lobal Village has introduced a special theatrical dance performance Pasha Dance Theater in Dubai for the very first time. It is a story of love and immortality, the cultures of the Middle-East, the Balkan Peninsula and Anatolia come together for this fairy-tale performance. Comprising of a team of 45 professional dancers dressed in colourful and regal costumes, the beautifully choreographed theatrical performance tells a story about the love between the Pasha, a high-ranking Turkish lord and a beautiful, young maid. The plot slowly
begins to unravel with the lines, “once upon a time” and takes viewers back in time to the ancient land of Anatolia, where the Pasha takes guests on a visual dance journey to rescue his kidnapped love. The dance opens with the introduction of the Pasha through bold, strong dance movements followed by graceful, oriental dancing with the introduction of the young maid. Using vibrant folkloric dances such as the Horon dance of the Black Sea, the strong Zeibeks dance steps and oriental dancing while also adapting them to the modern style dance, the passionate scenes of the plot
convey the tale through stunning visual imagery in the background of the dance performance, opening the doors to the fabled city of Antalya in Turkey, to the world. The scenic beauty of the southern region of Turkey is showcased with moving images on the screen of the stage and the entire story comes alive, taking the spectator to a different world belonging to an ancient time. An absolute must-watch, Pasha Dance Theatre, is amongst many culturally-rich shows performed at Global Village, and will be running 3 shows a day until April 2nd 2017.

