4 Letter from the presidentw This month of July, one big thing I look forward to oh-so-very-much is our inter-club event with Del Sol: Summer Day of Service! At this event, we will be cleaning up the rather small Fox Ridge Park (SERVICE), pie-ing select officers including myself (FUNDRAISER), and jamming some music with some fellow Del Sol Key Clubbers while eating FREE food provided by your clubs (SOCIAL)! Del Sol Key Club President Chris Lolong and I have been planning this event since the beginning of our term and cannot be happier about the event approval. We also cannot wait to see all of you guys there! It's going to be so much fun--don't miss out on this event which will occur on Friday, July 26th, from 4PM to 7PM at Fox Ridge Park, right by our school! Oh, and bring a few bucks too, if you'd like to pie some of our or Del Sol's officers ($1 per plate) while benefiting The Eliminate Project at the same time--yes, this is a fundraiser for service! How fabulous is this event! Moving on, as much as summer vacation is halfway over (sorry for the reminder!), the board members and I will be planning many things for the upcoming season for you guys. The following is a list of a few things that we look forward to this fall: - Freshman orientation - Various fundraisers (undercover for now, but to be revealed soon-stay tuned!) - MORE inter-club events - And, of course: Region 5 Training Conference (RTC)! I hope you are as excited as I am for these big upcoming events. We will see you guys at general meetings once school starts. I can already feel the good vibes: this is going to be an awesome year for us Key Clubbers--yay!

5 Old Business with the president 6/29-7/2: Independence Day Fireworks Booth

Ji Eun Bae: On Tuesday, July 2nd, I went to volunteer at the Fireworks stand on Windmill and Durango with my friend Jerry Fonseca. The stand was set up as a fundraiser to benefit the Kiwanis club of Las Vegas Strip, and although it wasn't our own Kiwanis sponsor, it still felt good to help out a neighboring Kiwanis club and its sponsored Key Clubs. When Jerry and I first got there, Mrs. Wong, Clark Key Club's faculty advisor, gave us a thorough orientation, describing each product and explaining each step to making a sale. It wasn't as busy as we thought it would be; it turns out that most people buy their fireworks on the 3rd and the 4th. So Jerry and I just chilled in the shade with the huge fan on, until Clark Key Club's secretary Sheldon came as a volunteer. His house is close and he had been volunteering for days straight. Jerry, Sheldon, and I had fun talking and talking, among ourselves and also with other Kiwanians that were volunteering there, until we got our first customer who, with his two young kids, spent $126! It felt good to think that those $126 will help out a Kiwanis club. Overall, it was a fun event, and I was surprised that it wasn't as hot and heated as I thought it would be. Meeting a Key Clubber of another school outside of a big event such as Region Training Conference (RTC) or District Convention (DCON) was also an experience I didn't expect but absolutely loved! We all may get lazy over the summer with the despicable Vegas heat and all, but this fun event was definitely worth going.

6 Old business (cont)! ARTICL

Jerry Fonseca: During fourth of July week, my and our key club president JiEun Bae went to go help out at the fireweorks stand for our Kiwanis family! It was quite a long drive, but it was so worth it! We got to learn about all the different types of fireworks made and sold (so many) and we even met a fellow key clubber from a different school!! We only got one customer in the end, nut it was really fun trying to survive the heat together! If this wasn't my last year in key club, I would TOTALLY do it again next year! It was a pretty great service experience.

8 Question Of The Month ! How are you spending your summer? Ji Eun Bae: “It is fair enough to note that, as an upcoming senior (wow, already? Time flies!), I should be spending this summer studying for standardized tests. This summer is extremely valuable to me time-wise and I ought to spend every day productively before I start on college applications (oh, the stress!). But aside from that thought, I'm really spending the majority of my time relaxing, catching up with my friends, and having fun overall! It's like relieving all the stress from the previous school year! To be honest, I'm loving the summertime and don't want school to start. But on the other hand, the thought of Key Club makes me excited for school. How are YOU spending your summer? Angelina Howell: “I am spending my summer out of town visiting family. I have also been working on online summer school. Key club events, service, and socials is how I plan to spend the remainder of summer”.

9 Nia Fernandez: I've spent my Summer in Arizona and California, visiting family, having dance competitions, and babysitting. I've had a few outside hour opportunities because I haven't been able to attend the planned events you have. I miss my Key Clubbers!
