of Italy, has always produced in Italy, looking to global markets as well. Every morning I read the newspapers to see what our competition is doing and to find some good ideas we can develop. As in the case of Swatch and its Art Peace Hotel in Shangai, where artists are invited by Swatch to live and work in artist studios. My more modest idea, about which I have already talked to my family, is to give life to something similar in Montefalco, where our family’s wine cellars are: 14 rooms where artists can stay at our expenses as guests. For our part, we only ask them to give some ideas for Cruciani C. The artists participating in this project will be every time selected by a commission of independent experts, for now we already have the availability of Italian art critic Sgarbi.

The Fondazione Arte Cruciani has just been established. Will its activity be somewhat related to the territory?

We have contacted the administration of Trevi right in these days to ask about a place where these artists’ works –not necessarily related to Cruciani- could be exhibited. Furthermore, we would like to give these artists also a business opportunity, organizing a market exhibit dedicated to their works once a month. If we want to grow our brand we don’t need eye-catching famous testimonials, but a project to develop. This project is not aimed only at sponsoring Cruciani C, but also at granting for a new inspired future for it.

Will we find some special discount for Cruciani’s old-fashioned items?

Absolutely not, even though we are among the few brands in the world to do so: customers must understand the value both of our products and of the project behind them. Discounts and special prices create confusion. In addition to this, the fashion industry can’t deal anymore neither with the fact that companies set their prices high enough to allow discounts, nor with the many different prices offered. Cruciani’s products have only one price, as to say: ‘our prices are equal to the product’s value’, I think this is the right way to deal with customers.

How do you face counterfeiting?

I start by saying that all Cruciani’s products are designed and manufactured in Italy, but the fact that they are entirely made in Italy is not enough, they have to be ‘well’ made in Italy; then I say that Cruciani can certify the origin of all the yarns that enter our company, meaning we can exactly tell where they come from; said this all, I don’t want to fight against counterfeiting anymore. I have just lost a lot of time and money failing to see my reasons recognized by a judge who has defined a fake product as somewhat ‘original’..so now I don’t care anymore about counterfeiting. I just say that we have published a study on some ‘fake’ bracelets, showing that they are made with toxic paints that cause malignant melanoma.

Abbiamo 30 negozi a controllo diretto e siamo presenti in 1500 negozi multimarca. I 400 negozi che verranno aperti nei prossimi tre anni saranno tutti monomarca, ma non tutti a controllo diretto, avremo dei partner locali. Particolarmente interessante è il contratto che abbiamo proprio in questi giorni in chiusura per l’avvio di 30 negozi negli Emirati arabi, che sono il nostro primo mercato nel Medio Oriente.

Qual è il punto di forza di Cruciani?

Sicuramente il fatto che, pur avendo avuto una crescita rapidissima, non possiamo definirci una ‘canzone estiva’, un successo casuale: abbiamo lavorato seriamente e chiesto consulenze per ancorare il nostro successo a qualcosa di stabile. Poi, probabilmente, è vincente il fatto di essere un marchio che è nato e che produce in Italia, anzi in Umbria, ma da sempre guarda al mondo. Ogni mattina leggo tutti i giornali che posso per capire chi fa meglio e per trovare qualche buona idea da sviluppare. Come nel caso Swatch e del suo Art Peace Hotel: una residenza a Shanghai in cui vengono accolti artisti che possono creare mentre sono ospiti di Swatch. Più modestamente ho proposto alla famiglia di creare qualcosa di analogo a Montefalco, dove abbiamo le cantine: 14 camere a disposizione di artisti che saranno nostri ospiti e che in cambio dovranno solo darci un’idea per Cruciani C. Gli artisti che parteciperanno a questo progetto saranno via via scelti da una commissione di esperti indipendenti, per ora abbiamo avuto la disponibilità di Sgarbi.

Nasce dunque la Fondazione Cruciani Arte. Avrà un legame col territorio?

