Si eres mexicano, en algún momento jugaste a la Lotería. Y si no lo eres, deberías de intentarlo. Todos tuvimos grandes momentos de diversión y distracción al escuchar esas frases que hacían alusión a cada tarjeta de este juego tan peculiar. Inmediatamente colocábamos nuestro frijolito o ficha sobre el espacio correcto y esperábamos con emoción que anunciaran la siguiente tarjeta hasta cubrir todo nuestro tablero y ser el primero en gritar ¡Lotería!

Y es de esta forma que celebramos a México en esta ocasión. Por ser un país que nos ha dejado tantas costumbres y tradiciones que demuestran una riqueza cultural tan variada que hace a cada mexicano sentirse orgulloso de sus raíces y a los que visitan este hermoso país por primera vez saber que están descubriendo un lugar maravilloso y sin igual.

Queremos agradecer al Fondo Mixto de Promoción Turística de la CDMX por todo el apoyo brindado en la realización de esta edición.

If you are Mexican, at some point you played Lotería. And if you're not, you should try it.

We all had great moments of fun and amusement hearing those phrases that allude to each card of this unique game. We would immediately place one of our beans or chips on the right space and excitedly wait for the next card to be announced, hoping to cover our entire board and be the first to shout Lotería!

And it is this way that we celebrate Mexico this time. For being a country that has given us so many customs and traditions that showcase a very varied cultural wealth that makes every Mexican proud of its roots and those who visit this beautiful country for the first time know that they are discovering a wonderful place like no other.

¡Preparándote para viajar al extranjero!

Getting ready to travel abroad!

Flavio Araiza ¡Finalmente llegó el momento de planear tus vacaciones! Tú y yo sabemos que no es cosa fácil... Y ya que hemos escuchado tantas buenas recomendaciones sobre lugares en los que puedes conocer a gente genial, es fundamental seguir al pie de la letra estos tips previos a tu viaje para que tu única ocupación sea disfrutar a lo grande.

1. Presupuesto: Ten en claro la cantidad de dinero a invertir, así sabrás cuáles son tus opciones reales de destino. Lleva un poco más por cualquier cosa.

2. Documentos: Considerando que viajarás al extranjero, investiga si requieres de una visa o de la aplicación de alguna vacuna para poder ingresar a ese país. Lleva contigo fotocopias de estos documentos así como tu ID y guárdalos en un sitio aparte en caso de robo o extravío.

3. Tipo de viaje: Las actividades y lugares a conocer son distintas si viajas como mochilero, con amigos, familia o en pareja. Por lo que te aconsejo que seas muy flexible, ya que hay mucho que planear para que sean unas vacaciones que disfruten todos.

4. Seguro médico: Su trámite es fácil y el costo muy accesible, aunque por supuesto que no pretendes utilizarlo.

Sin embargo, será de gran utilidad en caso de un imprevisto.

5. Bancos: Hazle saber a tus bancos las fechas y lugar al que viajarás. Ya que cuando detectan compras en lugares inusuales los bancos bloquean tus líneas de crédito. Y créeme que no querrás estar tan lejos de casa sin poder utilizar tus tarjetas.

6. Costumbres: Investiga sobre las costumbres y comportamiento básico que se exige en ese país y sobre todo si existe un trato "gay friendly".

7. Equipaje: De acuerdo con el tipo de viaje que planeaste, sabrás lo que es necesario llevar. Siempre es una buena idea llevar algo formal, algo cómodo, algo abrigador y también algo muy ligero en caso de que haga mucho calor. No olvides que existe la posibilidad de que la aerolínea extravíe tu maleta, por lo que contratar un seguro contra pérdida de equipaje será tu salvación en caso de que suceda.

8. Medicamentos: Es una excelente idea traer contigo medicina básica que te quite un dolor de cabeza, de estómago, mareo e incluso una diarrea. Si por alguna razón tomas un medicamento como parte de algún tratamiento no olvides traer contigo una receta médica para mostrarla en los puntos de inspección de los aeropuertos.

Sin duda alguna, estos consejos te permitirán sentirte más seguro y respaldado durante tu estancia en el extranjero. ¡Felíz Viaje!

It’s finally time to plan your next trip!

You and I both know that it’s not easy...

And now that we’ve heard so many good recommendations about places where you can meet great people, it’s essential to follow step by step these tips before you travel so that your only worry is to have a great time.

1. Budget: Be certain about how much money you have available, so that you know for sure which are your options when it comes to a destination. Bring some extra money with you just in case.

2. Documentation: Considering you will be traveling abroad, find out if you require a visa or specific vaccine in order to enter that country. Bring copies of these documents and your ID and keep them in a separate place in case of theft or loss.

3. Type of trip: The activities and places to visit are different if you travel as a backpacker, with friends, family or as a couple. So I advise you to be very flexible, as there is a lot to consider while planning your trip so that everyone can enjoy it.

4. Health insurance: The procedure is easy and the cost is very accessible, even though of course you don’t intend to use it. However, it will be useful in case of an unforeseen event.

5. Banks: Let your banks know the date and place where you will be traveling to. Since, when they detect a purchase in unusual places, banks block your credit lines. And believe me you do not want to be so far from home without being able to use your cards.

6. Customs - Find out about the customs and basic behavior required in that country and especially if there is a "gay friendly"approach.

7. Luggage: Depending on the type of trip you planned, you'll know what you need to pack. It’s always a good idea to pack something formal, something comfortable, something warm and also something light in case it’s hot. Don’t forget that there’s a possibility that the airline might misplace your suitcase, so insurance against loss of luggage will be your salvation if this happens.

8. Medicine: It's an excellent idea to bring with you basic medicines for a headache, stomachache, dizziness and even diarrhea. If for some reason you take a drug as part of a treatment don’t forget to bring with you a prescription to show at the airport’s checkpoints.

Without any doubt, these tips will allow you to feel more confident and supported during your stay abroad.

Es donde todo lo demás pierde el sentido, el lugar donde te das cuenta que vivir en la ciudad no es vivir y donde puedes replantearte lo que quieres hacer el resto de tu vida. Es la Riviera Maya.

Llegas de vacaciones y las opciones están por doquier: Un hotelito boutique en la quinta avenida en Playa o tal vez una cabaña ecológica en Tulum, sin contar todos los all-inclusive que están repartidos por la Riviera. Vas a ver las ruinas de aquí, el show de allá, los parques temáticos.

Pero ya cuando vienes con más frecuencia comienzan a aparecer lugares de los que no todo mundo habla: Playa Maroma, las playas de Xcacel y Xpu-Ha, el snorkeling en Akumal y la reserva ecológica de Sian Ka’an. Comienzas a buscar esos lugares donde los turistas casi no llegan, donde puedes tener un poquito más de intimidad con el paraíso y así comienzas a darte cuenta de destinos que, sin tener un all-inclusive o todos los servicios, llenan más las expectativas de una experiencia con la madre naturaleza.

