endlich, Weihnachten steht vor der Tür! Wir können wieder nach Herzenslust dekorieren und all die Dinge tun, die im Laufe des Jahres irgendwie immer zu kurz kommen. Spontan ein paar Freunde auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt treffen, viele Kerzen anzünden, vielleicht sogar mal wieder einen handgeschriebenen Gruß verschicken. Die Stimmung genießen, wenn Plätzchenduft durchs Haus zieht. Zwar ist der Dezember immer gut gefüllt mit Terminen und bis zum Jahresende hätte man gern alle wichtigen Projekte vom Tisch. Zweimal im Jahr öffnet Halbach die Türen des Ausstel lungshauses. Viele Gäste nutzen die Gelegenheit, um ganz exklusiv die Trends der nächsten Saison zu ent decken. Das ist sonst nur Fachpublikum vorbehalten. Das was im First Look in Auszügen gezeigt wird, kön nen die Besucher dort inszeniert erleben. Zusätzlich gibt es immer ein kleines Rahmenprogramm: Gastaus steller präsentieren ihre Produkte und frische Waffeln aus der Halbach-Backstube verführen zum Genießen. Natürlich für einen guten Zweck: Der Erlös wird groß zügig aufgerundet und kommt bedürftigen Menschen zugute. Wie zuletzt der Aktion Lichtblicke, die sich der Hilfe für finanziell und seelisch in Not geratene Familien in Nordrhein-Westfalen verschrieben hat.
Wie kommt das Muster auf den Stoff? Neben den klassischen Druckverfahren ist der Digitaldruck eine attraktive Möglichkeit. Vor allem Fotomotive werden mit diesem Verfahren auf Textilien übertragen. Damit das realistisch wirkt, braucht man ein breites Farbspektrum und feine Farbabstufungen. Die werden erzielt, weil die zur Verfügung stehenden Farben während des Druckvorgangs direkt auf dem Textilgrund gemischt werden. Moderne Dru cker arbeiten in der Regel mit sechs oder mehr Farben. Die Ergebnisse sind besonders brillant und überzeugen durch eine gute Waschbe ständigkeit. Man braucht – anders als bei analogen Verfahren – keine Schablonen für die Muster. Das macht den Digitaldruck sehr flexibel. Deshalb lassen sich viele verschie dene Motive drucken und auch Kleinserien schnell und wirtschaftlich realisieren.
Twice a year Halbach opens the doors to its showroom. Numerous guests take the opportunity to have an exclusive look at the trends of the coming season. This is usually reserved for the trade public. Products that are shown in brief form in First Look can be experienced firsthand in the showroom. In addition, there is always a small support programme: guest exhibitors present their products and fresh waffles from the Halbach bakery are served. For a good cause, naturally: the proceeds are generously rounded off and used to help needy people. Most recently this was Aktion Lichtblicke, which is dedicated to aiding families in financial and emotional need in the state of North RhineWestphalia.

How does the pattern get onto the fabric? In addition to classical printing processes, digital printing offers an attractive alternative. Photo motifs in particular are transferred to textiles using this process. To enable a realistic end result a broad range of colours and fine colour gradients are required. These are achieved by the available dyes being mixed directly on the textile surface during the printing process. Modern printers typically work with six or more colours. The results are especially brilliant and offer good washing resistance. In contrast to analogue processes, no templates are required for the patterns. This makes the digital printing highly flexible. It is possible to print numerous different motifs as well as small series quickly and economically.

Auf der Terrasse steht der festlich geschmückte Baum, im Haus werden viele Kerzen angezündet. Perfekt, um entspannt die Füße hochzulegen. Sie liebt es klassisch in Rot und Gold, lässt sich aber gern von aktuellen Trends inspirieren. In der Weihnachtskiste ist man jedenfalls offen für Neuzugänge.