Beating Examination The 10th edition of Annual DIAC Career Stress Fair concludes successfully
may be a good place to have them answered. Ask your teacher if they know of anyone else interested in studying with other people.
P
C
elebrating ten years of successfully connecting students and prospective employers, Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) concluded its 10th Career Fair, held in collaboration with JOB HUNT HR & Management Consultancy at Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP). Throughout the years, the Annual DIAC Career Fair has evolved into the biggest and most coveted student career event in the region, with more than 6,000 students and 50 companies participating in this year’s event. In the era of online applications and job portals, career fairs continue to serve a critical function in bringing together prospective employers and job candidates to allow both parties to network, test the market and establish personal contacts.
Looking back at ten years of progressive growth, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City, Mohammad Abdullah, said: “I am very pleased that the eagerly awaited 10th edition of the DIAC Career Fair has yet again managed to exceed expectations and created 385 job opportunities for students. Since its inception ten years ago, the event has gone from
reparing for an examination can get one under pressure for desire to succeed peer and parent expectation and fear of failure. However, knowing well what to expect during the examination can give you an advantage of what you should do before anxiety kicks in.
strength to strength contributing to the UAE leadership’s growth and diversification vision for the Emirate, by matching young talent with best in class employers.” This year’s Career Fair saw over 300 trainee jobs on offer, along with midlevel career jobs across a variety of fields. Jobs in the hospitality and travel sectors dominated the offering followed by opportunities in the healthcare, engineering and pharmaceutical space. Abdullah added: “From an employer’s perspective, finding fresh, skilled and motivated talent can be challenging. The DIAC Career Fair is an excellent platform to equip students and fresh graduates in the region with the right tools and knowledge to shape their future. By helping students and young professionals with expert advice and training, we aim to engage and empower them, so they can build a future for themselves and for the communities they live in. In addition, this year’s Fair gave students the opportunity to explore part- time opportunities in accordance with a new directive recently issued by the Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA). The first legislation of its kind in the region, this is an important regulatory milestone for
Dubai, as it allows students to gain valuable professional experience that will better qualify them for future employment.” Founder and Managing Director of JOBHUNT HR and Management Consultancy, Ms. Jaya Bhatia said: “We were pleased to cooperate with DIAC in organising the /10th Annual Career Fair. Building on our successful partnership with DIAC last year, we managed to create more than 300 job opportunities. We also managed to communicate with and connect employers and job seekers together. This year’s fair provided us with the opportunity to direct job seekers to focus on opportunities that match their skills and abilities and enable them to develop and be creative.” In addition to information stands run by key public and private sector employers, the DIAC Career Fair also presented an opportunity for students to acquire important skills to enhance their chances of getting hired. The Fair was complemented by a number of professional workshops for students and graduates to further enhance their CVs and interview skills, including seminars on job hunting and the importance of body language in professional communications.
Some of the major reasons why students fail their examinations are lack of preparation, extra-curricular activities, peer pressure, poor support system, and a lot more. These factors greatly contribute to failures but can be prevented 99.9% of the time. First, you need to understand the importance of examination, so any distractions and activities must be set aside in order for you to gain focus. Second, condition yourself well to avoid confusion, poor concentration, excessive anxiety, tiredness, and other symptoms. Lastly, fill your minds with healthy and positive thoughts, which will highly boost your self-esteem and eliminate negativities. Tips to Manage Stress 1. Plan well and go for a revision Having a good study area can make a huge difference to how well you learn. Study in a well-lit, quiet area, away from noises and people in the house. If this is impossible, it might be better to study at the library. Make sure your desk is tidy and organized - it means you can concentrate on studying and learning, not trying to find information.
2. Switch the Phone or Email Off! If you find that you are being distracted by the phone or emails, it might help to put the answering machine on or get others in the house to take messages for a while. 3. To Do Lists Make a to-do list before each study session. Breaking tasks down into small, manageable tasks will make it less overwhelming. 4. Make your notes, books and essays user friendly Find out what format the exam will take i.e. Are the questions in essay, short answer or multiple-choice format? Is the exam open book or closed book? Knowing how the exam is marked and what proportion of your total mark its worth might be helpful.
7. Revise when you know you are at your best. Don’t cram EVERYTHING just one night before the exam. Revise and Learn (Not Just Re-Read) - Sometimes reading through notes doesn’t result in learning or understanding. Know your Preferred Learning Style - Some people work better using text based memory tools, like acronyms (e.g. ROYGBIV - colours of the rainbow; acrostics e.g. Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit). Other people find more visual tools more useful, e.g. mind maps or tree diagrams. Don’t avoid revision of those courses you hate the most. 8. Take Short Rests Getting up, moving around and away from your desk at least every 50 minutes for 10 minutes makes you concentrate and learn better. Be Positive. Eat Well and Stay Healthy.
5. Get Help Ask your Tutor how to go about revision. Your teacher or tutor can help if you are having trouble developing a study routine or need help with understanding subjects or a particular topic. Asking for help does not mean you’re a failure or stupid - it’s smart to tap into their experience and knowledge to help you perform better. Keep going back to them if you’re still unsure or you have more questions. It’s their job to be available for you.
9. Avoid Procrastination Procrastination is when you do everything else but the task you need to do. It is normal to procrastinate a little. However too much procrastination can just add to your stress and can result in you not giving yourself enough time to prepare. Managing your time and setting realistic goals for each study session can be helpful ways to avoid procrastinating and make tasks seem less overwhelming.
6. Try explaining tricky questions to someone Study Groups - Forming a studying group can be a helpful way to revise your notes and work through past exam questions (it can also help you feel supported, keep you motivated and focused). If you have questions about your work, a study group
10. Use your Frees Studying in the school library during your free classes gives you access to lots of information available on the reference shelves. Some material, such as sample solutions, often can’t be taken out of the library or can be too long to photocopy. Don’t go by what others say.

Goran Colak stuns World Champion Branko at the 11th Fazza Championship for Freediving to select the best 10 divers in the Open, Gulf and Junior categories took place recently with 30 of the participants advancing to the final round to vie for major honours in a competition that has gained international acclaim over the past decade. Hamad Al Rahoomi, Head of Fazza Championship Diving Committee, was optimistic that this year’s tournament would be another record breaking one.
T
he 11th edition of Fazza Championship for Freediving organized and supervised by the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage
Centre at Hamdan Sports Complex in Ruwayyah, saw the participation of men and women in the Juniors, Gulf and Open (Professionals) as they
competed in the largest tournament of its kind and one of the most challenging traditional sports. The qualifying rounds
“What we are looking for is a new record. However, this championship is not an easy one because you hold onto the rope like before when they used to go for pearl diving. It is based on that model unlike in world championships where they relax their
body and float to the surface. This is unlike any other competition where you have to dive deep and hang onto the rope. The diver uses lot of energy and breath doing that. People have to get enough training to get used to this method. Therefore any championship record is a world record because this is one of a kind competition,” explained Al Rahoomi. “There are divers from Croatia, Slovenia, Russia, Poland, Serbia, Ukraine, the UK, France, Romania and all GCC countries. Since last year when we applied new technology in monitoring the timings with smart watches, the championship has gained in speed and transparency and definitely more fun and excitement because you can see timings
directly,” he said. The star of the evening was Croatia’s Goran Colak who held his breath under water for a time of 10:07.24 minutes to be the best qualifier in the Open category upsetting defending champion and world record holder Branko Petrovic of Serbia who came second clocking 9:31.91 minutes. Another Croatian Veljano Zanki recorded the third best qualification time of 8:13.31. In the Gulf category, 32 divers from the UAE and the rest of the GCC countries competed. Oman’s Ibrahim Sulaitani clocked the best time of 5:19.79 minutes. Kuwait’s Hassan Ali recorded the second best time of 5:16.26 while another Omani Khamis Al Araimi was the third best qualifier clocking 5:13.79.