El Turismo LGBT de los TONES LGBT Tourism over 30

Es un hecho que no viajamos de igual forma a los 20 años que a los 40 o a los 50. Todos crecemos, cambiamos y por lo mismo, también cambian nuestros intereses, gustos y prioridades. Y si eres de los que nunca cambiaron, por lo menos debes reconocer que los achaques sí son más y son diferentes. Nos guste o no reconocerlo, ya no aguantamos lo mismo que antes.

¡Tranquilos, chavos! ¡No se asusten! Estos cambios se dan de forma natural y deben ser un reflejo de nuestra madurez personal.

Los TONES siempre buscaremos destinos turísticos y entretenimiento diferente al de los “spring breakers” y los LGBT más maduritos buscaremos espacios, ambientes en los que podamos sentirnos cómodos sin sentirnos señalados o juzgados.

De chavos muchos viajamos de mochilazo, de aventón, nuestro equipaje era ligero y también la cartera, preferíamos dejar de comer con tal de podernos comprar algo de ropa o cualquier capricho. El encanto de la primera vez en todo es algo maravilloso y digno de recordarse, pero lo mejor es siempre buscar nuevas “primeras veces”, explorar, descubrir, atrevernos, arriesgarnos, consentirnos.

¿Qué es un destino turístico LGBT?

A los TONES (los que rebasamos los 30 años) nos gusta apapacharnos siempre que es posible. Esa primera vez que viajamos en primera clase, que nos hospedamos en un buen hotel, que comimos en un buen restaurante, nunca se olvida, son pequeños logros personales, satisfacciones que se vuelven parte de nuestra historia.

En ocasiones cuesta trabajo darnos estos lujos pero bien vale la pena ahorrar para poder vivir nuevas experiencias. “Conforme pasan los años uno busca más calidad que cantidad”.

Cuando yo era más chavo (aunque sigo sintiéndome y estándolo a los 41) gran parte de mi dinero se iba en la fiesta, en los tragos, y fue dinero muy bien invertido porque viví a tope mi etapa de juventud y con ella obtuve experiencias y recuerdos que hoy no tienen precio. Sin embargo, llegando a los 40 creo que muchos disfrutamos más una buena cena en vez de un rave de miedo que nos robaría noches completas y días en los que podríamos disfrutar tranquilamente en una playa o paseando con nuestros perros por la colonia con un café en mano y un buen libro.

Al mencionar el término “Turismo LGBT” mucha gente piensa en drogas, sexo, orgías y fiesta interminable. Cuando alguien se acerca a mí y me hace este comentario, yo siempre pregunto: ¿Que ese no es un tema de juventud sin importar la orientación sexual?

Insisto: los seres humanos crecemos, cambiamos y si bien de todo puede encontrar uno en cualquier parte, los TONES LGBT por lo general buscamos tranquilidad, calidad, buen servicio y buen trato; lugares incluyentes, respetuosos de la libertad y los derechos de todos, porque nuestro dinero vale lo mismo que el de cualquiera.

Además, es bien sabido que un alto porcentaje de los LGBT gastamos más dinero en objetos de lujo y en servicio exclusivo, por lo que a todo el sector turístico le convendría volverse gay-friendly y comprender que el descanso es un privilegio y una necesidad de todo ser humano.

29 It is a fact that when we’re in our 20’s we don’t travel the same way as when we’re 40 or 50. We all grow up, change and therefore our interests, tastes and priorities also change. And if you are one of those who never changed, you should at least acknowledge that your complaints are now more and different.

Whether we like to recognize it or not, we don’t tough it out as much as we did before.

When we were younger many of us traveled as backpackers, hitchhikers, our luggage was lighter and also our wallet, we’d prefer to stop eating so we could buy some clothes or any whim.

The charm of the first time around is something wonderful and worth remembering, but it’s best to always seek new "firsts,"explore, discover, dare, take risks, indulge ourselves.

Us “TONES” (men over 30) like to pamper ourselves every time it’s possible. That first time we traveled in first class, we stayed in a nice hotel, we ate at a good restaurant, we never forget it, they turn into small personal achievements, satisfactions that become part of our story.

Sometimes it’s hard to allow ourselves these luxuries but it’s worth to save some money so that we can live new experiences. "As the years go by we look for quality over quantity".

When I was younger (although at 41 I still am and feel young) much of my money was spent in parties, drinks, and it was money well spent because I lived my youth to the fullest and with it I got experiences and memories that are priceless today. However, reaching 40 I think many of us enjoy more a glass of good wine that an intense party, or a nice dinner instead of an insane rave that would rob us full nights and days we could enjoy quietly on a beach or walking down the neighborhood with our dogs, a coffee in hand and a good book.

Relax, guys! Don’t panic! These changes occur naturally and must be a reflection of our personal maturity.

Us TONES will always look for tourist destinations and entertainment differently than the "spring breakers", and us mature LGBTs will look for spaces, environments in which we can feel comfortable without feeling pointed at or judged.

What is an LGBT tourist destination?

When you mention the term "LGBT Tourism"many people think of drugs, sex, orgies and endless party. When someone approaches me and makes this comment, I always ask: Isn’t that an issue with youth regardless of sexual orientation?

I insist: us human beings grow up, change and if it’s possible that you can find about everything anywhere, because not even avocados ripen all at the same time, the LGBT TONES usually seek tranquility, quality, good service and good treatment; places that are inclusive, respectful of our freedom and the rights of all, because our money is as good as anyone's.

Besides, it is well known that a high percentage of us LGBTs spend more money on luxury items and exclusive services, therefore the entire tourism industry should become gay-friendly and understand that rest is a privilege and a need for every human being.

So once and for all forget the idea that all of us non-heterosexuals are a real trainwreck. This type of mess doesn’t belong to a single sexual orientation.

I said! Besides, same-sex families also want the best for their children.

La Marcha del Orgullo LGBTTTI The LGBTTTI Pride Parade Salvador Núñez Un año más de nuestra Marcha LGBT en la Ciudad de México y terminamos con saldo rosa, el mensaje fue muy claro y contundente: “Todas Las Familias, Todos Los Derechos”.

Resultó emocionante estar cerca de la organización desde algunos meses previos al evento y ser testigo de que hubo apoyo, cariño y emoción. Había razones de sobra para estar alegres y celebrar los logros que hemos tenido en cuestión de derechos en la CDMX. Este año, la actitud de la gente fue distinta, a mí solo me tocó ver caras sonrientes y un trato amable y festivo. Me llamó la atención ver muchas parejas diversas emocionadas y tomadas de la mano. En esta ocasión se notó la presencia de familiares, de personas heterosexuales solidarizándose con la población LGBT y apoyando. Los carros alegóricos fueron mucho más vistosos que en otros años, todo mundo invirtió más en el evento.

