Editor’s Notes: The glow of summer fades into fall as hashers heed the ON ON call. Hashers are raving about Eurohash 2013, so superbly staged by VD Viking and his able crew. The logistical challenge of three countries in three days was pulled off with flair and style so hashers could taste the best that Stockholm, Tallinn and Helsinki had to offer. Read all about it in Yarksucker’s Amazing Adventures through Scandinavia. Pattaya’s proud history of hashing was recently tarnished by an unscrupulous Malaysian would-be organizer at Pan Asia Hash 2013. Next year’s Thai Nash Hash could go a long way towards restoring Pattaya’s reputation as the favorite hotbed of hashing in Asia. Relive the glory days of the Pattaya hash scene, and don’t be too quick to write off Pattaya from your HHH bucket list. Glasgow and Lexington are worlds apart in more ways than one. Scotch Whiskey and
Kentucky Bourbon are two of the enticements to hashing in these world class destinations. So pour yourself a double shot of single malt or a frosty tall mint julep and read on. Choose from the feast of great HHH and running events on the schedule over the coming months. It’s never too early to start making plans for what looks like an exceptional year of superb events around the world. The Harrier Magazine Team in Asia, Europe, India and America looks forward to seeing you on trail or at a great HHH event soon. Happy hashing!

The History
of Hashing
in Pattaya by Bam Bam Chairman Thai Nash Hash 2014
I
n the early days, Pattaya wasn’t much more than a sleepy little fishing village, brought to life somewhat, by the US Military using it as an R&R base for its troops during the Vietnam War.
Around the time hashing kicked off in Pattaya, the sleepy little township was a far cry from the burgeoning metropolis it is today, 2nd Road was a dirt track, 3rd Road didn’t exist and east of Sukhumvit Road, commonly referred to as the “Dark Side” was mostly farming land or bush and not the ever growing “Burbs” it is today. There was no great need to travel very far to conduct a run, indeed many runs were quite literally “In town” amongst the rice paddies, water buffalo, coconut trees and overgrown field. These days we have to travel further and further afield to find some trails to run on, but there is still plenty of nice hashing country, just a short bus ride from town. Now on with the Pattaya hashing history lesson...

in City Hash House Harriers and Harriettes (SCH4) in Cincinnati have been threatening to organize a hash in Rabbit Hash, KY for years. The town’s name, “Rabbit Hash”, dates to the flood of 1847 when the abundant local rabbit population was driven to higher ground and became a food staple in a special stew called “hash.” So the hashers and this small town have something in common; a hash MUST be laid there! Rabbit hash is a small town about 45 miles southwest of Cincinnati and 50 miles north of Lexington. The mayor is a dog, which narrowly won against a goat and a cat in the past. You can imagine the poo flinging. Read about the real bitch here: www.rabbithashusa.com/notions.php
We all know the hashing family is the best family. 54 HARRIER

With this hash, we tripled the town’s population, but lowered the town’s aggregate IQ.
