rivate lessons are focused on the individual, where students of all ages and skill levels meet with an instructor who is an expert of their respective instrument. With individual attention and goal setting, private lessons guide you in a personalized track for your appropriate learning level. Our motivation system encourages students with worksheets, concert attendance, reports, use of flash cards and more. We offer three methods of private lessons – traditional, team and non–traditional – to meet the individualized learning needs of each student. See below for descriptions of each.

Siblings may be present in private lessons if quiet, still, and observing to ensure quality instruction. Sibling attendance does not apply to group lessons or Kindermusik.

Please note, tuition is based on a monthly rate to include a variety of amenities with the studio on top of private lessons, such as student recitals, performance opportunities, makeup classes, and much more. Because of this, there is no “per lesson rate” offered for the Traditional or Team Methods.

Traditional Method

Traditional Method (monthly tuition)

Experience one–on–one instruction with our traditional method of private lessons for a variety of instruments. Traditional private lessons meet once a week in an atmosphere that promotes individualized attention.

Team Method

Our team method pairs together parents and children, friends, family members, or any two people that would like to learn a new instrument of choice or enhance already-existing skills. Enjoy a one-on-one lesson experience, while learning how to play an instrument together.

Non–Traditional Method

If you have ever struggled with scheduling lessons around your work or life schedule, or if you only need a few lessons for an audition or special performance, we make it possible for you to receive the instruction you need.

This non–traditional approach is not recommended for developing musicians acquiring skills to refine their instrument. However, we recognize individual circumstances warrant a different avenue of receiving instruction. Lessons are by appointment and are scheduled based on availability.

Payment must be received prior to scheduling your lesson. Further, because of the variability of these classes, there are no refunds or rescheduling. Please give 24–hour notice of any cancellation of non–traditional private lessons by contacting the Harris office.

NOTE: HAA tuition is charged at a monthly rate versus a “per lesson” rate as we provide a variety of amenities with our studio such as

student & faculty recitals, motivation system, computer/theory lab, contests, administrative office coverage, special events, etc.

PAYMENT ISSUES/DISCREPANCIES: $30 Fee (or amount of fee if higher than $30) for Returned Checks or Non-Sufficient Funds. Accounts exceeding 30 days past due will not receive services until account becomes current. Payment issues/discrepancies will be reviewed for future acceptance with Harris Academy of the Arts. Payment for materials, supplies and gifts are due upon receipt. If indicated on registration form, student may apply materials, supplies and gift billings to their monthly automatic tuition payment.

REFUND POLICIES: 1. Fees non-refundable (e.g., Annual Administrative Fee, Material Fees of any Group Class, festival fees, etc. Exception of class postponement or cancellation).

2. Tuition fee is paid regardless of student attendance. Missed lessons are non-refundable (see makeup ”SWAP LIST” options).

3. Books and Materials are non-refundable.

4. Registration fee and first month tuition paid during studio re-enrollment are non-refundable (spot is being held for student).

INTRODUCTORY LESSON: An introductory lesson for private music lessons may be scheduled by contacting our office. A non-refundable payment of $12 must be received prior to the introductory lesson before a time is scheduled with an instructor. Payment may be credited to a future introductory lesson if cancellation occurs PRIOR to 48 hours of the scheduled introductory lesson.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES: Studio will observe LPS cancellation policies regarding inclement weather and/or emergency circumstances.

Harris Academy of the Arts weather cancellations will be announced via email. Such cancellations will NOT be made up or reimbursed, however, students are encouraged to attend the Group Make-Up Classes (see schedule). Please refer to news/media resources for cancellation of Lincoln Public Schools. Cancellations occurring after daytime school hours will follow example of local colleges.

TORNADO WARNINGS: Unless a class/lesson is located within a “storm shelter area” at our studio, lessons and/or classes will not be conducted during Tornado Warnings. To ensure safety, individuals in our facility during a tornado warning will be expected to immediately follow Harris Academy of the Arts Safety Procedures.

INSTRUCTOR PRIVATE LESSON CANCELLATION: Notification of substitutes or make-ups for private lessons will occur via email and/or phone.

SWAP LIST—PRIVATE LESSONS: Students may share contact information (name, phone number, email address, day/time of lesson) with other students via our SWAP LIST. The SWAP LIST provides flexibility for scheduling conflicts for private lessons (e.g., illness, school events, travel, etc.) so that they may communicate with others to arrange for a trade (applicable to private lessons only). All swaps must be communicated to studio within 24 hours prior to lesson. It is not the responsibility of the studio or instructor to arrange swaps.

MAKE-UPS: Private lesson students are allowed two (2) make-ups during term for either illness (must provide doctor’s note) and/or funeral. Prior notice of absence must be given to office allowing for ample time to notify instructor, otherwise, student will not receive make-up. Misses for events such as sports, concerts, etc., may be made up by attending a GROUP MAKE-UP CLASS (see calendar for offerings). Class is provided in a group setting to further assist with skills. Students in group classes are welcome to attend make-up class if group classes are missed during term.

Yard Sign Program Earn a FREE lesson or class For every 4 months you post a Harris Academy of the Arts yard sign in the front lawn of your home or business, you can earn a FREE private lesson or class.