El espectáculo comenzó alrededor de las 2:00 pm en el Zócalo. La conducción del evento corrió a cargo de Youtubers, actores y personalidades LGBT. Agradezco la oportunidad de haber conducido parte del espectáculo.

Se contó con la presencia de figuras reconocidas como Ninel Conde, Lorena Herrera y Alejandra Guzmán.

Estoy seguro de que en el 2017 seguirá creciendo la Marcha, se diversificará y se irá convirtiendo en un evento de todos y para todos.

Another year of our LGBT pride parade in Mexico City and we ended up with a pink outcome, the message was clear and forceful: "All Families, All Rights". It was exciting to be close to the planning for some months prior to the event and witness firsthand that there was support, love and emotion. There was every reason to be happy and celebrate the achievements we’ve had in a matter of rights in CDMX. This year, the attitude of the people was different, I only got to see smiling faces and a friendly and festive treatment.

I was happy to see so many diverse couples excited and holding hands. This time you could notice more relatives, straight people in solidarity with the LGBT community and support. The floats were much more colorful than in other years, everyone invested more in the event.

The show started around 2:00 pm in the Zocalo. Several LGBT Youtubers, actors and personalities were in charge of hosting the event. I appreciate the opportunity of hosting part of the show.

It was attended by renowned figures like Ninel Conde, Lorena Herrera and Alejandra Guzman.

I am sure that in 2017 the Parade will continue to grow, it will be diversified and it will become an event of all and for all.

¡LA ROSA! ¿Cómo la Zona Rosa llegó a ser lo que es hoy?

How did the “Zona Rosa” become what it is today?

Sebastián Sáenz Le Marais, Castro, Soho, West Village, Chueca... durante siglos la comunidad sexualmente diversa se ha encargado de apropiarse de áreas estratégicas en las ciudades más progresistas del mundo, y la #CDMX no es la excepción.

La Zona Rosa es hoy un lugar donde nuestra comunidad se siente bienvenida, protegida... a veces, hasta la señora de la casa. ¿Pero qué ha tenido que vivir este barrio para ser esta (me atrevo a decir) Meca?

Su localización céntrica, en la colonia Juárez (antes Americana), la ubica convenientemente a un lado del Paseo de la Reforma, de áreas de tendencia urbana como las colonias Roma y Condesa, y a unos minutos del Centro Histórico, de Polanco y de Chapultepec.

Los responsables de iniciar su auge fueron las familias acomodadas del Porfiriato. Desde 1898 ha sido sede de mansiones y de una población cosmopolita y generosa, incluyendo a artistas, embajadores, bohemios, gente de negocios, burócratas, turistas e intelectuales.

Actualmente es una zona que visitantes y locales no heterosexuales visitan con frecuencia. Esto gracias a sus cafés amigables, sus restaurantes con sazones de todo el mundo, sus activos... comercios (que van desde artesanías y joyas hasta antigüedades y juguetes sexuales), sus divertidos bares, sus oficinas concurridas, sus galerías kitsch, sus iglesias que parecen a punto de desmoronarse, y su vibrante vida nocturna. Quizá lo más curioso es que la Zona Rosa es hoy el punto de encuentro de músicos, fresas, nacos, Godínez, estudiantes, curiosos y demás grupos sociales y culturales, incluyendo a los sexuales.

Los negocios concentrados en la comunidad LGBTXYZ empezaron a surgir durante los '90s, y así la atmósfera de apertura e inclusión comenzó a respirarse.

Y aunque dicen que su nombre se lo dio José Luis Cuevas (en honor a la actriz Rosa Carmina), y hay varias teorías sobre este origen, lo que nos importa en 2016 es que el rosa es un color que nos abraza a nosotros.

Casi cualquiera llegará a la Glorieta de los Insurgentes y empezará obligadamente a caminar por Génova. Escabullirse por Hamburgo, Londres y Liverpool siempre es una escala agradable, hasta llegar a Amberes, donde los no heterosexuales solemos hacer nuestros nidos hasta que el cuerpo ya no aguanta (aunque hay quien prefiere Florencia). Y algo que agradecemos muchos en la ciudad es que podemos empezar la fiesta en cualquier bar cualquier día de la semana #MaldiciónGitana.

Obviamente que hay quien prefiere el Ángel de la Independencia para celebrar la última victoria del tri, pero para muchos otros es donde arranca la marcha cada último sábado de junio. Un tatuaje por aquí, una bolsa con una etiqueta falsa por allá, y un hípster que casi se escapa al final de la calle... la Zona Rosa es un refugio universal, una fuente de risas, y a veces, hasta el lugar donde conocimos a nuestro primer, último o siguiente novio.

49 Le Marais, Castro, Soho, West Village, Chueca ... for centuries the sexually diverse community has been responsible for taking over strategic areas in the most progressive cities in the world, and #CDMX is no exception. La Zona Rosa is now a place where our community feels welcome, protected... sometimes even the lady of the house. But what has this neighborhood had to go through to be this (dare I say) Mecca?

Its convenient location, in Colonia Juarez (formerly Americana), is right beside the Paseo de la Reforma, nearby trendy urban areas like Colonia Roma and Condesa, and a few minutes from downtown, Polanco and Chapultepec.

The people responsible of starting its rise were the wealthy families of the Porfiriato. Since 1898 it has been home to mansions and a cosmopolitan and extensive population, including artists, ambassadors, bohemians, business people, bureaucrats, tourists and intellectuals.

Currently it is an area that nonheterosexual tourists and locals frequently visit. This due to its friendly cafes, restaurants of worldwide cuisines, top... stores (ranging from handicrafts and jewelry to antiques and sex toys), fun bars, busy offices, kitsch galleries, churches that seem to be crumbling down and vibrant nightlife.

Perhaps what’s most intriguing is that the Zona Rosa today is the meeting point for musicians, preppies, “nacos” (Mexican version of white trash), “Godinez” (another word for office workers), students, curious people and other social and cultural groups, including the –sexual ones.

Businesses focused on the LGBTXYZ community began to emerge during the '90s, and so the atmosphere of openness and inclusion began to appear. And even though people say its name was given

by Jose Luis Cuevas (in honor of the actress Rosa Carmina), and there are several theories about its origin, what we care about in 2016 is that “rosa” (pink) is a color that embraces us.

Almost anyone will arrive at the Insurgentes roundabout and begin to walk along Genova. Sneaking by Hamburgo, Londres and Liverpool is always a pleasant stop, up to Antwerp, where we non-heterosexuals usually make our nests until our bodies give up (although some prefer Florencia).

