Editor’s Notes: Happy Valentine’s Day to all harriers and harriettes! If Cupid’s arrows find you smitten in Panama City, Florida, Honolulu, Hawaii or Baguio, Philippines, you can expect more than flowers and candy this year. Why settle for a dozen red roses when you can be immersed in a sea of red dresses? How about a good trail and some ice cold beer to show how much you really care?

Find out why the Bergen H3 Killer Hill is one of Europe’s top events. If you get off the hill alive and out of Norway unscathed, take a gander at the Stockholm Absolute Hash Trash for some irreverent discourse with a Swedish slant, and the bawdy humor of Donald McGill. Off to sweet home Alabama for the Gulf Coast H3 600th Run Celebration. Keep heading south until you hit Panama...Panama City, Florida that is, for one of the wildest Red Dress

Runs in the country. If the Polar Vortex gets you down, pack up your surfboard, find your sunglasses, and fish out your favorite red dress, then hop a flight to the islands for the Aloha H3 RDR. For all the racists at the hash, check out the Running & Racing Calendar for the most comprehensive listing of running events in Asia. If running a marathon does not inspire you, read about “Easy Runner”…a hasher who ran 48 marathons in 2013. The Harrier Magazine Team in America, Asia and Europe looks forward to seeing you on trail in the coming months of what may be a banner year for great hashing around the world. ergen H3 hashes on the wild and rocky West Coast of Norway amongst rugged mountains and deep blue fjords. In medieval times, probably to escape their spouses, the people of Bergen climbed the seven mountains surrounding their city. Don’t worry; the Killer Hill weekend conquers only one of the Seven, and this year it is Rundemanen’s (568 m) turn 30 May - 1 June. If you thirst for fresh air, sweat and tears, stunning views and of course BEER, BH3 welcomes you to a truly unique Hash Run with one of the World’s most northerly Hash Clubs. We also have a Red Dress run as pre-lube.

Alabama

Gulf Coast H3 by Mark Parsell

S

traddling the waters of Mobile Bay, way down south in Alabama, there’s a naughty little kennel known affectionately as GCH3. For readers unfamiliar with Mobile, Alabama, it is situated along the shore of Mobile Bay, about halfway between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Destin, Florida. Singer Edwin McCain once said it was, “like New Orleans, without the vomit smell.”
Formed in 1989 by the honorable Hash Master P.M. Wes “Abner ‘Lil” just after the Lenten madness known as Mardi Gras, the Gulf Coast Hash House Harriers was originally composed of doctors, lawyers and otherwise respectable wankers who enjoyed running and beer.
In the 23 years since its founding GCH3 has somewhat evolved. There are still plenty of doctors and lawyers but today’s kennel has so many artistic and performing types that almost every time a stage play or movie begins production half the kennel gets a down-down for participating. In addition to semi-regular disaster hashes and drinking practices at places like O’Daly’s Irish Pub and The Industry Bar, GCH3 trails are run every other Saturday, with the pack averaging about 30 hashers.

India Nash Hash 2014 Revisited

The Indian Nash Hash 2014 was held in the Waynard Hills in Kerala on Jan 10-12. It was hosted by MADRAS HHH, and the main organizer was Vinod “Beep Beep” Reddy. (not Chennai H3 and Sashi “Lord Krishna” Varma). I was there. It was a great event with 170 participants from 15 chapters, with a contingent from Malaysia. Veterans like Digit, Drainoil and Hardy Boy attended. -Rail Jerker
