This village has a multiethnic population and is old and well settled in character HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This site is associated with great primeval heritage of Indian Culture at prodigious epochs of History In Kruta Yuga, This was the place where Shri Prahalada, Son of Hiranya Kahsyapa performed Mahayajna, In Treta Yuga, This was the same place where Arjuna fought Anusalava while performing Ashwamedha Yajna At this inordinate site Shri Raghavendra Swamy, the sage who wrote Tantradipika, Bhavadipa, Nyaya Sudha Parimala, Mantramanjari and Bhatta Sangraha had attained Jeeva Samadhi in 1671.

As per CENSUS 2011Class IV town (10,000 19,999) As per URDPFI 2014 Small Town I (5,000 20,000) NH 167 runs through the town and APSRTC(64) , KSRTC(62), TSRTC (6) bus services are frequent from Adoni (53 km), Yemmiganur(24 km), Kurnool(100 km) in Andhra Pradesh and from Raichur(35 km) and Bellary(120 km) in Karnataka.
