Texas-Oklahoma

By - Member, Hong An Pham-James Bowie High School Division 39 S Upon my enrollment in high school, one of the most persistent pieces of advice I received was to make sure I joined clubs. Key Club is one of the most notable clubs in my school and I have made an effort to join since my freshman year. With Key Club being a student run organization filled with volunteer opportunities, it has presented itself as an amazing opportunity to gain experience as a leader and in the community. Being based upon acts of service, each member, including myself, can confidently say they understand the importance of sacrifice. Despite the amount of time each event takes to host, it is done to spread positivity through aiding others. While some events are done through larger scale charity organizations, it is also crucial to take care of the school we exist in. The students of Key Club have never failed to participate in decorating the school and hosting events for families to join. Something as small as putting decorations up for homecoming brings a sense of reassurance to all the students as they walk into the building. Also being able to participate in food drives and collecting donations, knowing that you are able to help someone else. This brings a sense of community that Key Club have founded their legacy on. Whether it be at the school, or a drive downtown, Key Club has given me various opportunities to give back to my community and will continue to influence more generations into being something bigger than themselves.

PANCAKE

Breakfast

This month of February we worked with Kiwanis to hold their annual Pancake Breakfast! From 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. our volunteers worked together to help serve our community! Thank you to every member who volunteered to bring our community together! We got to see new and old faces at this fun event. It was unfortunate that we couldn't hold this event last year, so this year was a special one. We all had a blast seeing everyone out there having fun volunteering for our community. Can't wait for this event to come around again. We hope to see you guys at this event next year and the upcoming events coming up in the month of March!
