SUPPORTING THE COUNTRYSIDE Taking place on 26th, 27th & 28th July, the theme for this year’s New Forest and Hampshire County Show is ‘Supporting the Countryside’. The theme will be embraced by all sections of the Show, creating lots of exciting opportunities to get involved and learn about the country way of life from those who know it best. Join us for three jam-packed days of agricultural fun and entertainment for all the family. History of the Show The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is run by a charity – the New Forest Agricultural Show Society which was founded in 1920. The aim of society is the holding of an annual Show to promote and encourage the development of agriculture, forestry, equestrianism and horticulture and encourage the breeding of livestock. The first Show took place in 1921 as a small one day event. In the decades that have followed, the Show has grown considerably and is not ranked amongst the top ten agricultural Shows in the Country. The Society is assisted in the running of the Show by more than 500 volunteers who give their time freely to support the Show, without whom the Show would not be where it is today. Take a look at some of the attractions to look forward to at the 2016 New Forest and Hampshire County Show.

Metropolitan Police Activity Ride The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is delighted to be welcoming the world famous Metropolitan Police Activity Ride to the Show for the first time. The fast moving, dynamic display will entertain crowds twice a day in the main ring. Each performance demonstrates the fantastic skills of mounted officers and the incredible training of the horses. The Activity Ride demonstrates a high level of skill and agility from both horse and rider. Inch perfect timing, total commitment, professionalism and complete trust are required as horses jump through fire, papers

walls and complete fast crossovers. Make sure you don’t miss the Metropolitan Police perform their exciting Activity Ride.

Main Ring Attractions In addition to the Activity ride there is a wonderful schedule of main ring attraction to keep visitors entertained throughout the day. There will be a Guinness World Record attempt taking place in the main ring each day. Visitors are required to be take part in the exciting record attempts each day and to help break the record for the ‘Most Wellington Boots Thrown Simultaneously’. Wellies will be kindly supplied by Joules for all participants to use to take part in each attempt. Don’t miss watching the Heavy Horse Musical Drive where you will witness a breath-taking spectacle of heavy horse pairs in harness parading around the ring choreographed to music. (The Musical Drive takes place in the Main Ring each day of the Show). Another extravaganza not to be missed is the Supreme Harness Championship on the Thursday of the Show which takes place in the Hoburne Ring. Each qualifying turnout gives an individual show whilst driving to music of their choice. It is a real opportunity for each competitor to show off their skills and the public get very enthusiastic and encourage their own particular favourites! A panel of judges marks each turnout with a number (similar to ice-skating competitions) while the crowd cheer along! The ever popular International Show Jumping and The Grand Parade of Livestock will also be returning to entertain the crowds.

Proudly brought to you by Hampshire Fare The Hampshire Food Festival is an annual event created and organised by the county’s local food group, Hampshire Fare. We are a small but dynamic not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Hampshire’s local food and farming communities. This year Hampshire Fare is celebrating 25 years having been set up in 1991 by just a handful of farmers. We now work closely with around 400 members to spread the word about local food. The good news is that if you grow, make, sell, serve or support local produce then you can benefit from all that Hampshire Fare has to offer. Joining Hampshire Fare is a chance to engage with the local food industry and to receive professional PR, marketing and business support. Find out how Hampshire Fare can benefit your business by contacting Belinda Fordham, Belinda.fordham@hampshirefare.co.uk or call 02380 733830. Visit hampshirefare.co.uk, follow @hampshirefare on Twitter and like facebook.com/hampshirefare/