5 Common sleep problems and remedies to combat it stages. Non-medical treatments may entail sleep hygiene, relaxation therapy, control of stimuli, and sleep restriction while medical treatments could include a short term prescription of certain effective sedatives, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy which helps ‘re-train’ the brain to fall asleep
We all love to get enough of sleep, don’t we? But the fact remains that a sizable population is affected by sleep disorders and many a times are not even aware of it. But what is a sleep disorder? It involves problems with the quality, timing and amount of sleep, which causes problems with day-day functioning and distress in behaviour. The London Sleep Centre Dubai rounds up 5 prevalent Sleep Disorders and ways to combat it. Read on to see if you figure in any of these categories. 1. Snoring: Who doesn’t have a snorer in the family! It is caused when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is physically obstructed. Habitual snorers are at a risk of serious health issues including Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, heart diseases and even hypertension. Remedies: If snoring is accompanied by other symptoms such as daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, unrefreshing sleep or getting up frequently at night to pass urine, then it indicates that the snoring is affecting sleep quality, and can be
a sign of the more serious but relatively common condition of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. To diagnose this home sleep study is required. Treatment for snoring and mild sleep apnoea can include a mandibular advancement split which is worn in the mouth at night to prevent the lower jaw from falling back, or sometimes simple position therapy which prevents the person from sleeping on their back can be helpful. For sleep apnoea the gold standard treatment is Continuous Positive Air Pressure Therapy (CPAP) which involves the person wearing a mask over their mouth
or nose connected via a tube to a small machine which pumps air into the airway to keep in open. Sufferers often feel an immediate benefit once starting this treatment. 2. Initiation Insomnia (difficulty falling asleep): Characterized by the inability to initiate sleep, this may seem a mild disorder initially but can go on to become an unbearable one. People could be dealing with acute anxiety, dizziness and hypertension as a result of this. Remedies: It is important to treat the disorder in the early
3. Maintenance Insomnia (difficulty staying asleep): To put simply, it’s all about waking up in the middle of your sleep and then having problems falling asleep again. Whether you are waking up briefly or frequently through the night, this sleep disorder can be irritating as it does not let you complete your mandatory sleep cycles. Factors like stress, depression, medical issues and menopause along with alcohol addiction can add further woes to this disorder. Remedies: 70-80% of patients with sleep maintenance insomnia have an underlying physiological sleep disorder that they are unaware of. This could be a mild sleep breathing disorder, or periodic limb twitches of sleep. In order to successfully treat this complaint it is important to know the exact cause – this is done by having a sleep study. Once
the cause is determined and treated, the maintenance insomnia is usually cured. If no underlying disorders are found, then a combination of cognitive behavioural techniques, sleep restriction therapy or a short term of prescribed sedatives can help. 4. BIISS (Behaviourally Induced Insufficient Sleep Syndrome): It is a chronic, voluntary sleep restriction that is a prevalent cause of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) and daytime fatigue. It occurs when individuals sacrifice sleep in favour of other activities like watching TV, partying, late night work shifts or even for hobbies like reading. It can lead to poor work performance, social withdrawal, depression, and other psychological problems if not dealt with timely. Remedies: Remedies definitely are individual-specific depending upon the intensity of the disorder. In many cases sleep hygiene and habits are improved to induce routine sleep and in some cases sleep practitioners advise a cut in late-night work hours to maintain sleep sanctity. 5. Restless leg Syndrome: This is the urge to move