Abbiamo in questi giorni contatti con l’amministrazione comunale di Trevi, la nostra città, per chiedere uno spazio dove le opere di questi artisti, non necessariamente legate a Cruciani, possano essere esposte. In più vorremmo offrire a questi artisti anche un’opportunità di business, organizzando una volta al mese una mostra mercato loro riservata. Credo che se vogliamo crescere non sia sufficiente un testimonial per quanto celebre, è necessario sposare un progetto. Questo progetto non nasce solo per mecenatismo, ma anche per dare un futuro sempre più originale a Cruciani C. Possiamo aspettare dei ‘saldi’ Cruciani, magari sui modelli più datati?

Assolutamente no, anche se siamo uno dei pochi marchi al mondo che non adotta questa strategia: il consumatore deve capire il valore del prodotto e del progetto che ci sta dietro. I saldi, lo sconto creano confusione. In secondo luogo la moda non può più permettersi ricarichi clamorosi che consentono sconti e tanti prezzi diversi. Cruciani ha un prezzo fisso e il messaggio che passa è: ‘ti sto dando un prodotto al suo valore reale’, questo credo che sia il giusto accordo col cliente.

Come sta giocando la partita con la contraffazione?

Premetto che Cruciani C è fatto in Italia, anzi in Umbria, dal disegno alla produzione; premetto anche che fatto in Italia non basta: è necessario che sia fatto ‘bene’ in Italia; premetto infine che Cruciani certifica tutti i filati in entrata in azienda, ossia che siamo in grado di dire da dove viene ciascun filato utilizzato; detto tutto questo, non ho più intenzione di combattere contro la contraffazione.

Ho appena perso molto denaro e molto tempo per poi non vedere riconosciute le mie ragioni perché un giudice ha intravisto nel prodotto d’imitazione qualcosa che lo rende ‘originale’…quindi mi fermo, chi vuol copiare lo faccia. Dico solo che abbiamo distribuito uno studio che dice che alcuni dei braccialettini ‘concorrenti’ sono realizzati utilizzando tinture nocive per la salute di chi li indossa, in particolare che causano il melanoma.

A car, a jacket, wool as the underlying theme. A fair, two successful ideas, one solution. With these “ingredients” in mind, we cross the gates of Florence’s Fortezza da Basso to visit Pitti Uomo and we find, in the Octagonal Room, the Parcour designed by Italdesign Giugiaro in the space devoted to The Car Jacket by Natural Born Elegance: jackets that draw inspiration from a supercar and a supercar with interiors as precious as the finest item of clothing.

Eight clothing items inspired by the best car prototype shown at the latest Geneva show, whose lines have been the source of inspiration for an exclusive collection by Julian Cerruti based on the use of Australian wool by Lanificio F.lli Cerruti.

And Lanificio F.lli Cerruti dal 1881 celebrated the partnership with Italdesign Giugiaro in its Pitti Uomo space: two among the greatest expressions of the “Made in Italy” which, on one side, enhance their qualities and, on the other, provide an insight into the diversification possibilities of the various products and destination of raw materials.

A car prototype certainly is an unusual sight at Pitti, and so, the Parcour, awarded as “Best Concept” at the Geneva show by American magazine Au-toWeek, is a rather unusual introduction to the jackets, made of the same material as the car’s interiors, that is, merino wool by Lanificio Cerruti, the so-called Turbo 180.

The same fabric has been used, in fact, on the Car Jacket, the jacket of the Natural Born Elegance line by Julian Cerruti, a limited series of 550 jackets, as many as the Lamborghini engine’s horsepower featured by the Parcour.

Of course, this comfortable jacket is ideal for driving the car and enjoying the ride. The Car Jacket is made with four different fabrics: in addition to the Turbo 180, there are the Via Col Vento, Prestige 150 and IParty versions: all fine menswear woolens whose special processing methods make the jacket acquire highly technical characteristics.

Un’auto, una giacca, la lana come filo conduttore. Una fiera, due idee vincenti, un’unica soluzione. Con questi ingredienti è quasi normale varcare i cancelli della Fortezza da Basso di Firenze per Pitti Uomo e trovare nella Sala Ottagonale una Parcour firmata Italdesign Giugiaro nello spazio dedicato a The Car Jacket di Natural Born Elegance: giacche che si ispirano ad una supercar e una supercar con gli interni pregiati come il miglior capo d’abbigliamento.

