Yorkshire by Cabbage Knievel

North Yorkshire lad born and breed it was very rare I left my home county and if I did I was soon back, as Dorothy said “there’s no place like home”.
Starting to talk about my experiences about Yorkshire Hashing from Thailand may sound strange but it’s here that my hashing life started! It’s thus I feel I should begin my story here in Pattaya. Our eldest son Steve came to live here and wasn’t coming home to see his mother every now and then like a good lad should. So we decided to go to Thailand for a holiday so mother could see him! To cut a long story short on our third annual visit 2004 he took us Hashing for our very first time, totally unprepared for the experience we muddled through, he still wouldn’t come home? Wonder why!! So we repeated our experience, but were now prepared for what was going to happen on this hashing job which was now one of the priorities.

Visitors Guide to III Belgian Beer Lambic and Fruit Beer
T
here is a certain romance associated with Lambic folklore of Belgium. Producing the Lambic based beers is not only a process, it is an art form steeped in history. The Lambic region is in the Senne River Valley on the edge of Brussels, with a landscape of rolling hills, forests and the perennial blue bells which sweep forest floor in a carpet of blue for 2 weeks in April. Some of the famous Lambic towns include Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Alsemburg, Dworp and Beersel.

“Sour” and “acidic” are the words that spring to mind when Lambic, or Lambiek in Flemish, is mentioned. The Lambic unique sour character is the result of spontaneous fermentation by wild yeasts and bacteria. Today many brewers carefully propagate and control the various strains of yeast that go into a Lambic; however, a few breweries still use the traditional 16th century method of opening the windows and allowing whatever is floating in the Brussels air come to live and reproduce in their beer. Lambic is not brewed in the summer months due to the increase in undesirable bacteria in the air. The Lambic peculiarities don’t stop there. Rather than using fresh hops, brewers use aged hops. Old hops have lost the bitterness and have a conservation quality.

ore than 275 hashers were tied up at the September 2013 Original Red Dress Run, in San Diego, California. But not with knots but with beer, tunnels and adventure. The sight was unbelievable with 50 Shades of Red and then some. Our t-shirts had ties on them and one brave soul made a dress of ties. It was again San Diego team delivering another great event. The event consisted of three days of hashing.

First day had a Friday night Pink run. The guidelines are to wear something with pink. And we usually do a couple of beer checks, but each is different with its own fun. After running and drinking with 250 of yours friends we end at The Hole. Where we chow down on the delicious makings of Dog Fish and then proceed to drink pitchers of beer and dance to tunes of our beloved DJ Paul. Second day Saturday we offered for those still standing a Morning run, with the beautiful sites of San Diego, food and beer. Plus some very good drink checks, so good it had to be shut down to get