And something that many in the city appreciate is that we can start the party at any bar any day of the week #MaldiciónGitana (Gipsy Curse in Spanish, “whoever drinks on Monday, drinks all week”).

Obviously some people prefer to go to the Angel de la Independencia monument to celebrate our national soccer team’s last victory, but for many others is where the Pride Parade starts every last Saturday of June. A tattoo here, a bag with a false label there, and a hipster that almost gets away at the end of the street ... Zona Rosa is a universal refuge, a source of laughter, and sometimes even the place where we met our first, last or next boyfriend.

Hoy en día estamos destinados a buscar todo en línea, ya sea que necesitemos la respuesta a un problema del trabajo o la escuela, informarnos de lo que está pasando en el mundo o simplemente aprender a hacer un peinado o platillo. En esta era de la tecnología es sorprendente todo lo que puedes encontrar al introducir un par de palabras en Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter y una cantidad impresionante de otras redes sociales y portales que nos dan a conocer en un abrir y cerrar de ojos las tendencias que hay aquí y del otro lado del mundo.

Una de las ventajas de la tecnología es que tenemos la oportunidad de leer o escuchar la opinión de otras personas antes de probar algo nuevo para saber si verdaderamente vale la pena gastar nuestro dinero o tiempo en ello, ya sea una película que está por salir, la última canción de uno de nuestros artistas favoritos o un nuevo producto de nuestra marca o diseñador favorito. Otra ventaja es que en varias ocasiones nos acercamos a estos líderes de opinión para saber desde una perspectiva ajena cuál es la mejor manera de sobrellevar situaciones especiales o de nuestra vida cotidiana, especialmente al ser parte de la comunidad LGBT, llegando a entender que muchas personas han pasado por lo mismo que nosotros y que, a pesar de todo, nunca estamos solos en nuestros momentos más difíciles y los más felices.

Nowadays we are destined to find everything online, whether we need the answer to a work or school-related problem, want to know what’s happening in the world or just learn how to make a hairstyle or recipe. In this age of technology it is amazing what you can find by typing a few words in Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and an astounding amount of other social networks and platforms that allow us to know in the blink of an eye what’s trending here and across the world.

One of the advantages of technology is that we have the opportunity to read or hear from others before trying something new in order to know if it’s really worth spending our money or time on it; whether it’s a movie that’s coming out, the most recent song from one of our favorite artists or a new product by our favorite designer or brand. Another advantage is that sometimes we approach these influencers to learn from a different perspective what is the best way to cope with special situations or everyday life, especially being part of the LGBT community, coming to understand that many people have gone through the same things as us and that, despite everything, we are never alone in our most difficult and happiest moments.

#AlexLo Una fiesta sin un buen DJ simplemente no es una fiesta. Y el ritmo perfecto en el momento ideal puede hacer que te prendas lo suficiente para aguantar hasta el amanecer, te pongas de buen humor y hagas nuevos amigos en la pista de baile, reúnas el valor para acercarte a hablar con esa persona que te ha mantenido intrigado toda la noche o hasta te enamores locamente, ya sea de por vida o sólo por hoy, de la persona que tienes a tu lado.

Alex Lo ha llevado siempre la música por dentro. Y aunque no sea cantante, toque un instrumento o componga una canción, su talento al mezclar canciones con ritmos originales lo ha hecho recorrer el mundo y consolidarse como uno de los DJs de música electrónica favoritos de la comunidad LGBT y fiestas circuit de México y otros países.

Hace 8 años cuando Alex apenas tenía 17, comenzó su carrera como DJ de forma amateur en fiestas privadas, pasarelas y otros eventos. Fue hasta el 15 de septiembre del 2011 cuando tocó por primera vez en uno de las fiestas de Karmabeat (productora de eventos de música house en México) y empezó a trabajar con ellos como DJ residente. El siguiente año nace el Festival Arena en Playa del Carmen y Alex se convierte también en uno de sus DJs residentes. Esto fue una excelente oportunidad para él ya que a lo largo de los años el festival se ha convertido en uno de los eventos de fiestas circuit y música electrónica con más impacto a nivel internacional.

Gracias a su talento y la popularidad que ha ganado, Alex ha sido capaz de presentarse en algunos de los eventos más reconocidos del mundo, incluyendo ciudades como Dubái, Ámsterdam, Lisboa, Bogotá, Santiago de Chile y muchas más. Recientemente regresó de un tour por Londres, Madrid, Zúrich, Barcelona y Tel Aviv, donde tuvo la oportunidad de tocar en la Papa Party organizada por Eliad Cohen para Tel Aviv Pride, uno de los eventos de orgullo LGBT más grandes del mundo.

A pesar de todo este éxito y que ha tenido algunas pausas por las giras internacionales en las que ha participado, Alex se mantiene muy centrado en sus estudios, por lo que este año se graduará como Ingeniero en Audio. Por lo mismo está interesado a futuro en estudiar una maestría en alguna otra rama del Audio.

En cuanto a futuros proyectos, estará asistiendo en julio a un evento en Cartagena representando al Festival Arena, en septiembre estará tocando en el 12° aniversario de The Week Saō Paulo y posteriormente en The Week Rio de Janeiro. Adicionalmente tiene planes a futuro para regresar a Europa, trabajar más en Asia y empezar a presentarse en Estados Unidos.

Definitivamente Alex es una persona que lleva la música en su cuerpo y a cada uno de los lugares que visita.

53 A party without a good DJ is simply not a party. And the perfect beat at the right time can get you going until dawn, put you in a good mood to make new friends on the dance floor, make you gather the courage to go talk to that person who has kept you captivated all night or even make you fall madly in love, either for life or just for tonight, with the person by your side.

Alex Lo has always had the music in him. And even if he’s not a singer, plays an instrument or writes songs, his talent when mixing songs with original beats has made him travel around the world and establish himself as one of the favorite EDM DJs amongst the LGBT community and circuit parties in Mexico and other countries.

8 years ago when Alex was just 17, he began his career as an amateur DJ at private parties, fashion shows and other events. It was not until September 15, 2011 when he played for the first time at a Karmabeat party (producers of house music events in Mexico) and started working with them as a resident DJ. The following year Arena Festival in Playa del Carmen was held for the first time and Alex also became one of its resident DJs. This was an excellent opportunity for him because over the years the festival has become one of the most important events for circuit parties and electronic music worldwide.

Thanks to his talent and the popularity he has earned, Alex has been able to perform at some of the most renowned events in the world, including cities like Dubai, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Bogota, Santiago de Chile and more. He recently returned from a tour across London, Madrid, Zurich, Barcelona and Tel Aviv, where he had the opportunity to play in the Papa Party organized by Eliad Cohen for Tel Aviv Pride, one of the largest LGBT pride events in the world.