Otto capi ispirati al miglior prototipo di autovettura dell’ultimo Salone di Ginevra le cui linee sono state rivisitate da Julian Cerruti per una collezione esclusiva avente come filo conduttore i tessuti di lana australiana del Lanificio F.lli Cerruti.

Ed è proprio il Lanificio F.lli Cerruti dal 1881 che ha celebrato nel suo spazio la collaborazione con Italdesign Giugiaro: due massime espressioni del made in Italy che da un lato esaltano le proprie qualità e dall’altro lasciano intuire quali siano gli spiragli di diversificazione dei vari prodotti e delle destinazioni delle materie prime.

Trovare un prototipo d’auto a Pitti è certamente inusuale e quindi la Parcour, premiata come “Best Concept” al Salone di Ginevra dalla rivista americana Au-toWeek ha fatto da insolito traino alle giacche, collegate agli interni dell’auto dallo stesso materiale, un tessuto in lana merino del Lanificio Cerruti, il Turbo 180.

Lo stesso tessuto è infatti utilizzato per la “Car Jacket”, la giacca della linea Natural Born Elegance di Julian Cerruti che fa parte di una serie limitata di 550 esemplari, tanti quanti sono i cavalli erogati dal motore Lamborghini V10 montato sulla Parcour.

Ovviamente la comodità della giacca porta anche una praticità ideale per godersi la guida dell’auto.

La “Car Jacket” è realizzata in quattro tessuti differenti: oltre al Turbo 180, ci sono anche le versioni Via Col Vento, Prestige 150 e IParty: tutte lane fini tipiche dell’abbigliamento maschile lavorate in modo tale da creare un capo dalle elevate qualità tecniche.

Car jackets seen from Parcour And since, when it comes to the pleasure of driving, there is no difference between men and women, the Natural Born Elegance collection includes the women’s version of the Car Jacket.

The marriage is “blessed” by The Woolmark Company, the project’s main partner and an “expert” in the field.

Julian Cerruti is very satisfied with the results and is a huge fan of the Parcour: “I love the idea behind a car like this- he said- it is a race car, but it is suitable for any road and route type. It is the hybrid concept, which applies perfectly to this clothing line and, in particular, to wool, an extraordinary material that, on these jackets, becomes “technical” due to the special finishing treatments it has undergone”. The collection will be distributed starting from January, but watch out: there are only 550 pieces available!

E siccome il piacere della guida non ha differenze di sesso nella collezione Natural Born Elegance c’è anche una versione femminile della Car Jacket.

A fare da garante all’unione c’è anche The Woolmark Company, main partner del progetto e “esperto” in materia.

Molto soddisfatto di questa esperienza Julian Cerruti, che è rimasto affascinato dalla Parcour.

“E’ fantastica l’idea di creare un’auto di questo genere – ha commentato – è una race car, ma al tempo stesso è in grado di accedere ad ogni tipo di percorso. Un concetto ‘ibrido’ che esiste anche nei capi di abbigliamento di questa linea, ma che soprattutto esiste nella lana, un materiale eccezionale che in questi bluson diventa ‘tecnico’ per i trattamenti e i finissaggi ricevuti”. La collezione sarà distribuita da gennaio, ma occhio: sono solo 550 capi!

The first woman President of Acimit –the Association of Italian Machinery Manufacturers for the Textile Industry. Raffaella Carabelli, Commercial Manager of her family company, Fadis S.p.A, has replaced outgoing president Sandro Salmoiraghi after having served as the association’s vice president since 2009. This shows how continuity and coherence characterize the association, though President Carabelli has a clear mind regarding the four years of presidential administration, which is going to be not only a honor for her, but, given our current situation, a duty, as well.

“An honor and a duty, without any doubt, but I am happy about this new role I have. I am used to live in this sector, in fact, I know it seems like it is not for women sometimes. Speaking about the fact that I am the first woman president, I remember with affection my first days at the association, twenty-five years ago, when the number of women was so low that people expected a Mr. Raffaella, becoming then really shocked when they saw a woman. But now things have changed, there are more women in this sector, and I will also be supported by a woman Vice President.

