I am not wearing an eyeshadow that clashes with the lip. Instead I have used a shade that helps to frame the socket and create depth. I have applied lots of mascara to help to frame the eye and add balance to the face.

If you aren’t sure what blusher shade to use, you can cheat by using a tiny bit of the lipstick colour. Lightly apply this to the cheeks and you will ensure you have the right tone.

A red lip always makes me feel confident. As with everything, it largely comes down to whether you are cool or warm toned (see page 28). As a general underlying rule, when we are talking about red lips, shades with a blue undertone or that skew pinky are best for cools and those with a orange base are best for warms. Look to pages 40–45 for possible lip, cheek and eye combinations.