CONDITIONS:  Must be within city limits of your community  Must be placed 5-8 feet from paved street of your front lawn HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE PROGRAM:  Contact the office to pick up your sign  Place the sign in your yard, take a photo with the budding musicians in your household, and send it to the office (the day we receive your photo is your program start date)  After 4 months, bring your yard sign back to the studio to receive your FREE music lesson or class! Or, send us another photo and participate again! The yard sign program goes all year long!

The office at Harris Academy of the Arts uses an online software program known as Mindbody for all of its scheduling and database needs. We hope that you will take a few minutes to visit our portal site and experience the program for yourself. Simply visit our website (http://harrisacademyofthearts.com) and click on “Online Store” to access the Mindbody site. The information in this handout will give you the “low down” on the new features and tell you how to access your account. We hope you find the site as useful as we do!

Register for Group Classes Students are now able to register online for all group classes, including Kindermusik, Children’s Music Academy, and studio classes. Simply visit our Mindbody site and click the “Classes” tab to see our class listing. Classes can be sorted by Program, Class Type, and Teacher by using the drop-down buttons at the top of the screen. To enroll in a group class simply click on the “Enroll” button and follow the onscreen instructions.

Please Note: Before you can enroll in a group class, you must first purchase a contract for the class in the “Online Store” tab. Please be sure to purchase the contract under the name of the student taking the class, rather than the purchaser. Contact the office if you’re not sure which contract you should purchase.

View our Schedule…Request an Appointment!

Clicking on the “Private Lesson” tab will bring you to an appointment search engine where you can search for a specific lesson time in an instructor’s schedule. Alternatively, you can click on the “Browse Appointment Schedule” to see all of our instructors’ availability on a particular day. You can even read an instructor’s biography and see their photo by clicking on his or her name.

Want to start lessons? Found a lesson time you like with the instructor you want? Then set up an intro lesson by requesting an appointment! You can request a lesson two ways: 1) by searching for the lesson time in the search engine or, 2) by clicking on the “Intro Lesson” words in the instructor’s schedule.

Simply follow the on-screen instructions to request your lesson. We will then contact you to finalize the introductory lesson request.

Please Note: Weekly private lesson enrollments cannot be booked online. If you would like to book weekly private lessons during our term, please stop by our office to register.

Log In, Create a Profile, View Your Info Whether you want to enroll as a new student or view your profile as a returning student, you will need to create a profile to access your information. All clients, new and returning, who want to log into the system for the first time will need to log in using the “Is this your first time?” section on the log in page. Here’s what you can expect if you are: 1) A New Student: Once you enter your name on the log in page, the system will take you to an information page where you can input your client information. Just follow the on-screen

directions to create your profile. Once your profile is ready, you can register for group classes and request appointments.

2) A Returning Student: Once you enter your name on the log in page, the system will refer you to a list of names already in the system. Simply find your name on the list and click the “This is Me!” button on the right-hand side. You will then be asked to verify your identity by entering a piece of personal information (phone number, address, or email). After verification is complete, you will be able to access your online profile. However, you may notice that you are not able to see your client information. This restricted access is due to the fact that we must first check to make sure that you are who you say you are. Once we approve your profile log in at the studio, you will be able to access your information from your portal and be able to edit the information.

A few important things to note: Parents will be able to see the personal information of their children (e.g., address, birthday, gender, etc.) within their profile pages and be able to edit that information.

Parents can even enroll their children in classes through the parent’s own profile. In order to see their child’s lesson schedule, however, parents will need to visit their child’s account by creating a separate log in for the child. Simply follow the same steps described in Step 2, only insert the child’s name.

Information Available for Viewing What can you view after you log in? A lot! Along with access to our class and private lesson schedules, you can view your own profile and class information. The upper right-hand corner features five sections pertaining to your profile: Contact Info:

Displays your personal information, including financial info.

Schedule:

Displays your upcoming lessons or classes

History:

Lists the classes that you previously booked

Purchases:

Shows the products and services you have purchased

Account:

Displays any current lessons or contracts for which you are currently registered (e.g., private lessons, Kindermusik, group classes, etc.)

Please Note: If a parent purchases a month of private lessons for their child, the private lesson purchase will be displayed in the parent’s “Purchase” section, but the private lesson package information will be listed under the child’s “Account Details.”

Books, Instruments, and Gifts…Oh, My! Through our Mindbody software, we are also able to sell merchandise online. Does your child need a new set of piano books? Buy them online through our Online Store and have your child pick them up at the studio! Need a gift for a child’s birthday party? Browse through our selection of Kindermusik play packages. Birthday Parties!

Turn Your Child’s Next Birthday Party Into A

Musical Celebration

Have your child’s birthday party at Harris Academy of the Arts and EVERYONE will enjoy a delightful time of musical celebration TOGETHER. Our Birthday Parties provide an interactive, FUN experience for children and adults alike! We’ll get the party kicked off with a full hour of musical fun and entertainment, taking much of the planning and entertaining load off you! Fifteen minutes of EXPLORATION and FREE PLAY with musical activities, sets the stage for the next forty-five minutes of instrument exploration, instrument play-a-longs, creative movement, story time, dancing and more!

Attendance & Recommended Ages:

We recommend no more than 10-12 children in attendance. Depending on the age group and theme, our Birthday Parties are best suited for children between the ages of 6 months—10 years of age.