Having held the favorite position of ‘Businesswoman’ for 25 years and that of Vice President of the association for four years, what could you tell us about the current situation of the sector?

Thanks to export level, essential in this sector too, we are managing to go on. To tell the truth, there are some export problems as well, but our member companies are so professional and competent, and so committed in research and innovation, as well as in entering new markets that I am really optimistic about that. I am only disappointed by the Italian market, on which our companies can’t rely that much, since it represents today less than 20% of their turnover.

So we are lucky that we can count on foreign markets. What are the most important for this sector?

There’s no doubt that we can say we are always ready to pack. We live on bread, export and flights. That’s true, we are lucky we have foreign countries, but, in truth, having partners that are so distant from us make things more complicated because we need to be in close contact with the end-users of machinery for a constructive confrontation and to lay the basis of any improvement or adjustment. Distance makes everything so complicated, in fact.But this is our situation. The most powerful giants on the global scenario are Asia, of course, and South America. But I am used to classify markets as belonging to the first or to the second line. The first line is made up by those countries that can’t even be defined as emerging countries anymore: China, Turkey, India. We can’t help being already present in these markets, they are essential customers for us. The second line, instead, is made of those countries that are new in the textile sector or have always belonged to it without playing a crucial role, though, which are actually growing ever more: Indonesia, Pakistan and South America. It’s these countries we have to focus on. Being present in these markets can really make the difference.

And is that possible for Italian companies?

Surely, thanks to this Association, above all. Fast all the 300 Italian textile machinery manufacturers are medium/small companies, and they can’t do this without any help, and it’s here that the Association and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE)(which fortunately still exists) come into play. The funds invested in the ICE positively affect the whole Italian country, because when companies find a support while trying to enter new markets, they can create an increase in the turnover rate, as well as new workplaces. Clearly, every company has its own strategy, for example the U.S are actually giving a new lease of life to the manufacturing sector, though they make use of high technology: they ask for modern, very efficient Una donna alla presidenza di Acimit, è la prima volta nella storia dell’Associazione dei Costruttori Italiani di Macchinario per l’Industria Tessile. Raffaella Carabelli, direttore commerciale nell’azienda di famiglia Fadis S.p.A., ha ricevuto il testimone dalle mani di Sandro Salmoiraghi, di cui è stata vicepresidente negli ultimi quattro anni.

Un segnale di continuità e di compattezza nell’associazione, senza dubbio, ma il presidente Carabelli ha anche idee molto chiare su come caratterizzare il suo quadriennio di presidenza, che sarà certo un onore, ma visti i tempi anche un onere. “Onore e onere, indubbiamente, ma sono contenta e carica per questo mio nuovo impegno. Del resto sono abituata a vivere in questo settore, talvolta un po’ rude. Anzi proprio in riferimento al fatto che sono la prima donna presidente, ricordo con simpatia i miei inizi, venticinque anni fa, quando la presenza femminile nel settore era talmente bassa che tutti si aspettavano Mr Raffaella e sgranavano tanto d’occhi quando scoprivano che sono una donna!

Ma ora le cose sono cambiate, la presenza femminile nel settore meccanico è più importante, senza contare che sarò affiancata da una vicepresidente, Adele Lonati.

Dal suo osservatorio privilegiato di imprenditrice in pista da 25 anni e di vicepresidente dell’associazione da quattro anni, cosa può dirci dello stato di salute del settore?

Si sopravvive grazie all’export che sempre più, anche nel nostro settore, è essenziale. Anzi a dire il vero neanche l’export è tutto rose e fiori, ma la professionalità e la competenza delle nostre aziende, il loro impegno nella ricerca, nell’innovazione, nella penetrazione di nuovi mercati sono tali che nutro grande fiducia. Resto amareggiata per l’Italia che purtroppo per le nostre aziende resta uno sbocco minimo, meno del 20% delle vendite.

Meno male che ci sono i mercati stranieri, allora. Quali sono i più importanti per il settore?

