Australia’s biggest expo on all things ageing was once again held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in August. White Oak was proud to exhibit along with Karingal Green, part of Hall & Prior.
This popular expo is a great resource for families and their older relatives to make informed decisions about aged care It was a bustling few days, with many visitors exploring the range of home care options and services we offer. Thank you to all who contributed to making the weekend a success.

AGED CARE EMPLOYEE DAY FIRE WARDEN TRAINING
It was all hands on deck as our HCP team had their annual Fire Warden Training. Staff had the chance to tackle real-life fire extinguishing scenarios, ensuring their emergency response knowledge remains current.
Aged Care Employee Day was celebrated on the 7th August, a very important day in our industry that recognises the efforts of our amazing Support Workers, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Admin Staff. Every day, you make a huge difference in the lives of our clients and their families through the important job you do. The relationships you have with those you support are very special and the difference you make to the lives of our clients and their families is immeasurable.
To our brilliant team at White Oak, we thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the difference you make every single day.

RUOKDay
Thursday, September 12th will be observed as R U OK Day, an annual event focused on acknowledging mental health challenges faced by our family, friends, and colleagues
This year’s theme is “Ask R U OK, Any Day”, which highlights that although the 12th September is our National Day of Action, it’s crucial to check in on people throughout the year because a simple conversation can make a significant difference.
Starting such a conversation can be difficult and we can often assume that people may be going through just a bit of a rough patch. Sometimes reaching out and just letting that person know you’re here for them, can be the pivotal step in potentially saving someone’s life.
FAREWELL PRUE
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Prue Burrows, our CHSP Coordinator Prue joined White Oak as a Support Worker in 2019 and quickly made a significant impact on her clients. She transitioned to the Support Services Officer role in late 2021, before taking on the CHSP Coordinator position. We will deeply miss Prue’s positive attitude, warm personality, and compassionate nature We wish you all the best, Prue.
In the meantime, congratulations to Maria Hughes, who will be stepping into the CHSP Coordinator role. Like Prue, Maria began her journey with White Oak as a Support Worker and later moved into an administrative role at our Joondalup hub. Well done on your new role, Maria!
