S

eptember marks the end of summer in the northern hemisphere, and longer days down under.

Brussels hosted the HHH mega event of the summer, and the Vineyard Hash conquered Portugal armed only with goblets and corkscrews. The Sembach H3 will celebrate the end of summer with their 800th run. The Big Easy calls on all souls living or dead to don their ghoulish garb for the notorious New Orleans Jazz FUNeral. If red dresses are more your thing, head out west to Vegas baby, where slot machines show triple $$$ for a good cause, along with some image building for the hash.

Kuntfoo takes us to the Island of the Gods, where old farts saunter slowly along Sanur’s sparkling shores. Babes, bikinis, and Bintang make Bali a paradise right here on earth. And finally, follow Iboibo to the Dark Continent, where neither northern terrorists, malaria nor Ebola can stop the hash from having a ball in Bamako, Mali. Keep on hashing and we hope to see you on trail soon. ecognized by www.RedDressRuns.org and Harrier Magazine as one of the top ten Red Dress Runs for 2014, the Las Vegas Red Dress Run will host it’s 11th annual event supporting the Las Vegas charity, Safe Nest this October.

Over the past six years Safe Nest has been the charity of choice for the Las Vegas Red Dress Run. They operate the only 24-hour emergency shelters in the city for battered women and children, and are the oldest and largest domestic violence program in Southern Nevada, offering not only shelter but also counseling. Over the past three years the Las Vegas Red Dress Run has donated $14,569 to the local charity, $8,000 of which was donated in 2012, the Las Vegas Red Dress Run’s most successful event to date.

ew Orleans is truly one of the most unique cities in the world. With its history, culture and party attitude, there’s really no excuse not to find something about this place that you’ll enjoy, from the city’s multiple festivals to hundreds and hundreds of bars, and some of them never close. All of that aside, New Orleans makes a great city to go hashing. It is one of the few cities in the USA that doesn’t have an open container law, so drinking beer is even easier here. You can drink at your house, at a bar, or even on the streets. Hell, Bourbon Street, which is located in the world famous French Quarter, is well known for this. Oh yeah, and the running isn’t bad either. And with three kennels, the hashing’s pretty good here too.

he long awaited and highly anticipated Brussels Beer Odyssey is over. So where to begin in discussing this event? First, was it interhash? Technically no, but it was perceived as such by nearly 2500 attendees including myself. It certainly had an interhash “feel” to it and by all accounts, it was a much better run event than its counterpart in Hainan, China earlier this year (after polling those who attended both interhashes).

Brussels interhash was a well organized and well executed event. I give it a solid A. Some people reading this may balk at my use of the word “interhash”, but in effect, that is what it was for many hashers. It certainly was for me!