Indubbiamente possiamo dire che viviamo con la valigia in mano: pane e export e tanti aerei. E’ vero, meno male che ci sono i paesi stranieri, ma non nego che il fatto di avere interlocutori così lontani rende le cose un po’ più difficili, perché per noi è essenziale lavorare a stretto contatto con gli utilizzatori delle macchine, per confronti, migliorie, adeguamenti. Il fatto che questo utilizzatore sia così lontano rende tutto più complicato. Ma tant’è. Per quanto riguarda i ‘pesi grossi’ nel panorama internazionale, ovviamente l’Asia, ma anche il sud America. In realtà, però, sono solita dividere i diversi mercati in prima e seconda linea. Nella prima linea ci sono i paesi che ormai non possono neanche più definirsi emergenti: la Cina, la Turchia, l’India. In questi non è possibile non essere già presenti e restano indubbiamente clienti fondamentali. Poi c’è la seconda linea, cioè quei paesi che si affacciano al tessile oppure che ci sono sempre stati, ma con peso non determinante: penso all’Indonesia, al Pakistan, al Sud America. E’ su questi che bisogna puntare. E’ la presenza in questi mercati che oggi fa la differenza.

E come possono esserci le aziende italiane?

machinery with low consumption. Those who have products of this kind can approach that market. I said, every company has a target audience, we can’t satisfy every customer, but many country still choose to buy from Italy.

What is the positive thing about the development of the emerging countries?

When we visit these countries we notice how the middle class has developed, this resulting in a higher standard of living and in an increased number of possible customers for our machinery. This is positive for us, too. Not to mention the increase in the demand of higher quality textile machinery.

What is the project approved during the last presidency that you support most?

Undoubtedly that of environmental sustainability. We really believe in it, though it was not very well understood at the beginning: many people thought it was just another marketing operation. But this has never been the case, and now that we have come to the second phase, and we can see the green plaques on the machinery, everybody starts to believe in it. Even those countries that haven’t been much involved in this question until now. I will not speak now about the many blue and green rivers I have seen around the world. Changes require time: results will be seen in the long term.

Do you trust this mission the Association strives to achieve?

Absolutely. We have 160 member companies, a greater number compared to other countries with similar situations. The three Vice Presidents who are going to support me have a year-long experience in this field, and this makes me really confident.

Beside this element of continuity, your four-year term will surely be characterized by something new. Do you have any idea about that?

Salmoiraghi did a lot in order to let Italian companies establish business relations with powerful foreign countries, but I will focus more on the second line, on those countries that are really ‘emerging’ today. I would like to have contacts with Universities and Research Units in order to promote the competence that is proper of our sector, starting from the basis. And this presidency will also have a great opportunity to make use of: the ITMA 2015 in Italy. Soprattutto grazie all’Associazione, indubbiamente. Le circa 300 aziende meccanotessili italiane sono quasi tutte medio-piccole, da sole non possono compiere certi passi, per questo c’è l’associazione e per questo c’è l’Ice che per fortuna non è stata abolita. I fondi investiti nell’Ice sono fondi che si ripercuotono positivamente sul Paese perché se le aziende sono supportate nella penetrazione di nuovi mercati creano fatturato e nuovi posti di lavoro. E’ chiaro che ogni azienda ha poi la sua strategia, ad esempio, c’è un ritorno degli Usa che stanno ridando slancio al manifatturiero, seppure ad alta intensità di tecnologia: richiedono impianti moderni e molto efficienti, con bassi consumi. Chi ha prodotti di questo tipo può farsi avanti. Ripeto, ogni azienda ha un suo target e non possiamo accontentare tutti, ma in più paesi compare la bandiera tricolore e meglio è per tutti.

Cosa vede di positivo nell’evoluzione dei Paesi emergenti e non più tali?

Visitando questi paesi si percepisce la crescita della classe media, quindi un aumento del tenore di vita e dei potenziali consumatori dei prodotti che le nostre macchine partecipano a produrre. Questo è positivo anche per noi. Inoltre si alza il livello tecnologico dei macchinari tessili richiesti.

Quale dei progetti della passata presidenza fa suo con più entusiasmo?

