Last September, the Secretaría de Turismo y Cultura de Veracruz invited us to be part of an unforgettable experience getting to know the most important tourist destinations of this wonderful state, taking advantage of this opportunity to have a photo shoot along this magical journey.
El pasado septiembre nos invitó la Secretaría de Turismo y Cultura de Veracruz a ser parte de una experiencia inolvidable conociendo los destinos turísticos más importantes de este maravilloso estado, aprovechando esta oportunidad para realizar una sesión de fotos a lo largo de este mágico recorrido.

#Gaycation recognized worldwide, but you don’t realize how accurate this is until the moment you experience it. And this is something that we realized in our visit to Veracruz, where throughout 5 days we were able to enjoy experiences that you have to be a part of at least once in your life. The first day was very short, since we arrived at the airport in Veracruz at night, where we were received by the team of the Secretaría de Turismo y Cultura, who welcomed us and took us to the hotel where we would be staying the next three nights, the Indigo Hotel in Boca del Río. This hotel has all the necessary services you need for a comfortable stay and a very privileged location facing the ocean in one of the best areas of this municipality. The second day started early, since we had scheduled a visit to Acuario de Veracruz, the largest aquarium in all of Latin America. We took the opportunity to explore this place and found sharks, manta rays, turtles, manatees, barracudas and an endless number of fish species. Finally we visited the dolphinarium

Y esto es algo que pudimos comprobar en nuestra visita a Veracruz, donde a lo largo de 5 días fuimos parte de experiencias que sin duda alguna tienes que vivir por lo menos una vez en tu vida. El primer día fue muy corto, ya que llegamos por la noche al aeropuerto de Veracruz, donde fuimos recibidos por el equipo de la Secretaría de Turismo y Cultura, que nos dio la bienvenida y nos llevó al hotel donde nos estaríamos hospedando las próximas tres noches, el Hotel Indigo en Boca del Río. Este hotel cuenta con todos los servicios necesarios para una estancia cómoda y su ubicación es muy privilegiada al tener vista directa al mar y estar en una de las mejores zonas de este municipio. El segundo día empezó desde temprano, ya que teníamos programada una visita al Acuario de Veracruz, el más grande de toda Latinoamérica. Aprovechamos para explorar

and the penguin habitat, where we were allowed to meet and pet the beautiful penguins. After the aquarium we went to the restaurant Gran Café de la Parroquia, an emblematic place in Veracruz and known throughout Mexico for its famous lechero (milk coffee), which is a must in this place to enjoy with your meal. We also tried the famous bombas, canillas and other typical dishes from Veracruz that gave us enough energy for the rest of the day. From here we went for a tour of the city, where the first stop was Foro Boca, a wonderful and monumental venue that houses the Boca del Rio philharmonic and some of the best cultural performances that come to the city. After we left, we took a walk along the Boulevard, which was recently remodeled and has become the meeting point of the locals. We finished the tour of the city visiting the historic center, where

También pudimos degustar las famosas bombas, canillas y otros platillos de antojitos veracruzanos que nos cargaron de energía para el resto del día. De aquí nos fuimos a dar un recorrido por la ciudad, donde la primera parada fue el Foro Boca, un recinto maravilloso y monumental que alberga a la filarmónica de Boca del Río y algunas de las mejores propuestas artísticas que llegan a la ciudad. Al salir dimos un paseo por el Boulevard, el cual
39 fue remodelado recientemente y se ha convertido en el punto de encuentro de los locales. Terminamos el recorrido de esta día visitando el centro histórico, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de pasear a lo largo del Zócalo de Veracruz y el Malecón, donde nuestros amigos de Tours & Tickets nos invitaron a subirnos en un tranvía y nos llevaron a conocer otros puntos turísticos de esta hermosa ciudad. we took a walk along the Zócalo de Veracruz and the famous Malecón, where our friends from Tours & Tickets invited us to hop on a Tramway and took us to explore other tourist spots of this beautiful city. The third day also started early, so we had a quick breakfast at the hotel and headed to the beach to take a tour by Amphibian Tours, a tour operator certified in LGBT travel. They took us by boat to visit the Isla de Sacrificios and we hopped on some kayaks to ride around the island and appreciate the vegetation and the lighthouse of this magnificent place from the sea. After the tour we headed towards Mandinga, a town of fishermen who bring fresh produce every day to local restaurants. The view of the mangroves and the river that can be seen from this place is simply breathtaking. We arrived at the restaurant La Llegada del Pescador, where we enjoyed a delicious meal by the river while we listened to music by a trío jarocho (musical group typical of Veracruz). It is worth mentioning that the specialty in this restaurant is seafood, which are some of the freshest we have
El tercer día también comenzó temprano, por lo que desayunamos rápido en el hotel y nos dirigimos a la playa para tomar un tour a cargo de Amphibian Tours, operadora certificada en turismo LGBT. Nos llevaron en lancha a conocer la Isla de Sacrificios y nos montamos en unos kayaks para rodear la isla y apreciar desde el mar la vegetación y el faro de este magnífico lugar. Después del tour salimos en dirección a Mandinga, un poblado de pescadores que llevan producto fresco todos los días a los restaurantes del lugar. La vista de los manglares y el río que se puede apreciar en este lugar es simplemente maravillosa.