Despite all this success and having some breaks due to the international tours he has attended, Alex remains very focused on his studies, so this year he will graduate as Engineer in Audio. He’s also interested in studying a masters in any other branch of Audio in the near future.

As for future projects, he will be attending an event in July in Cartagena representing Arena Festival, in September he will be playing at the 12th anniversary party of The Week Sao Paulo and afterwards in The Week Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally he has future plans to return to Europe, work more in Asia and start performing in the United States. Alex is definitely a person who has the music in him and brings it with him to every place he visits.

Me inspiro mucho en la estética del 'anime', ya sabes, esas caricaturas japonesas. ¡Me gustan mucho! Me inspiro en figuras como Brooke Candy, Muñecas Monster High, Megan Fox, Alaina Beaton (Porcelain Black) y Pocahontas y confieso que Eiza González tiene un estilo muy inspirador, jaja. ¿Cómo descubriste que te gusta hacer drag?

Desde chico tenía rasgos delicados que resaltados con maquillaje me asemejaban mucho a una chica y decidí sacarle provecho. ¿Cómo describes tu estilo?

Creo que mi estilo sería high school/ androgynous/fishy/sexy/suicide y hasta un poco trashy. ¿Cuál ha sido tu experiencia favorita desde que eres influencer?

Creo que darme cuenta de que hay gente que aprecia lo que hago y lo ve como algo admirable y está a la expectativa de que voy a compartir en mi siguiente video. Me llena mucho eso. ¿Has tenido alguna experiencia negativa con algún seguidor?

Creo que la gente que se la pasa revisando lo que haces, publicas o dices y que critican y comentan odio, cuentan como los más fieles seguidores. ¿Hay algún mensaje principal que te guste transmitir a tus seguidores?

La tolerancia y el respeto para mi es súper importante y creo que trato de recalcarlo siempre que tengo la oportunidad e igual de importante es que estoy turbo en contra del bullying.

¿De qué manera abordas temas de la diversidad sexual en tus proyectos?

Pues en realidad creo que siendo lo que soy lo primero que represento es la diversidad, e igual trato de transmitirle a la gente que no hay que odiar lo desconocido, que hay muchos colores en el arcoíris y repito, que la tolerancia y el respeto son muy importantes. ¿Hay alguna iniciativa, fundación o campaña que apoyes o hayas apoyado anteriormente? ¡Claro! Soy vocero junto con Mickey (Monster Drag) en una campaña que promueve la importancia del condón, salud sexual y reproductiva para Prudence DKT México 2016. ¿Cómo te ves en 5 años?

Who inspires Genn Taft?

I am inspired a lot by the aesthetics of 'anime', you know, those Japanese cartoons. I like them a lot! I draw inspiration from figures like Brooke Candy, Monster High dolls, Megan Fox, Alaina Beaton (Porcelain Black) and Pocahontas and I confess that Eiza González has a very inspiring style, haha.

How did you discover that you like to do drag?

Since young I’ve had delicate features that, when accentuated with makeup, make me resemble a girl a lot, so I decided to take advantage of it.

How would you describe your style?

I think my style would be high school/ androgynous/fishy/sexy/suicide and even a little trashy.

What has been your favorite experience as an influencer?

I think it’s realizing that there are people who appreciate what I do and see it as something admirable and are waiting to see what I will be sharing with them in my next video. It makes me feel fulfilled.

Have you had any negative experience with a fan?

I think people who keeps reviewing what you do, publish or say and criticize and comment hateful things, count as the most faithful followers.

Is there a main message you like to convey to your followers?

Tolerance and respect is super important for me and I think I try to emphasize it every time I have the opportunity, and as equally important is that I am completely against bullying.

In what way do you tackle issues of sexual diversity in your videos and projects?

Well, actually I think that by being who I am the first thing I do is represent diversity, and I also try to convey to people not to hate the unknown, there are many colors in the rainbow and, as I said, that tolerance and respect are very important.

Is there any initiative, foundation or campaign you support or have supported in the past?

Of course! I'm a spokesman with Mickey (from Monster Drag) in a campaign that promotes the importance of condoms, sexual and reproductive health for Prudence DKT Mexico 2016.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years I must be prettier hahaha, a better person, happier, more peaceful, stable, and “always winning."

#JaimeKohen ¿Quién es Jaime Kohen?

Nací el 9 de septiembre de 1986 en la Ciudad de México, en una familia judía proveniente de Líbano y Siria.

Comencé mis estudios profesionales como diseñador en Nueva York; durante este tiempo, pasé una crisis muy intensa al abrir mi sexualidad con mi familia. La música fue una de las herramientas más positivas para mi sanación, y es por eso que comencé a componer, para liberar todo mi proceso y hacer por alguien más lo que la música estaba haciendo por mí en un momento tan difícil.

Mi intención como músico: Encontrar las cosas en común entre los seres humanos, para transmitir mensajes en letras sencillas con las que todos se puedan identificar.

Considero que mi estilo es un Pop fresco & propositivo.

Julio de 2010 – Sale mi álbum debut “Fotosíntesis” (EMI Music). Fue grabado en Los Ángeles, CA. El disco incluye 15 temas, la mayoría de mi autoría. Entre ellos “Alguien”, tema que promueve el amor a uno mismo y la aceptación.

Contraluz (2013) – Mi segundo álbum, “Contraluz”, representó un cambio muy importante ya que mi disquera cerro y me convertí en un artista independiente.

Contraluz Vol. II (2014) – Se caracteriza por las colaboraciones con amigos que al igual que yo, hacen Pop Independiente, como: Mariana Vega, Roger González, Sherlyn, Pambo y Tren a Marte. El tema “Tú de rojo y yo amarillo” promueve el amor como un valor universal y las bodas de diversidad. Este tema fue el último que entro al disco cuando decidí hacer

pública mi preferencia sexual, en el museo de Memoria y Tolerancia de DF en Marzo de 2014 como una protesta pacífica hacia diferentes actos de discriminación que suceden aún en México y en distintas partes del mundo contra personas con una preferencia sexual diferente.

En la actualidad: He estudiado Kabbalah, Astrología China, Yoga, I-Ching, Reiki, Numerología y Sanación Bioenergética.

Who is Jaime Kohen?

I was born on September 9, 1986 in Mexico City, to a Jewish family from Lebanon and Syria. I started my professional studies as a designer in New York; during this time, I went through a very tough moment as I opened up about my sexual orientation with my family.

Music was one of the key tools towards my healing, and that is why I started to compose, to unleash my process and do for someone else what music was doing for me at a very difficult time.