Sicuramente quello per l’ecosostenibilità. Un progetto nel quale crediamo molto e che all’inizio forse non è stato ben compreso: molti ritenevano che si trattasse dell’ennesima operazione di marketing. Non è mai stato così e adesso che siamo alla seconda fase, adesso che le targhe verdi vengono viste sui macchinari, tutti cominciano a crederci. Anche quei paesi che finora erano poco sensibili a questa problematica. Non sto a raccontare quanti fiumi verdi o azzurri ho visto in certe zone del mondo. Ci vuole tempo per le cose nuove, ma alla lunga i risultati si vedono.

Ha fiducia in questa missione dell’associazione?

Assolutamente sì. Le aziende associate sono 160, tante in confronto con realtà analoghe di altri Paesi. I tre vicepresidenti che mi accompagneranno, poi, oltre a Adele Lonati, anche Andrea Piattelli e Flavio Tonello, sono operativi, da anni sul campo e questo mi dà grande fiducia.

Continuità con la vecchia presidenza, senza dubbio, ma ci sarà pure un segno distintivo del suo quadriennio. Ha idea di quale sarà?

Sicuramente rispetto alla presidenza Salmoiraghi che molto ha fatto per introdurre le aziende italiane nei grandi Paesi stranieri, io punterò di più sulla seconda linea, su quei Paesi che oggi sono davvero ‘emergenti’. Vorrei avere contatti con le Università, con i centri di ricerca per promuovere le capacità della nostra industria partendo dalla base. E poi non dimentichiamo che questa presidenza avrà una grande chance da sfruttare: Itma 2015 in Italia. In questi due anni dobbiamo parlare e far parlare di meccanotessile fino alla nausea, dobbiamo lustrare i nostri ori ed essere ottimi padroni di casa. interviews 31

From fairs to food: Consigli, tra un campionario e un menu here some suggestions

Once again, we want to conclude this issue of Showcase with some suggestions, useful without any doubt though maybe not exhaustive, with the hope they’ll help people travelling the world to visit trade fairs in finding some places where to relax and discover tastes and fun after the many hours spent at the stands . Florence, Milan and Paris don’t lack places where business women and men can eat, drink and have a break from work, and, we know, unusual spots often offer the best surprises.

Let’s star, followin the dates of the fairs for 2013, with Florence, and let us be guided by the “Best of ” of Firenze Made in Tuscany Magazine (www.firenzemadeintuscany.com) regarding two thingsd that are totally different from a business dinner or a night with music entertainment: street food, a very popular food revolution, and happy hours.

If you just wish to quickly eat something tasteful, you can go to All’Antico Vinaio (74, Via dei Neri) near to Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. Here you can taste excellent wines paired with schiacciata with pecorino cream sauce or artichokes sauce with sbriciolona (fennel-flavoured salami) from Montespertoli, and crostini with various toppings. In front of this historical eatery the recently opened Osteria L’Antico Vinaio. Same style and owners, the only difference is that you can sit down here to eat in total relax.

Another not-to-miss wine-shop is the Fiaschetteria Nuvoli (15, Piazza dell’olio): its wine cellar exists since 211 years, but the Nuvoli family owns it since 27 years. Don’t miss the ribollita (vegetable soup with bread), the crostini with fegatini (liver sauce) and tripe. Or its wines: the great Tuscan Wines –especially those from the Maremma region.

Then I Fratellini (38/r, via dei Cimatori, behind the corner of via Calzaioli), where you can meet Armando and Michele and order them a hot and crispy sandwich with ham or finocchiona and Caprino cheese and a good glass of wine. You can have your meal standing at the counter, outside in the street or sitting on steps by sidewalks as the Florentines do. Average price: 4 euros. Created in 1875, it is undoubtedly a typical spot in Florence.

Ancora una volta vogliamo concludere il nostro Showcase con alcuni consigli, probabilmente non esaustivi ma sicuramente utili, per consentire a chi gira il mondo per partecipare alle fiere di trovare anche un angolo di relax, gusto e divertimento dopo le ore passate dentro gli stand.

Firenze, Milano e Parigi non hanno certo il difetto di non offrire a turisti e uomini e donne d’affari spazi per mangiare, bere e staccare dal lavoro e le sorprese, anche piacevoli, sono spesso dietro angoli insospettati.

