Behind the Scenes 30 November 2013 – Spring 2015
Go ‘behind the scenes’ to explore how the Harris’ costume and textile collection is cared for and to celebrate all the people who help – from local volunteers and students to researchers from far and wide. It’s a great chance to see the variety of treasures we look after in the museum stores, from elegant ball gowns to funky platform shoes. Find out about the work that goes on ‘behind the scenes’ and have your say on what projects the museum works on next. Better still – find out how you can get involved in all these activities and even help to make them happen by making a donation to our charity, the Friends of the Harris. ARTIST ROOMS: Bruce Nauman 15 February – 24 May 2014
The Harris Museum & Art Gallery is delighted to present an exhibition of works by Bruce Nauman, one of the most influential artists of our time. The show includes his epic work, Changing Light Corridor with Rooms, last exhibited in the UK in 1989. Representing the breadth of his practice from the 1970s to the 1990s, the exhibition features works that focus on body language, word play and repetitive gesture. Young people have been involved in selecting the works and will create additional interpretation in the gallery. The exhibition is presented as part of ARTIST ROOMS on tour.
ARTIST ROOMS On Tour is a partnership with Arts Council England and the Art Fund, making available the ARTIST ROOMS collection of international modern and contemporary art to galleries throughout the UK. ARTIST ROOMS is jointly owned by Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland and was established through The d’Offay Donation in 2008, with the assistance of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Art Fund, and the Scottish and British Governments.
