This was a key factor in Krombacher’s decision to seek a solution from Gebrßder Weiss. In Passau, the logistics experts established an exclusive block storage warehouse for Krombacher. Schweppes and other drinks sold by the Krombacher Group are transported from here to clients across Austria using the existing road transport network. It is a refreshing solution that both frees clients from the workload risk associated with transport and ensures a more flexible delivery to the recipient.

THE CHALLENGE Krombacher needed a logistics partner that could transport Schweppes and other soft drinks sold by Krombacher to its clients across Austria. Transport processes needed to be more efficient and flexible and minimize the workload risk. The challenge: ● setting up a warehouse in a convenient location for daily distribution across Austria ● expanding direct transports from two to five times a week, mainly from Germany ● maximising truck utilization rates on return journeys ● setting up digital interfaces to exchange product and warehouse data as well as shipment statuses ● optimizing warehouse and transport processes ● enabling flexible delivery options from Germany to the food supply chain and drinks wholesalers in Austria

THE SOLUTION Gebrüder Weiss sets up a warehouse in Passau exclusively for Krombacher. In addition to warehouse logistics, Gebrüder Weiss also provides distribution across Austria. Summary of services: ● block storage warehouse with approx. 1000 sqm of storage space and employees solely dedicated to Krombacher ● daily transports from Passau to around 150 drinks wholesalers and food supply chains across Austria ● transport volume: around 20,000 pallets per year ● delivery time of only 24 hours ● > 90 per cent of products are distributed directly (GW direct.line), the remainder is sent using groupage freight shipping ● empty containers are transported from Austria to the Passau warehouse ● direct link to Gebrüder Weiss’ digital warehouse management system

Low capacity utilization risk The logistics expert skilfully bundles cargo, reducing the workload and providing quick, efficient transports during peak times. This takes the burden off the client, allowing it to focus on its core processes.
Intelligent software – leaner management Linking the client to Gebrüder Weiss’ warehouse management system simplifies and speeds up processes and removes the need for timeconsuming employee training. The scanner in the block storage warehouse, using its software, recognizes that the pallet at the front belongs to that batch. This enables every single pallet to be tracked continuously on its journey from being logged into the warehouse through to being delivered.
