A Tribute to Our Founder, Mary Lonergan
At White Oak, we owe our very foundation to an extraordinary woman Mary, our founder, mentor, and inspiration behind everything we do
Mary was a force to be reckoned with strong, resilient, and always ready to stand up for what was right. Born in Ireland and making Australia her home in 1987, she dedicated her career to caring for others As a Director of Nursing, she saw the gaps in aged care and, determined to make a difference, she founded White Oak in 1998. With passion, intelligence, and a fierce dedication to quality care, she grew the business from a small office in Shenton Park into the thriving company we know today.
Mary wasn’t just a business owner she was a trailblazer in the aged care industry. Her relentless advocacy and willingness to fight through red tape changed lives and earned her respect across the sector She was both firm and fair always going above and beyond for her staff and clients alike For those who worked closely with her, we all knew that when she wore her navy tights, it was time to get serious!
Mary’s impact on White Oak and the aged care community is truly immeasurable. Even in her final years, she was surrounded by the team she had built a group of people who cared for her just as much as she had cared for them.
Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Treasa and Marianne, who both work at White Oak today, continuing their mother’s work with the same passion and dedication.
We are forever grateful to Mary for her vision, her leadership, and the love she poured into everything she did. She has left this world better than she found it, and every day we’ll carry on her legacy.
Rest in peace, Mary. You will always be a part of the White Oak family.