My purpose as a musician: To find the things in common between humans, to convey messages in simple lyrics with which everyone can relate. I think my style is a cool & purposing Pop. July 2010 – My debut album “Fotosíntesis” (EMI Music) comes out. It was recorded in Los Angeles, CA. The album includes 15 songs, most of my authorship. Amond them is "Alguien", song that promotes self-love and acceptance.

Contraluz (2013) – My second album, “Contraluz”, represented a major change since my record label closed and I became an independent artist.

Contraluz Vol. II (2014) – It contains collaborations I did with friends who, just like me, do Independent Pop, such as: Mariana Vega, Roger González, Sherlyn, Pambo and Tren a Marte. The song “Tú de rojo y yo amarillo” promotes love as a universal value and marriage equality. This song was the last to make it into the album when I decided to make public my sexual orientation, at the Museum of Memory and Tolerance of Mexico City in March 2014 as a peaceful protest to various acts of discrimination that still occur in Mexico and around the world against people with a different sexual orientation.

#JonasVloggers ¿Cómo se conocieron?

Luis y David se conocieron en un desfile de modas y a Mickey años después vía internet. ¿Cómo describen su estilo?

Jonas Vloggers es muy POP en general, nos inspiramos mucho visualmente en la cultura pop, en redes sociales, en los grupos de K-pop, en el Young Hollywood. Es una mezcla de todas las cosas que nos gustan y que están pasando en este momento. Por eso todo es muy cambiante, a veces somos más glam, a veces más rocker, a veces más grunge. Depende lo que nos esté inspirando en ese momento.

Y lo padre es que a cada uno nos inspiran diferentes cosas, entonces hay una mezcla padre. ¿Ha cambiado su estilo desde que empezaron? ¡Claro! Siempre estamos evolucionando. Al final eso es lo cool de tener un canal que sea tuyo, que puedes hacer los cambios que quieras en el momento que quieras.

Creo que en esencia seguimos siendo los mismos solo que con el tiempo tratamos de pulir nuestro trabajo lo más que podemos.

¿Qué es lo que más disfrutan de trabajar juntos?

Lo primero es que siempre hay una energía padre, somos amigos y siempre pasamos un buen rato; y lo segundo es que como somos tan diferentes a cada uno se nos ocurren cosas y es muy interesante dejarse llevar con esa mezcla de ideas y ver donde termina. ¿Cuál de sus videos es el que más han disfrutado grabar?

Es difícil elegir uno, por que ver el canal es ver muchos recuerdos de momentos muy padres que hemos vivido juntos.

Pero recientemente creo que el video con Belinda es nuestro favorito.

Desde que empezamos era un sueño que teníamos y ver que después de perseverancia y esfuerzo lo logramos fue muy genial. Además ese día fue increíble estar en casa de Beli haciendo loqueras. Y el resultado es un video muy chistoso.

¿Cuál ha sido el viaje más divertido que han hecho juntos?

Cuando fuimos a Cancún fue muy divertido, porque fuimos solo a grabar, no teníamos que hacer ninguna presentación y en realidad el viaje solo se trató de estar juntos y divertirnos. ¿Hay algún mensaje principal que les guste transmitir a sus seguidores?

El mensaje principal de Jonas Vloggers es aceptación. El canal se trata de divertirse, de hacer loqueras, de reírse de sí mismo y de darte cuenta que al final uno debe ser y hacer de su vida lo que lo haga feliz. ¿De qué manera abordan temas de la diversidad sexual en sus proyectos?

Tratamos de que sea de la manera más orgánica e inclusiva posible. A pesar de que empezamos siendo un “Canal Gay” creo que poco a poco nos hemos sacudido esa etiqueta.

Somos gays, punto. Pero eso ya no es el hilo conductor del canal. La idea es hacer contenido que pueda ver y disfrutar cualquier persona, sea gay o no. Tratamos de pasar la sexualidad a un segundo plano y demostrar que, al final del día, todos somos iguales. Esa es nuestra forma de hacer activismo de alguna manera. ¿Hay alguna iniciativa, fundación o campaña que apoyen o hayan apoyado en algún momento?

Cada año trabajamos con la Secretaría de Salud de la Ciudad de México.

Nosotros somos un punto de inflexión de ellos con un público joven que a veces no se interesa por lo que una institución tenga que decir. Nuestro trabajo es hacerles llegar a los chavos

Ahora no, creo que eso es lo padre de Jonas Vloggers. Cualquiera conecta con alguno de nosotros de alguna manera y por ende tenemos un público muy diverso. Desde el colectivo LGBTTTI, hasta niños, señoras y chavos heterosexuales. ¿Cómo se ven en 5 años?

Es difícil predecir algo exactamente porque hemos hecho tantas loqueras diferentes que no sabemos a dónde nos está llevando este camino. Pero si nos gustaría seguir sumándonos a proyectos padres. Hacer cosas dentro del canal y también por fuera. Creo que en un mundo donde la televisión o el espectáculo en general cada vez se mimetiza más con el internet el límite es solo tu propia creatividad y tus ganas. ¿Qué es lo siguiente para Jonas Vloggers?

Por ahora el concurso de #quieroservlogger. Fuera de eso seguir pensando en cosas divertidas y en mejorar la calidad de nuestro canal, eso es algo en lo que trabajamos continuamente.

How do you describe your style?

Jonas Vloggers is generally very POP, we draw a lot of inspiration visually from pop culture, social media, K-pop groups and Young Hollywood. It is a mixture of all the things we like and that are happening at the moment. So everything is constantly changing, sometimes we are more glam, sometimes more rocker, sometimes more grunge. It depends on what’s inspiring us at the time. And what’s cool is that each of us is inspired by different things, so it’s a great mix.

Have you changed your style since you started?

Of course! We are always evolving. In the end that's what’s cool about having your own channel, you can make the changes you want whenever you want them. I think in essence we’re still the same but as time goes by we try to polish our work as much as we can.

What do you most enjoy about working together?

The first thing is that there’s always great energy, we are friends and always have a good time; and the second is that because we are so different we all come up with stuff, and it’s very interesting to get carried away with that mixture of ideas and see where it goes.

Which video have you most enjoyed shooting?

It’s difficult to choose one, because going through our channel is watching many memories of great times we’ve had together.

But recently I think the video we did with Belinda is our favorite. Since we started it was a dream we had and it was awesome to see that after perseverance and effort we were finally able to make it. Besides, it was amazing to be at Beli’s home that day doing crazy stuff. And the result is a very funny video.

What has been the most fun trip you've ever took together?

When we went to Cancun was fun, because we were just shooting, we didn’t have any show or appearance, and the trip was actually only about being together and having fun.

Is there a main message you like to convey to your followers?

