CUSTOMIZED LOGISTICS FOR SANITARY TECHNOLOGY Production logistics

Geberit tasked GebrĂźder Weiss (GW) with managing and handling the production of the AquaClean shower toilet product line. The long-standing customer benefits from a tailored Kanban solution that rules out any production stoppages.

The company headquartered in Jona (Switzerland) has around 12,000 employees in 42 countries along with over 17 production locations.


THE CHALLENGE


THE CHALLENGE With the decision to manufacture products internally again instead of externally, Geberit was facing a logistical challenge. The procurement process had to be completely overhauled. The challenge: ● Delivering quantities of material in a highly frequent, quick, and timely way ● A wide range of products that require different handling (500 different components and individual parts from around 70 manufacturers) ● Reliable IT solution

● Willingness to undertake interdisciplinary cooperation


THE SOLUTION


THE SOLUTION Gebrüder Weiss (GW) developed a customized solution for Geberit comprising a Kanban system and optimized warehouse logistics. The services at a glance: ● Kanban system: highly flexible special solution that sees logistics as an integral part of the production system.

● The components and individual parts are actually picked and labelled before being stored. ● Individually adjusted warehouse logistics focusing on containers defined by Geberit. ● Order consolidation and presorting of the goods ● Quick and timely delivery

THE BENEFITS Low warehouse inventories Goods are supplied on demand and high stock levels in the Geberit supermarket avoided. If production increases, GW also increases the frequency of transports.

Efficient order handling The consistent flow of material and information along the supply chain ensures that orders are processed quickly and rapidly pass through the Kanban system.

Process-oriented IT solution Specially developed labels are produced via the Kanban solution, which contain information about the storage place in the Geberit supermarket. This reduces planning and management work.
