2014 > April: Colorado Springs establishes “sister city relationship” with Ancient Olympia in Greece > July: “ Young Champion Ambassador” program (YCA) was conceptualized. > Sep: YCA Business plan finalized > Oct: First YCA essay contest initiated - 17 Schools initially participated 2015 > Jan: A leadership program was established for YCA nominees > March: YCA partners with SportCorp to promote State Games & COPPeR to promote Arts month > May: Gazette newspaper agrees to publish each month the nominees essays > June: YCA hosts an Olympic Day event at the OTC > Aug: YCA hosts event at the Conservatory & Air Force > Nov: First YCA finalist was selected 2016 > April: Mayor will accompany YCA finalist to Ancient Olympia for the lighting of the Olympic torch

By Jan 2016 > YCA will develop a website with the following features: 1. Students will be able to submit their essays online 2. Schools, Teachers and Students will be able to create profiles 3. The selected students from each school would be able to illustrate (and share socially) via a timeline their progress as they participate in the YCA leadership program 4. Teachers profiles would be able to review and nominate the essays of their students