The Jonas Vloggers’ main message is acceptance. The channel is all about having fun, doing crazy things, laughing at yourself and realizing that in the end you should only be and do with your life whatever makes you happy.

How do you address issues of sexual diversity in your projects?

We try to make it in the most organic and inclusive way we can. Although we started as a "Gay Channel"I think gradually we have gotten rid of that label. We are gay, period.

But that is no longer the driving force of the channel. The idea is to make content that any person can see and enjoy, whether gay or not.

We try to keep the sexuality in the background and show that, at the end of the day, we are all equal. That is our way of doing activism in some level.

Is there any initiative, foundation or campaign you support or have supported in the past?

Each year we work with the Ministry of Health of Mexico City. We are a link between them and a young audience that sometimes is not interested in what an institution has to say. Our job is to provide your people with important information about health and sexuality in a way that is interesting to them.

Do you think that your material targets a specific audience?

Not now, I think that's what’s cool about Jonas Vloggers. Anyone can relate to any of us in some way and therefore we have a very diverse audience. From the LGBTTTI collective to children, women and straight guys and girls.

How do see yourselves in 5 years?

It’s difficult to predict something in particular because we have done so many different crazy things that we don’t know where this path is taking us. But we would like to continue to work with cool projects. To do things with our channel and out of it. I believe in a world where television or entertainment in general increasingly blends more with the internet the only limit is your own creativity and drive.

What's next for Jonas Vloggers?

For now the #quieroservlogger (#iwanttobeavlogger) contest. Beyond that we keep thinking of fun things and improving the quality of our channel, which is something that we continually work on.

#SeñorMaciste ¿Cómo surge Señor Maciste?

Empecé usando las redes como usuario “normal” que da la cara. Pero me parecía muy aburrido. Un día hice con papel una máscara de conejo y me la puse. Entonces me di cuenta de las posibilidades que daba para jugar con el morbo. Luego cambié a una máscara de cuero. Ese fue el primer Señor Maciste. Sin embargo, el conejo me parecía agresivo y de expresividad limitada. De manera inesperada, decidí ponerme una caja que tenía a la mano.

Me gustó mucho el efecto porque proyectaba la idea de un juego entre inocencia y morbo. ¿Cómo describes tu estilo?

Absurdo, sexual, desenfadado. ¿Qué es lo que más disfrutas al convertirte en Señor Maciste?

La interacción con las personas que me siguen. Se reconocen en Señor Maciste y proponen nuevas ideas.

También hay quienes lo detestan pero eso te aterriza. Creerte una celebridad o un líder de opinión sólo porque la gente te sigue, además de soberbio, es un engaño. Al ser gay, me permitió expresar mi punto de vista sobre temas LGBTTTI, investigar y reflexionar sobre ello. ¿De qué manera abordas temas de la diversidad sexual como Maciste?

El personaje se asume como homosexual con toda naturalidad. Mi postura ante temas LGBTTTI es que lo primero que debemos hacer es eliminar la homofobia dentro de la comunidad y aceptar la pluralidad de identidades, orientaciones, estilos de vida y modos de relacionarnos afectivamente. Si nos odiamos entre nosotros, contribuimos a que nos desprecien. También me enfoco en el pánico y rechazo que tenemos hacia nuestros cuerpos.

Hay una vigilancia continua sobre los mismos. Somos nuestros propios censores. Cuando censuras tu cuerpo, acotas tu libertad de expresión. ¿Consideras que tu material va más dirigido hacia alguna audiencia en específico?

Sí, a los hombres que tienen sexo con otros hombres sin importar su identidad sexual. ¿Cómo te ves en 5 años?

El ciclo de vida en redes es corto por lo que me gustaría crecer como marca para apoyar otros proyectos afines al mío. Tengo 41 años, lo que en el mundo LGBTTTI en redes se considera “viejo”, así que veo a Señor Maciste envejeciendo sin ningún temor a los cambios de su cuerpo y de su personalidad y hablando de ello.

Incluso he empezado a agregar arrugas a la caja y colocarlo en situaciones propias de mi edad.

¿Qué es lo siguiente para Señor Maciste?

Hacer fotografías con todo tipo de hombres con caja en la cabeza. Escribir textos más largos. Sin embargo, si notase que la caja ya dio de sí seguramente mataría a Señor Maciste.

How did you come up with Señor Maciste?

I started using social media as a "normal"user who shows his own face. But it seemed very boring. One day I made a bunny paper mask and put it on. Then I realized the possibilities it provided to play with curiosity. Then I switched to a leather mask. That was the first Señor Maciste. However, the bunny seemed aggressive and had limited expressions.

Unexpectedly, I decided to put on a box I had with me. I liked the effect it had because it projected the idea of a game between innocence and curiosity.

How would you describe your style?

Absurd, sexual, self-assured.

What you enjoy most when you become Señor Maciste?

The interaction with my followers. They see themselves in Señor Maciste and propose new ideas. There are also those who hate it but that keeps you grounded. To think you’re a celebrity or influencer only because you have followers, in addition to being egotistical, is a hoax. Being gay, it allowed me to express my point of view on LGBTTTI issues, delve into and reflect on it.

I also focus on panic and rejection we have for our bodies. There is a continuous surveillance over them. We are our own censors. When you censure your body, you narrow your freedom of expression.

Do you think that your material targets a specific audience?

Yes, men who have sex with other men regardless of their sexual identity.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

The life cycle is social media is short so I would like to grow as a brand to support other projects related to mine. I am 41 years old, something that in the LGBTTTI world in social media is considered "old", so I see Señor Maciste aging without fear of changes in his body and personality and talking about it.

I've even started adding wrinkles to the box and putting him in situations accordingly to my age.

What's next for Señor Maciste?

Taking pictures with all kinds of men with a box on their head. Write longer essays.

Los ojos, la boca, la nariz, la sonrisa. Todas las anteriores son las respuestas más comunes cuando se pregunta sobre lo primero que la gente nota sobre alguien más, aunque creo hace falta una que a muchos nos da pena admitir, y es la retaguardia.

Muchas veces notamos cómo anda alguien “por atrás”, y no podemos negar que además de ser un fuerte atractivo visual, es la base de un gran desempeño físico, si saben a qué me refiero.

Dicho esto, queda claro que no te puedes quedar atrás en conseguir esas pompas de acero y para ello, recopilé tres de los mejores ejercicios para lograrlo.

Spotlight on #Tequila & #Mezcal En México, ya seas local o estés de visita, a la gente le encanta tomar ocasionalmente. Y qué mejor manera de honrar esto que hablando de tequila y mezcal, dos de las bebidas más representativas de México. Decidimos entrevistar a Marlene del Olmo, Directora de Vinos para el Wine & Food Festival en México, para saber más sobre cada una de estas deliciosas bebidas. ¿Cuáles son las diferencias principales entre el tequila y el mezcal?