Ayurveda Massage Center forayed into the Middle East by opening its first centre in Karama six years ago. The centre offers traditional Indian system of massage therapy, traditional Indian oil Marma and Kalari oil massage coupled with Kizhi (Herbal Hot Pack).
Marma therapy is an ancient Indian practice that focuses on manipulating the subtle energy (prana) in the body to support the healing process. Marma therapy is based on the utilization of 107 points in the body considered to be the access points to body, mind, and consciousness. A marma point is a juncture on the body where two or more types of tissue meet, such as muscles, veins, ligaments, bones or joints. Yet marma points are much more than a casual connection of tissue and fluids; they are intersections of the vital
life force and prana, or breath. Marma therapy activates the Marma points in the body, rejuvenating your senses and soul. The treatment is done only through ‘Uzhichal’ or the massage without the intake of any medicines. The Centre specializes in the following services. 1. Body Message and Steam Bath (revitalises your body with herbal oil) 2. Nasyam (effective remedy to sinusitis, migraine, insomnia and mental stress)

your legs, usually worse during the evenings and accompanied typically by uncomfortable sensations like itching, gnawing or creepy-crawling. This can cause sleep initiation insomnia in some suffers. It is also highly associated with another disorder called Periodic Limb Movement Disorder of Sleep, a bed partner may notice frequent leg movements throughout the night, although they can be very small and unnoticeable, but can be highly detrimental to sleep quality. Remedies: It can be treated with home remedies, lifestyle changes, or specialized medicine. Sleeping on a regular schedule, exercising, stretching, massage, avoiding alcohol and applying heat or cold to your legs can help ease discomfort. Vitamins, supplements (especially iron if iron levels are low) and prescription medications can also help with RLS symptoms and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. Sleep disorders are secretly entering our lives and taking over our mental peace. It is best to consult a sleep specialist for medical intervention and guided path to recovery.

ubai Airports has unleashed the world’s fastest free Wi-Fi connection named WOWFi. The service provides internet connection up to a staggering 100mbps surpassing all other airports. This follows Dubai Airports’ launch of an upgraded free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi connection across Dubai International, DXB, and Dubai World Central, DWC, in December last year.
Michael Ibbitson, Executive Vice President of Technology and Infrastructure at Dubai Airports, said, “As the biggest international airport in the world, we are at the heart of many journeys across the globe.

A VIP delegation and contingent of international media were aboard the inaugural flight, which carried passengers from Athens, Dubai and points beyond. Newark becomes Emirates’ 12th U.S. gateway, and is the second serving the greater Tri-State Area, complementing Emirates’ existing four daily flights from Dubai and John F. Kennedy International Airport. Passengers embarking from Newark and Dubai will have the option to disembark in Athens or continue to their final destinations. “This new route will connect America’s largest metropolitan area and Dubai through one of To support these travellers, late last year we launched unlimited free high-speed Wi-Fi across our airports but our goal was to offer something they have never experienced at an airport before. With WOW-Fi passengers will get a speed of up to 100mbps to enable them to quickly download or upload emails, pictures, videos and social media updates and then get on with enjoying the airport or connecting to their friends and family across the world.” “We are always looking at ways to enhance airport experience for our customers by introducing the latest and best in technology and constantly making improvements

We expect this service to generate consistently high demand and enhance business, culture and leisure connections on both sides of the Atlantic.” “The United States is a priority market for Greece,” said Consul General of Greece in New York, Konstantinos Koutras. “Greece has experienced a double-digit increase in arrivals from the United States in the past two years. The establishment of the new direct flight Dubai-Athens-New York will significantly empower Greece’s appeal among the U.S. travel audience.” to our existing services and facilities. During the two months since the soft launch of WOW-Fi, the service has been enjoyed by an average of over 100,000 unique users per day. We are certain the WOW-Fi experience will impress the 89 million passengers we expect to welcome at DXB in 2017” he added. The unlimited free Wi-Fi at DXB connects with just one click and offers speed that sets a new benchmark for airports globally. To ensure the speed and reliability, Dubai Airports is investing in more than 6,000 new Wi-Fi access points to upgrade the entire wireless network infrastructure across both airports.