Partiamo, seguendo le date delle fiere, da Firenze affidandoci al “Best of ” di Firenze Made in Tuscany Magazine (www.firenzemadeintuscany.com) per due settori che esulano dalla vera e propria cena di lavoro o dalla serata a ritmo di musica: lo street food, trend culinario del momento, e l’aperitivo.

Per mangiare “al volo” ma con gusto si può andare All’Antico Vinaio, in via dei Neri 74, a due passi da Palazzo Vecchio e dalla Galleria degli Uffizi.

In questo locale potrete assaggiare ottimi vini per accompagnare una schiacciata con crema di pecorino o crema di carciofi con sbriciolona di Montespertoli oltre ai più svariati crostini. Di fronte allo storico locale ha aperto l’Osteria L’Antico Vinaio. Stesso stile e proprietari ma la possibilità di gustare un piatto comodamente seduti.

Altro indirizzo imperdibile è quello della Fiaschetteria Nuvoli, in piazza dell’Olio 15: la mescita del vino esiste da 211 anni, ma il locale appartiene alla famiglia Nuvoli da 27. Da assaggiare assolutamente la ribollita, i crostini con i fegatini e la trippa. Come vini: i grandi toscani con un occhio speciale ai vini maremmani.

Poi ecco I Fratellini, in via dei Cimatori 38/r, girando l’angolo di via Calzaioli per andare da Armando e Michele, e ordinare un panino caldo e croccante al prosciutto crudo o con la finocchiona e il caprino, e accompagnarlo con un buon bicchiere di vino. Mangiate in piedi, per strada o seduti sul gradino del marciapiede insieme ai fiorentini. Prezzo medio 4 euro. Garantisce l’assoluta tipicità del posto, la sua data di nascita: 1875!

If you prefer to begin the evening with a happy hour you must reach 55r, via di San Niccolò: the historical Rifrullo is right in the heart of San Niccolò bohemian area. Open until 1:00 a.m..

Milan has more frenetic rhythms than Florence. This metropolitan city invites you not only to have dinner in a good restaurant, but also to lessen the stress load of the day on the dance floor of a disco.

The Navigli district is a perfect area to reach if you love good food without renouncing to nightlife. Here is the Juleps, a restaurant/ bar that could be a dock bar in New York instead of a restaurant along the Naviglio Pavese (21, via Torricelli), since it doesn’t offer typical dishes of the gastronomic tradition of the Lombardia region. Juleps is a reference point in Milan’s nightlife, and there you can simply have a drink or try the food and wine special dishes of the United States: in the first case we suggest a Grapefruit Gimlet cocktail with Vodka, lime juice and Agave nectar, while in the second case the guacamole nachos (an avocado sauce with garlic, coriander seeds and chili), the grilled beef tenderloin with lobster sausage and rice or the surf & turf dish (beef tenderloin with lobster).

At the elegant h club>Diana inside the Sheraton Diana (42, viale Piave), you can sense the atmosphere of the cosmopolitan lounge of Sheraton: all day food and drinks. During the day and at night, the club is a place where to eat sandwiches, platters of cold cuts and cheeses and dishes like the Sliced Fillet of Irish Beef or the Parmesan Flan on a bed of arugula with aromatic vinegar. Here too you must try the happy hour: cold appetizers, bruschette, salads, Caprese tartares and mozzarella crunchy bites. And if you are looking for an evening with music entertainment you can go to Just Cavalli –a name related to Milano Unica- which is very popular on Tuesday and Thursday evening. Located in via Camoens inside the Sempione Park, it is also a restaurant where to have an excellent business dinner, to be followed by the first-class music of Just Cavalli Holliwood.

Elegance and tradition, as in the best representative idea of Paris, even after the Première Vision show, to be found outside the Villepinte area in the heart of the capital of France.

Let’s start with two names where you should keep an eye on the menu as on your credit card: La Tour d’Argent and Arpège.

With a well-stocked cellar, the first one(15, quai de la Tournelle) has earned one Michelin star and it is the oldest restaurant in Paris, since it was built in 1582. Among its customers, also Henri IV. The second one is Alain Passard’s three-starred restaurant in rue de Varenne, and it is listed as one of the most expensive restaurants in the world, according to American magazine Forbes. The highest price isn’t always a guarantee for money, though this time it is.

