Using this Guide
This guide is filled with fun and challenging events designed to help girls earn badges, meet other Girl Scouts, and try new things while being immersed in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. These events are offered by our program team, community partners, area associations, service units, and other troops. The online Events Calendar is your source for the most up-to-date information about something to do as a troop, with a friend, or as a family, plus volunteer trainings.
Find the Event Guide on our website, GSKentuckiana.org/events, under the "Events" icon. Check it often for updates.
Registering for Events
Log in to MyGS at mygs.girlscouts.org/ my-account for the most up-to-date information on events and for registration. Pre-registration is required at least two weeks ahead of time. Register for events online with a credit card, or make payments by cash, check, or Kentuckiana Credits using the Event Registration Form. Late registration cannot be accepted.
When plans change, event registrations may be canceled for a full refund, up to seven days prior to the event. This applies to council-led events only.
Our program offerings provide enriching experiences for girls.
Check out our event categories to find events that match a Girl Scout's needs and interests.
Civic Engagement Civic
Girl Scouting inspires members to find their voices and be advocates for the issues and ideas important to them. Every girl is encouraged to lead positive change through civic action and form her own ideas, opinions, beliefs, and political ideology. Events marked purple indicate programs related to civic engagement.
Global Engagement Global
No matter their age, Girl Scouts can engage with global issues. Events marked blue indicate programs with global themes. For even more activities to do individually or as a troop, check out the global page of our website at gskentuckiana.org/global.
Family Engagement Family
The whole family can join in the fun! There are lots of ways families can be involved in Girl Scouts, and sometimes that means enjoying an outing together. These events are open for the whole gang to come along as their Girl Scout discovers the world. Everyone shares the fun when a family sees an event through a Girl Scout's eyes! Family events show the various costs for the Girls Scout, adults and tagalongs. Tagalongs are siblings or friends (both boys and girls) who join an event or program, accompanied by parents or guardian.
Spark! Events Spark!
SPARK! events can stir interest in future careers. Talk with women professionals, tour facilities, and engage in interactive activities.
Optional Overnights Opt. Overnight
New this season! When troops attend designated events held at one of the council's camps, members can often extend the fun with a prearranged overnight stay onsite! See page 9 for details.
Patch of the Month
Looking to add more diversity, equity, and inclusion topics into your troop meetings? Look no further! Each month, girls can Discover, Connect, and Take Action in a specific subject area. Hands-on activities are available for all Girl Scout levels and can be done at meetings, as a pre-meeting activity, or as an at-home project.
This fall and winter, Patch of the Month programs offer Girl Scouts and their troops an opportunity to learn more about the diverse cultural landscape of America while also earning a fun patch! Completing patch programs can help complete a Journey and may satisfy requirements for certain badges. It’s not necessary to complete the patch programs in the months specified—they can be completed at any time! Find the packets at:
gskentuckiana.org/patchofthemonth.

Learning by Earning
Two things a Girl Scout can look forward to during the school year are the Fall Product Program and the famous Girl Scout Cookie Program. Both voluntary programs develop fantastic skills for members. By participating, troops can have big fun and earn resources to power their adventures throughout the year.
Fall Product Program
September 18 – October 22
Participating in the Fall Product Program is a great way to earn start-up funds for uniforms and unique, amazing experiences for your troop!
Troops earn 20-25% of the proceeds from the Fall Product Program. Girls also earn awesome individual rewards and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills. This program is very easy to complete online and includes lots of great interactive features for girls like creating their own custom-designed avatar.
Cookie Program
January 15 – March 31
By selling cookies, a Girl Scout is part of the largest girl-led business in the world!
The famous Girl Scout Cookie Program is a tradition that troops, girls, and families can all enjoy. Troops earn a profit from all sales, and girls have the opportunity to set goals and earn awesome individual and troop rewards! Troops earn money to fund their troop adventures as well as many programmatic incentives. During door-to-door and in-person sales, girls improve their interpersonal and communication skills. Virtual and video training opportunities are available for adults.
Visit gskentuckiana.org/productprograms for product program news and updates.
Contact Diana Clark dyclark@gskentuckiana.org for more information and/or materials.
Training Highlights for Adults
Adult volunteers are the driving, thriving, fearless force behind Girl Scouts, so well-informed leaders are a bedrock for troop success.
Training is always available. Sometimes it can come from a workshop led by volunteers or staff. Or it might look like an online, self-paced course. Or it may be a hands-on experience in the great outdoors.
Training volunteers is important to our mission of creating a great experience for every Girl Scout.
Whether they are a new volunteer in their first year or a well-established guru, adults can find the learning they need to power the fun for girls.

Spend the night and extend the fun!
Hey grownups, if your troop participates in an outdoor program on a GSK property and would like to extend your stay at camp, you can choose to stay overnight in a pre-reserved space! The fee will be $10 per person.
Do leaders need to first have outdoor trainings?
Nope!
A member of GSK outdoor staff will be on property overnight to act as your trained adult.
Yes!
Do I need to maintain my youth/ adult ratio?
Leaders must provide enough adults to maintain the required youth/adult ratio during the entire stay at camp. GSK outdoor staff will sleep in a separate dwelling.
It depends!
What kind of activities can I do?
All activities must be run by troop leaders. For a list of outdoor activities that don't require trainings in advance, visit the GSK properties and outdoor website (GSKcamps.org)
