Editor’s Notes The mega event of the 2016 Hash calendar takes place this month on Bali, the Indonesian “Island of the Gods”. This marks the 20th biennial World Interhash, which had its humble beginnings in Hong Kong in 1978. With many hashers choosing smaller HHH events over the larger ones, it will be interesting to see the direction Interhash takes when IH 2016 participants vote for Fiji, Kuching or Medan for 2018. BALI INTERHASH 2016: 5000 hashers from 75 countries will invade Sanur, once a sleepy fishing village. IH Bali will feature scenic runs for which Bali is known, great entertainment, Hash Acts, Down Down Competition, a Full Moon Graveyard Run honoring those hashers we have lost, an Old Farts Walk for those who refuse to throw in the towel, as well as a Bali Red Dress Run carrying on the legacy of the unforgettable Lady in Red. A sea of Bintang Beer will keep hashers well lubed with their favorite beverage, while the Interhash Bazaar will offer bargains galore including Harrier-the World Hash Magazine. Please stop by to say hello and for some great gifts available while they last. Go Green or Go Home at the Portland Green Dress Run. What are these treehuggers up to, and is it the result of drinking too much organic wheat grass juice or smoking it?
HARRIER MAGAZINE PUBLISHER JIM EDENS ON TRAIL ABOVE SUBIC BAY.
It takes more than bombs to keep Belgians down. Belgium Nash Hash a month after the Brussels bombings hashers gathered as planned in Antwerp undeterred from celebrating life, love and the pursuit of beer. World Peace thru Beer was celebrated unabated. For those looking for an excuse to go to Vietnam, Hanoi will celebrate 25 years of hashing. This has all the elements of a great HHH event in a country with unmatched beauty and a proud cultural heritage. Our Africa correspondent, Head Mistress, joined 350 hashers in Uganda for a 90 km relay from Kampala to Jinja, in the fabled Nile river delta. Why, you may ask? Read the article and find out all about this amazing trek that hashers have embraced for the last 10 years. And for our readers who dream of visiting a World Heritage town and running to support a worthwhile children’s charity, the
Luang Prabang Half Marathon welcomes you to Laos this October. Sir Malibog strikes again with the offbeat humor of the Absolut Hash Trash, along with other regular Harrier Magazine columns Adventures of Hash Boy and On the Ice. I look forward to seeing you on trail soon. On On, Jim Edens

long time ago, in a hash far, far away……two hashers from the Ben Franklin Mob H3 transplanted to Portland, Oregon. With them they brought the tradition of the Green Dress Hash Weekend which is celebrated as close to St Patrick’s Day as possible. Since then it has been passed down to others to carry on the burden of organizing and trying to stay sober through the festivities. Even though some original traditions have changed it still brings in hashers along the West coast. This year marked the 5 year anniversary with the slogan: “Why drink all day, when you can drink all weekend?”

Belgium Nash Hash

CONTENTS
Hashing in Brussels & the Belgian Nash Hash a month after the Bombings Belgium is a country whose citizens are relaxed and welcoming. They are always up for a celebration. This coupled with the extensive expatriate community, produces an atmosphere in Brussels which is ripe for hashing. We were pleased to welcome 2700 hashers to Brussels in 2014 for the Beer Odyssey. The party culture in Brussels was one of the reasons the event was a great success. On 22 March, all this was interrupted with three bombs, two at the airport and one at the Maelbeek Metro station. Many of the participants of the Beer Odyssey stayed at hotels near the Maelbeek station and remember it well.

frican correspondent Julia ‘Head Mistress’ Stanton asked Kampala’s, RA, Alex ‘Queenie’ Roman about the upcoming Jinja Relay Hash, the first weekend of July 2016 and why the Kampala Hash House Harriers is worth a visit.
What is the annual Kampala to Jinja Relay Hash all about? “The Kampala to Jinja Relay Hash is a copy and paste Hash event from Nairobi’s Hash House Harriers, Naivasha annual Relay Hash in Kenya. In 2004 Kampala Hash sent a full team to run it and decide to start a homebased relay hash and the first Kampala to Jinja Relay Hash was organised in 2005 covering 87km of nice dirt trail.”