She finds the experience of enjoying the mood and flair without the hectic pace found at the weekend simply wonderful. Each year she heads to a different destination. The market in Münster and the Lichterwochen in Essen are amongst her favourites. Talking of light: when Cornelia Rippel arrives home the ambience is at least equally festive! On the terrace stands a decorated tree, numerous candles are lit in the house. Perfect for putting her feet up in comfort. Für den Teig: 375 g Butter, 175 g Zucker, 6 Eier, 375 g Mehl, 1 Päckchen Back pulver, 1 Prise Salz. 5 Eier trennen, die Eiweiße zu Schnee schlagen. Butter und Zucker dickcremig schlagen , das Ei und die Eigelbe nacheinander unterrühren. Meh l, Backpulver, Salz ver mengen und untermischen. Den Eischnee unterheben. 125 g gehobelte Mandeln mit 1 Esslöffel Zucker und ½ Teelöffel Zimt mischen. Eine Springform (oder mehrere) mit Backpapier ausl egen, Teig dünn einfüllen, mit Zucker-Mandel-Mischung bestreuen. Auf diese Weise fünf bis sieben Böden nacheina nder 10 bis 12 Minuten bei 180° C abbacken, am besten zwei Tage vor Verzehr. 600 ml Sahne und 1 Prise Van illepulver steif schlagen. Böden und Sahne abwechselnd zur Torte aufschichten, einen Tag durchziehen lassen. For the mixture: 375 g butter, 175 g sugar, 6 eggs, 375 g flour, 1 packet of baking powder, 1 pinch of salt. Separate 5 eggs, beat the whites until stiff. Whip the butter and suga r until a thick cream, stir in the egg yolks. Blend in the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in the beate n egg whites. Mix 125 g grated almonds with 1 tablespoon of suga r and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Line one spring form (or more) tin with baking paper, add the mixtu re thinly, sprinkle with a mixture of suga r and almonds. In this way bake five to seven bases one after anoth er for 10 to 12 minutes at 180° C, ideally two days before consumpt ion. Beat 600 ml cream and 1 pinch of vanilla powder until stiff. Crea te a torte from alternating layers of base and cream, leave to draw for one day.

WINTERLICHT WINTER LIGHT Jetzt wird’s gemütlich! Kerzenschein gehört zur Adventszeit wie Plätzchen backen, Nüsse knacken und Glühwein trinken. Im Trend liegen kontrast reiche Materialkombinationen. Deshalb haben sich fürs Windlicht feines Tüllband mit Glitter, Juteband mit Pailletten und meliertes Band mit Lurexfäden zusammengetan. Gemeinsam mit Zapfen und Holz stern besticht das Trio mit Transparenz, Glanz und leicht rauem Charme – für zarte Lichtspiele, die Herz und Auge erfreuen.
FÜR JEDEN PLATZ A SETTING FOR EVERY PLACE Wer lädt in diesem Jahr zum Weihnachtsschmaus? Wenn liebe Gäste kommen, wird natürlich der Tisch edel gedeckt: Das feine Tafelkleid wird rausgeholt und jedem Gast der richtige Platz zugewiesen. Stilecht gelingt das mit kleinen Sternen aus lufttrocknender Modelliermasse. Der Clou dabei: Spitze kommt hier als textiler Abdruck zum Einsatz. Bänder anknoten, die Namen auf einen Papierstreifen schreiben – fertig ist der Sternenschmuck für jeden Platz.

OH TANNENBAUM OH CHRISTMAS TREE Kein Fest ohne Baum! Dass wir ihn schmücken, hat bereits vorchristliche Ursprünge. Immergrüne Pflan zen wie Fichte, Ilex oder Efeu symbolisierten Lebenskraft. Ins Haus geholt, machten die Zweige im Winter Hoffnung auf den Frühling. Später im Mittelalter wurden zu festlichen Anlässen ganze Bäume geschmückt – zum Weihnachtsspiel der Paradiesbaum. Weil es im Winter keine tragenden Apfelbäume gibt, nahm man eine Tanne und hängte Früchte daran. Daraus entwickelte sich der Brauch des Gabenbaumes, den die Bäckerzunft aufstellte. Den Schmuck aus Nüssen, Datteln und Brezeln durften die Kinder am Neujahrstag abschütteln. Im Laufe der Zeit zog der Tannenbaum ins Haus.