A pesar de que ambos son destilados de un estilo muy similar; partamos sabiendo que el tequila es un mezcal elaborado con una sola variedad de agave. En el caso del tequila, se puede utilizar únicamente la especie de agave Tequilana Weber Variedad Azul. Si hablamos del mezcal, este puede ser elaborado con hasta 14 diferentes especies e incluso en ocasiones pueden mezclarse entre sí. ¿Qué tipos de tequila existen? Y, ¿cómo se diferencian?

Existen 2 tipos de tequila: el Tequila 100% agave y el Tequila “a secas” que puede estar hecho con hasta 49% de azúcares de otros compuestos como remolacha o caña de azúcar. A su vez se clasifican en blanco, joven, reposado, añejo y extra añejo. Lo que los diferencia es el reposo o añejamiento que guardan en barricas después de su elaboración. ¿Considera que el tequila es la bebida ideal para representar a México a nivel internacional?

Considero que sí, es una bebida popular que en casi cualquier parte del mundo cuando se toma se piensa inmediatamente en México. Las personas que llegan a México no se van sin probarlo.

¿Qué factores son los más importantes a considerar al elegir un buen tequila?

Sin duda los mejores tequilas son los que están hechos de 100% agave. Esta es la manera de beberlo, en su estado más puro. ¿Cuál es la forma ideal de tomar tequila?

Como cualquier mexicano lo hace, lo ideal es tomarlo en un caballito o en una copa para destilado y tomarlo despacio para disfrutar de su color, de los aromas que nos pueda ofrecer y los sabores que pueda expresar.

Así como con el tequila, ¿existen diferentes tipos de mezcal?

Así es, existen 3 tipos de mezcal: blanco, reposado y añejo, que se diferencian de igual manera por su tiempo de reposo en barrica. ¿Por qué se ha vuelto tan popular el mezcal en los últimos años?

La gente está optando mucho por esta tendencia hacia lo artesanal, lo natural, y es aquí donde el mezcal encaja perfecto. ¿De qué manera hace homenaje el Wine & Food Festival a las bebidas y oferta gastronómica de México?

De muchas formas, creo que la expresión de las bebidas en cada uno de los diferentes eventos demuestra la extensa oferta gastronómica y las diferentes maneras de vivirlas y disfrutarlos en cada momento. ¿Cómo ha evolucionado el festival en los últimos años?

Es un Festival que se ha ido posicionando en el gusto de las personas que gustan del buen comer y del buen beber. El alcance del festival es cada vez más grande, además de Cancún y la Riviera Maya hoy en día se realiza en la Ciudad de México y por primera vez en la hermosa ciudad de San Miguel de Allende.

And what better way to honor this than by talking about Tequila and Mezcal, two of the most representative beverages in Mexico. We decided to interview Marlene del Olmo, Wine Director at the Wine & Food Festival in Mexico, to know more about each of these delicious drinks.

What are the main differences between tequila and mezcal?

Although both are distilled beverages of a very similar style; let’s start by knowing that tequila is a mezcal made from a single variety of agave. In the case of tequila, you can only use the type of agave Tequilana Weber Blue Variety. When it comes to mezcal, it can be made with up to 14 different types and at times they can even be mixed together.

What types of tequila are there? And how do they differ?

There are 2 types of tequila: Tequila 100% agave and p" lain"Tequila which can be made with up to 49% of sugars from other compounds such as beet or sugar cane. They are also divided into blanco (white), joven (young), reposado (rested), añejo (aged) and extra añejo (extra aged). What sets them apart is the type of resting or aging they go through once they’re stored in barrels after being processed.

Do you think that tequila is the ideal beverage to represent Mexico internationally?

I believe it is; it’s a popular beverage that, every time it’s drank almost anywhere in the world people immediately think of Mexico. People who visit Mexico don’t leave without trying it.

What are the most important factors to consider when choosing a good tequila?

Undoubtedly the best tequilas are those that are made from 100% agave. This is the way of drinking it, in its purest form.

What is the ideal way to drink tequila?

As any Mexican does, the best thing is to serve it in a shot glass or a tequila sipper and drink it slowly to enjoy its color, the aromas it can offer and the flavors it can express.

As with tequila, are there different types of mezcal?

That's right, there are 3 types of mezcal: blanco (white), reposado (rested) and añejo (aged), which are also distinguished by their resting time in the barrel.

Why has mescal become so popular in recent years?

People are opting a lot for this trend toward the artisanal, the natural, and this is where mezcal fits perfectly.

How does the Wine & Food Festival honor the cuisine and beverages of Mexico?

In many ways, I think the expression of the beverages in each of the different events shows the extensive range of cuisine and different ways of experiencing and enjoying it at all times.

How has the festival evolved in recent years?

It is a festival that has positioned itself in the taste of people who like good food and good drink. The scope of the festival is getting bigger, besides Cancun and Riviera Maya it is now being held in Mexico City, and for the first time in the beautiful city of San Miguel de Allende.

Nunca he sido una mujer de mundo y probablemente nunca lo sea… Y en lo que respecta a viajar puedo asegurarles que ni como concepto entiendo lo que es ser PRÁCTICA. ¿Cuántos malos ratos en salas y filas de espera infernales podría evitar de ser practica?

El infierno comienza en mi cabeza cuando pienso que toda mi ropa nueva, zapatos, accesorios y mis prendas favoritas tienen que entrar en mi maleta, ya sea que mi destino sea la casa de mi mamá por un mes o una semana en alguna playa en el Caribe Mexicano. A ustedes no puedo mentirles, la mayor parte del día estoy en bata holgada de algodón y por la noche salgo con algún slip dress. Y, por si fuera poco, los zapatos durante el día jamás me son necesarios… “I’m a free soul” (o quizás debería de dejar de ir tanto a la selva).

Así que como soy una persona que puede perderlo todo menos la esperanza, y eventualmente este artículo tiene que tener algún contenido de importancia para ustedes, confió en que juntos podamos responder a esta sencilla pregunta cuando estemos empacando: ¿Lo llevo?

Chaos starts to build in my head when I think that all my new clothes, shoes, accessories and my favorite outfits have to fit in my suitcase, whether my destination is my mother’s house for a month or a week on a beach in the Mexican Caribbean. I can’t lie to you, I spend most of the day in a loose cotton robe and at night I go out wearing a slip dress. And if that were not enough, during the day shoes are not a must for me... I'm a free soul (or perhaps I should stop going to the jungle so much).

So as I am a person who can lose everything but hope, and eventually this article has to have some content relevant to you, I trust that together we can answer this simple question when we’re packing: Should I take it with me?
