International Programs

Volunteerism in Health Care

Literature & Medicine Track

Approximately 40% of students choose to complete 4 weeks of elective time through Georgetown’s International Programs. These programs provide participants with an understanding of health care policies and experience in medical care-delivery in a developing-nation setting. Participants have visited approximately 22 countries in the past five years.

Responding to the needs in our community, all students must complete a community service requirement during their time at Georgetown.

This track is designed for students interested in engaging the intersection of literature, narrative studies, medical narratives, and medicine. The aim of this track is to cultivate a habit of self-reflection and to explore human and medical themes through the lens of various contemporary texts.