41 The fourth day we had breakfast at the hotel and checked out. We all got into the van and headed to Xalapa. This city is known for its great cultural life and has the second largest anthropology museum in Mexico and more than 80 art galleries of all styles, in addition to its renowned symphony and theater scene. The first stop was the Museo de Antropología de Xalapa. In this place you can find the second largest collection of pre-Hispanic art of Mesoamerica in the world, with around 2,500 pieces. The pieces that can be found in this museum belong to several ancient civilizations, with the Olmec, Totonac and Huasteca being the main ones. After the museum we went to Coatepec, part of the magical villages programme of Mexico. This place captivates you with its colorful streets, old buildings and friendly atmosphere. Here we took a walk along the historic center making mandatory stops in the Church of San Jerónimo and the park, where we bought mantecado ice cream, something you can’t miss in your visit. Since we were in the area we decided to make a stop in M Café to indulge ourselves with one of

As we began to feel hungry we headed to Casa Bonilla restaurant, where we decided to forget the diet, order a little bit of everything and delight ourselves with some delicious shrimp, beef tampiqueña style and arrachera (flank steak). It is a very charming place with a cozy atmosphere and amazing service.

After lunch it was finally time to arrive to our hotel in Xalapa to rest for a while, so we went to the Colombe Hotel, a place that surprises you from the moment you walk in with its elegant decor and chic atmosphere. The rooms have a touch of luxury and elegance and at the same time they are very cozy and comfortable, so we took advantage of the facilities to relax and recharge before going out to explore the rest of Xalapa.

Before dinner we went for a walk along the downtown Xalapa area, where we visited Plaza Lerdo, the Jesus te Ampare alley, the Xalapeños Ilustres street and Parque Juarez, where you can admire a beautiful view of the city from its viewpoint, especially at sunset. We walked until nightfall, stopping in some places to buy souvenirs. The last stop of the day was the restaurant El Salto de Xala, where we ate some delicious molcajetes with shrimp, sausage with cheese and arrachera, accompanied by a delicious red wine. We spent the rest of the night there toasting, talking and listening to some live music in the restaurant. The last day started with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Nothing like some chilaquiles, eggs and coffee to start the day. After breakfast and taking some pictures in the hotel we checked out and left for Xico, a beautiful magical village where every year in July there is a big party in honor of Santa María Magdalena. Xico is definitely a magical village that makes you fall in love at first sight. Its cobblestone streets, ancient churches and colorful houses enchant you as you

Thursdays in Mexico have become days of getting together with friends, revisiting the black book of old lovers and partners and take on the task of contacting one by one until we find the one that got away. Or at least it is the premise of the TV show Mi Lista de Exes, an amazing comedy that makes us wonder if we already met the love of our lives and let them go. We talked with Marcos Radosh, who plays Lolo, the gay best friend that everyone wants by their side on this complicated journey.
Los jueves en México son días de juntarse con amigos, sacar el libro negro de exes y darse a la tarea de contactar uno por uno hasta encontrar a ese indicado que se nos escapó de las manos. How would you describe Mi Lista de Exes? I see it as a change, it's a break in national television, a fresh, different show and actually a very funny situation comedy. I see it as a great opportunity for varied and new content to be showcased on TV.

¿Qué mensaje importante consideras que el programa ofrece a los televidentes? El tratar con naturalidad la sexualidad de todos los personajes. Se convierte en un mensaje, más inconsciente que directo, de que la sexualidad es algo que se vive, se comparte, se respeta y no tiene que ser un tema. What important message do you think the show offers its viewers? Treating all the characters’s sexuality very naturally. It becomes a message, perhaps more implied than actually said, that sexuality is something that is lived, shared, respected and does not have to become a big deal. How do you identify with Lolo? The challenge with this character was how to play it without being too over the top, how to achieve a balance between the fun and the realness of the character, and for that I took a lot of how I am. So in the end Lolo ended up being an alter ego that dresses amazing. What does the future hold for the show? Fortunately, we have been well received by the public and we’ve had very positive reactions and comments. For this edition we interviewed Eduardo Togi, actor and singer originally from Tampico, Tamaulipas, who has captivated us with his beautiful voice and the work he has done on the small screen, being Atrapada his most recent acting project. We talked to him about his career and the projects he will be appearing in next.

How did your interest in acting come about? I used to live in the United States in a boarding school, I loved acting out all these films that they played for us and imitating the voices. When I returned to Mexico, people started to recommend me to the theater teacher at my school, so she offered me the lead role in a musical comedy. I suffered bullying all my life for being “weird" and I was afraid of

This year we saw how drag art took over YouTube thanks to our friends from La Más Draga, who put all their creativity and determination into creating a unique and completely Mexican show. We spoke with Carlo Villarreal and Bruno Olvez, creators of the program and La Gran Diabla, to learn more about this ambitious project.