Let us not forget Lasserre (avenue Franklin-Roosvelt) which has earned two Michelin stars. Famous for its Duck a l’orange, it was loved by Audrey Hepburn, Maria Callas and Marlene Dietrich. It’s cellar offer a choice of 160,000 wines. And now a long list of restaurants that have been listed as historical monuments, where you can sense the class and the history of Paris: Brasserie Gallopin (40, rue Notre-Dame-des-Victoires); Le Train Bleu, the Belle-Epoque restaurant at the Gare de Lyon; Chartier -7, rue du Faubourg-Montmartre; Brasserie Lipp, the tartare temple -151, bd Saint-Germain; Le Polidor -41, rue Monsieur le Prince; Le Bouillon Racine 3, rue Racine; Fouquet's, 99 av. des Champs-Elysées; La Fermette Marbeuf, 5 rue Marbeuf; Brasserie Mollard, 115 rue Saint-Lazare; Le Chardenoux, 1 rue Jules-Vallès.

Chi invece vuol iniziare la serata con un aperitivo il nome giusto è Rifrullo, in via di San Niccolò, 55r: Nel cuore del quartiere bohemien di San Niccolo, uno storico locale fiorentino. Aperto fino alle 1 di notte..

A Milano ha ritmi più vertiginosi rispetto a Firenze. Il suo look metropolitano invita da un lato a godersi la calma di un buon ristorante ma dall’altro anche quello di scaricare l’adrenalina accumulata nella giornata sulla pista di una discoteca.

I Navigli sono da sempre un rifugio sicuro per chi ama i piaceri della tavola, magari accompagnati ad un po’ di movida. Non ha certo l’obiettivo di tramandare la tradizione culinaria lombarda il Juleps, bar ristorante che potrebbe benissimo trovarsi a ridosso di un dock di New York e che invece si trova lungo il Naviglio pavese, in via Torricelli 21. Juleps è una vera istituzione nella nightlife milanese ed offre sia la possibilità di limitarsi ad un drink che di provare le tradizioni eno-gastronomiche statunitensi: nel primo caso il consiglio è per un Grapefruit Gimlet, con vodka, succo di lime e sciroppo di agave; nel secondo spazio ai nachos con guacamole, una mousse d'avocado con aglio, coriandolo e peperoncino, al filetto di manzo alla griglia servito con salsa d'aragosta e riso bianco oppure al surf & turf (filetto di manzo e astice).

Stile salottiero all’h club>diana, elegante oasi all’interno dello Sheraton Diana di viale Piave 42, con drink e proposte all day food della cucina. Sia di giorno che di sera si possono gustare club sandwich, taglieri di salumi e formaggi e piatti come la tagliata di manzo irlandese e il flan al parmigiano su letto di rucola aromatizzata al balsamico. Anche qui l’aperitivo è un must da non perdere con antipasti freddi, bruschette, insalate e tartare di caprese e croccantini di mozzarella.

Per chi vuole un dopo cena a suon di musica c’è, per restare a nomi attinenti a Milano Unica, il Just Cavalli, particolarmente gettonato nelle serate di martedì e giovedì. Il locale, in via Camoens, in pieno parco Sempione, è anche un ristorante che garantisce il pieno successo di una cena di lavoro ma una volta spariti piatti e vassoi entra in scena la musica, che ha l’etichetta doc dell’Hollywood.

Lusso e tradizione come nella migliore immagine di Parigi per il dopo Première Vision, per chi non rimane confinato nell’area di Villepinte e si spinge fino nel cuore della capitale francese.

Cominciamo con due indirizzi nei quali tenere un occhio sul menu e l’altro sulla carta di credito: La Tour d'Argent e l'Arpège. Il primo ha una stella Michelin ed è il più antico ristorante di Parigi, essendo nato nel 1582 (15, quai de la Tournelle) e ha una cantina ricchissima. Tra i suoi clienti anche Enrico IV. Il secondo invece è il 3 stelle di Alain Passard in rue de Varenne ed è nella classifica dei ristoranti più cari al mondo, stilata dalla rivista americana Forbes.

Non sempre i soldi non assicurano la qualità ma stavolta sì.
