Welcompeshire Food Festival to the Ham

The Hampshire Food Festival brings the opportunity to explore the very best of the county’s food and drink. You’re invited to go behind the scenes of local vineyards and farms, feast on fine Hampshire produce, discover how craft ale and gin are made and learn new skills in the kitchen. Having lived in Hampshire myself for over twenty years I have become a big advocate of Hampshire produce. In fact, I am so proud of what we have here I featured many of the producers in my BBC Home Comforts series. There is an array of flavour on our doorstep including award-winning cheese, quality meats, wine, fish, vegetables, ale and charcuterie. Learning to cook seasonally with ingredients available locally can really change the way you plan food. I am passionate about sharing my culinary experience and inspiring people in the kitchen. I’m excited to be returning to Chewton Glen Hotel in the New Forest where I learnt so much in the kitchen. We have recently launched The Kitchen cookery school with a fantastic line up of courses including seasonal dinner parties, seafood, baking as well as private dining with myself and other guest chefs. The festival organisers, Hampshire Fare, do a fantastic job of supporting the county’s local producers. The festival is a chance to celebrate with them all that is going on in Hampshire’s thriving local food scene. So, my advice is to study the pages of this programme and plan your July around Hampshire’s tasty offering.

Explore our Flavoursome County! Wander through vines, meet the buffalo, dine on the farm, delve into the world of craft gin and learn the art of charcuterie-making. All this and a whole lot more is happening across the county as part of July’s month-long Hampshire Food Festival. The award-winning Hampshire Food Festival is now in its seventeenth year. Popular with residents and visitors to the county, the month-long festival is a chance to explore what goes on behind the scenes to grow, rear and serve some of the county’s tastiest produce.

about his love for Hampshire in our foreword (page 3). Hampshire resident and MasterChef Champion 2016, Jane Devonshire and fellow contestant Juanita Hennessey, are also Hampshire enthusiasts and will be using local ingredients as the inspiration for two food festival events.

At Hampshire Fare, we are honoured to work all year round with people who are dedicated to the county’s local food scene. We are not the only supporters of Hampshire’s food and farming. Other fans include James Martin who talks

Dining in The Kitchen means indulging on beef from the rolling pastures of the Jurassic Coast, choosing exquisite shellfish from Bournemouth based fish supplier the Hutchings Brothers and delighting in decadent ice creams from Laverstoke Park Farm. As much as we adore our local suppliers, we’re so dedicated to ensuring that every taste you enjoy is as locally sourced as it can possibly be, so if we can grow it in the neighbouring garden or Alitex greenhouse, that’s where it’s been picked from! To feel truly immersed and inspired by what our local produce has to offer, join us for a ‘Found & Foraged’ cookery course and learn how to take fruits from nature to the jam jar. Explore with local forager & founder of ‘Naked Jam’ Jen Williams and learn how to celebrate produce on our doorstep just as she does.
