Make a Difference by Volunteering at our Signature Events!
We need the help of dedicated adult volunteers and older level troops to make our popular events a huge success. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help in a variety of ways! Greet participants at check in, lead an activity, assist in the mobile shop and more! Volunteer perks vary by event. Want to learn more? Email us at program@gsoh.org
Help at our Fall & Winter Events:
• Zombie Bash at Camp Ken-Jockety Oct. 7
• Fall Festival at Camp Crooked Lane Oct. 21
• Halloween Hike at Camp Ken-Jockety Oct. 28
• Fairy Tale Ball at the Zanesville Service Center Nov. 4 & 5
Today, women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce yet are drastically underrepresented in many fields - including STEM, indemand jobs, and leadership roles:
• Just 18% of STEM leadership roles are held by women.
• Women represent 15% of engineers and architects.
• Only 12% of computer science degrees are earned by women.
• Less than a third of women students choose to study higher education courses in subjects like math and engineering.
The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Dream Big Transformational Initiative will reimagine the 220-acre Camp Ken-Jockety and create a STEM immersive campus. Through this project, we will provide girls with the tools necessary to create pathways to indemand careers and bridge the gender gap in the STEM field. With access to cuttingedge programs, a safe place to learn new skills, and mentors encouraging them along the way, our girls will learn about jobs of the future to spark their interest and curiosity.
Troops have the opportunity to make a contribution to the Dream Big Initiative and be recognized with an engraved star that will be displayed on the second floor of the STEM Center.
• The decision to purchase a star must be unanimous for all participating troop members.
• Each registered participating troop member and their parent or caregiver must sign the agreement.
• By participating in this activity, troops who purchase a star will be entered into a drawing & five troops will be selected for an exclusive hard hat tour during the building process.
• Each troop member up to 12 will receive a Dream Big Super Troop Patch.
