Recent happenings at Villa Dalmacia
Our recent activity schedule has been a busy one, filled with some wonderful activities that have been so well received, we may have to make them regular features!
The warmer weather has presented some great opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities, with some regular outings to Manning Park providing the perfect backdrop for a picnic lunch Our attendees also enjoyed an excursion to the iconic Cicerello’s in Fremantle, where a delicious lunch of fish and chips was followed by a relaxing walk in the sun
We were delighted to be able to bring our pre-kindy children back to the centre for a series of activities with our attendees It’s been heartwarming to watch the children become more comfortable with our attendees, fostering beautiful intergenerational friendships between the two groups
Christmas activities and crafts were also a hit, with attendees creating wooden snowman figurines to take home and decorate their Christmas trees A decadent Christmas lunch was held last week, complete with Christmas pudding
Christmas Closure Dates
A friendly reminder that the Day Centre will be closed from 19th December through to 10th January, re-opening on Monday 13th January 2025
Mass at the Villa
The final mass for the year was recently held at the Day Centre, with Father Giancarlo leading the service Everyone was delighted to receive a thoughtful Christmas gift from Father Giancarlo a gorgeous tree decoration
Vanessa Raspa enchants with performance
We had the huge pleasure of recently welcoming renowned Italian singer, Vanessa Raspa, to our day centre. Vanessa serenaded our attendees with her beautiful voice, delighting everyone with a selection of classic Italian songs
Her performance lit up the room and her joyful voice and nostalgic tunes brought a smile to everyone’s faces It was a truly special and unforgettable experience for all and we hope to welcome Vanessa back to the centre for an encore performance!
Movember celebrated with BBQ lunch
Villa Dalmacia Day Centre marked the importance of ‘Movember’, with a themed day of fun and activities Our moustache-clad staff members kicked off the morning with some 'Chair Zumba', and a delicious barbeque lunch was enjoyed by all
Movember is an important yearly event focusing on men's health issues such as prostate cancer and testicular cancer, as well as men's suicide
Christmas spirit in full swing
The Christmas spirit was alive and well, thanks to our wonderful client, Mr Dilena, who brought gifts for fellow attendees, delicious cakes, and even arranged for a singer to entertain everyone!
We truly appreciate Mr Dilena's generous contribution and thoughtfulness in making our Day Centre’s celebration even more special
Staff Profile Highlight: Delfina De Aguiar
One of the standout features of the Villa Dalmacia Day Centre is the delicious meals served to our attendees We’re excited to introduce our talented in-house cook, Delfina, affectionately known as Del.
Del, of Portuguese descent, arrived in Australia in 1971 and has been part of the Villa Dalmacia team for 11 years She initially began as a carer in the nearby residential facility before finding her passion for cooking
A naturally skilled cook, Del learned her craft from her mother and friends from diverse cultural backgrounds Her favourite dishes to prepare for our guests include roast pork, hearty stews,
and Italian favourites like pasta and Sicilian arancini Del takes pride in catering to a variety of tastes and often checks with attendees about their preferences and cultural backgrounds to ensure she meets their specific needs
Del’s greatest reward is receiving compliments on her cooking. She has observed that some of the men who attend the centre are widowers who may not have the opportunity to cook for themselves It brings her great joy to provide them with a comforting, home-cooked meal
Picnics at the Park
Our Day Centre attendees have been taking full advantage of the warmer weather with a series of outings to the nearby Manning Park
Everyone enjoyed picnic lunches featuring delicious sandwiches and donuts, and for those who wished to, enjoyed the chance to take a stroll through the park's beautiful natural surroundings
There were plenty of laughs and lively conversations, making each outing truly special!
