By - Member, Evans Ndungu- James Bowie High School Division 39 S To start, Key club, like any other club, allows for any student to give back to the community. Moreover, there aren’t any requirements to join Key Club. So if there is someone that has bad grades but still wants to give back to the community, they still can. This positive is great against clubs like NHS, where they selectively select students. Furthermore, Key Club gives students the chance to be with their friends. Sometimes during the school day, kids don’t have the same classes with each other or have enough time to be with their friends. Key Club gives you several hour opportunities to interact with your friends. If you don’t have friends, you can have the chance to make some with the club opportunities. Speaking of people, Key Club has students from different types of cultures and backgrounds. Because of this, students can become more open-minded about certain things, allowing us to better understand each other. With Key Club, you also develop many soft skills such as time management, teamwork, communication, etc. And from these skills, leaders are made. Even though serving the community is important, having fun is also important. Key Club has socials where students take time out of their day like regular community service, but instead, we do things like pumpkin carving or playing board/video games. This allows us to have fun while earning hour opportunities. A great incentive for both the club and the members. I love Key Club for their community activities such as food and clothing drives, seasonal events for our school, trash pick up, volunteering at different places such as Mission Arlington, etc. Overall, Key Club is a great club for those wishing to find a way to volunteer and give back to the community while making great memories with their friends and colleagues.

MESSAGE FROM

the President

Hey Bowie Key Club! I really can’t believe that this semester is coming to a wrap. I’m so proud of how much you guys have accomplished during these past three months! We’ve embellished our school, worked a booth at a retirement home, cleaned up a park, packaged supplies to orphans, and attended socials. You guys have provided service multiple times, and I hope you guys are proud of yourselves for that. Although Thanksgiving has already passed, know that I am thankful for you guys everyday for participating in helping the community. Well this is all I have to say for now. Stay safe over the holidays, see you guys next semester, and prepare for Kim Taehyung’s birthday <3
