Editor’s Notes: A warm December welcome to all. Warm, that is if you happen to be hashing in Southeast Asia. This issue begins at a coastal resort town in the Philippines, about 7 hours by road north of Manila, where the La Union Hash House Harriers celebrate 30 years of hashing. Plenty of San Miguel Beer...of course, and proof positive that it is definitely “more fun in the Philippines.” November marked the first Mekong Indochina Hash held in Kunming, China. Read all about this journey through the hills of Yunnan provence, and news of the next IMH to be held in Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2014. A traveling Aussie hashman heads to “God’s Own Country” in Kerala, India with Lord Krishna and his faithful throng of hash devotees.

Meanwhile, back in the US of A, a hashman with a penchant for punishment runs 2,800 miles coast to coast not once, but then a second time in the name of charity. With more than 100 great HHH and running events in this edition, it is time to start making plans to hash close to home, or just about anywhere on the planet in 2014. The Harrier Magazine Team in Asia, America and Europe looks forward to seeing you on trail soon. Happy hashing!

La Union Hash House Harriers By Edgar “Laces” O’Neill

30

years ago the hash was established in La Union, a province in North West Philippines, at a coastal resort area where many foreign residents reside. This October many hashers from all over congregated at La Union for our 30th anniversary and enjoyed a long weekend of hashing and imbibing, culminating in the usual ‘recovery’ or ‘hungover’ run on Sunday morning . It was fitting that many of the participants came from the Angeles hash - members of this hash were instrumental in establishing La Union hash. But POM hash – Port Moresby Hash – can also lay claim to be our mother hash because some of our original Angeles founders also had links with the POM hash. So we have a pretty sound hash pedigree. Although not the biggest hash in the Philippines, we are capable of providing some of the most challenging and varied runs and hikes, being blessed with perfect trekking

ne of the great ways to promote your hash event is to attend another one and have a stall featuring all the proposed Stash that is to be included for the run fee. Value for money is in the Book Of Commandments for hashing travelers worldwide, is it not?! So it was “Roomboy” and “H.E.I.D.E” plying their wares at the All China Nash Hash in Shanghai in September, showing what was to be on offer for the 15th Indochina Mekong Hash, hosted by Kunming Spring City H3, early in November.
