DESTINATION MINDFULNESS! How do you actually go through life? In a mad dash or slow and steady? Of course, the pace at which you progress through life is entirely up to you. However, you should pay attention to the aspect of mindfulness from time to time, at least that is what experts advise. In the following we would like to explain to you why mindfulness is so important for our lives and why cycling of all things strengthens it. The digital age has long had us in its grasp. We all know that looking at your smartphone has already become routine. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram & Co. are constantly vying for our attention. On the one hand, it is important to make sensible use of the benefits of technical advancement. On the other hand, it is also important for us humans to pay attention to ethical aspects, such as personal limits, and not to deprive ourselves of our freedom and dignity. As a result, the topic of mindfulness as a countertrend to digitalisation is increasingly coming to the fore and should prevent us from running the risk of becoming completely alienated on the web. Added to this are the daily demands we place on ourselves – time pressure, hectic pace, social pressure and work/life balance. We have to deal with a huge volume of information and make quick decisions. This inevitably creates pressure from all sides, which often frays our nerves and sometimes even robs us of our sleep. Especially in times like these, it is important to step back, slow down and pay attention to what is really happening. Enjoying life in the "here and now" while discovering and consciously perceiving the small daily "wonders" – that is the goal of a mindful lifestyle.
INTEGRATING CYCLING INTO EVERYDAY LIFE AS A MINDFULNESS EXERCISE Anyone who thinks mindfulness is just simply meditation is wrong. After all, many mindfulness exercises can be easily integrated into everyday life, e.g. when riding. You read that correctly, cycling is a good basis for training your own mindfulness. The increased air intake, the routine movements and the focus on your activity act like a kind of meditative exercise. When cycling, concentrate on inhaling and exhaling and feel the fresh air flowing through your lungs and the wind blowing around your nose. Experience your surroundings with all your senses and pay attention to pedestrians, roadside pubs and other exciting things happening right in front your eyes. Tip your ears when cycling and listen to the wonderful sounds of nature, like the twittering of birds or the rustling of leaves in the trees. All this distracts from emerging thoughts and you remain focussed in the situation. And lo and behold, you also notice little things that you would never have noticed while driving in a closed car.
So what are you waiting for – get on your saddle, blow the cobwebs away and ride away the stress of everyday life!

PEARL 125 Limited edition
RRP
To mark the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Hermann Hartje KG, the stylish "Pearl 125" shines in the new colour of grey blue matt. With the help of the electronically switching Shimano Inter 5 Di2, which is perfectly in tune with the harmoniously and quiet-running Bosch Performance Line drive, timelessly beautiful elegance and modern technology have been combined here. A small servomotor on the hub, which is operated via the push button switches on the handlebar, means shifting is very precise while smooth. This allows the rider to concentrate fully on the road while the electronic shifting takes over the work.

Stylish and elegant, this Pearl makes it particularly easy to glide through the city. The 500 Wh battery from Bosch, which is completely integrated in the down tube and thus perfectly protected, as well as the Bosch Active Line-Plus drive, which is anchored in the bottom bracket area, ensure the pedelec has a tidy overall appearance. The hydraulic disc brakes are as sensitive as the motor power delivery and yet quite grabby because they can get quite a grip. However, above all they impress as they are always easy to apply. What stops us from being mindful? Do you know the feeling of being lost in a muddle of thoughts? Usually it starts in the morning while you brush your teeth by daydreaming your way into the day. In your head, you are already creating a shopping list for later. While you're in the shower, mentally you're already in the office. At breakfast you quickly check your mobile phone's newsfeed, and on the train, you go through your list of appointments again. We live in a world characterised by multi-tasking and sensory overload. This means we do many things at the same time without realising that our "inner autopilot" is switched on most of the time. This autopilot is the polar opposite of mindfulness. As soon as we do things automatically, we lapse into a trance-like state and our mind goes on holiday somewhere else so to speak. While we still brood with our thoughts in the past or already float in the future, we no longer pay attention to what is happening now – we think of everything but ourselves and what is happening in the "here and now". Spending the whole day on autopilot will only makes us unhappy and dissatisfied in the long run. So, it is high time to change this and add more mindfulness and relaxation to our lives. There are many easy exercises you can do that train yourself to be more mindful. You won't even need a mat or gym kit because relaxation starts in the mind! In fact, everyday activities that we normally carry out with as part of our routines are more suitable. TIP: Try to switch off your inner autopilot and perform routine tasks as if you were doing them for the first time ever. Focus consciously on every single perception and sensation and on every single step that is necessary to carry out the activity. Use all of your senses in the process – smell, taste, sound, touch and sight. And don't forget to avoid disturbing factors that could affect your concentration! Page 15
"Meditation is not about switching off your thoughts but acknowledging them and then letting them go"
@aminortonyoga www.aminorton.yoga
Meditation - daily practice (Ami Norton)
Mediation for me is a practice in which I cultivate mindfulness and learn how to interact with myself both consciously and compassionately. I teach my brain to be less distracted by the outside world and to stay and focus on the present moment. This means that I not only find peace during meditation, but also experience greater serenity and attentiveness in everyday life. It is no coincidence that an increasing number of people are meditating regularly. The numerous benefits – mental, physical and emotional – have now been proven in many scientific studies. Meditation costs nothing and requires no equipment or special knowledge.
Even so, many people still find the idea of meditation a bit daunting. A widespread misconception is that you should not think while meditating. In your mind's eye, you usually have a picture of a deeply relaxed person sitting in the lotus position for several hours without any flow of thoughts. This is rarely the case. Meditation is not about switching off your thoughts but to acknowledge them and then let them go, without becoming entangled in a spiral of thoughts. For me, it is like watching white clouds in the sky that eventually move on – some days are quieter, others are stormier. As with all new skills, it is not always easy at the beginning – do you rememPage 16
ber your first time trying to ride a bike? However, many people find this is the biggest stumbling block with meditation. But, if you stick with it and practise regularly, you will feel benefits in all areas of life.
HERE ARE MY TIPS FOR INTEGRATING MEDITATION INTO YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE:
Set a focus To maintain your attention during the practice, it helps to set a focus in your meditation. I usually use the flow of breath for this. Notice the flow of your breath, feel it at the tip of your nose and feel the up and down of your chest. You don't have to control your breathing forcefully: it usually settles after a few breaths. Alternatively, you can take your body on a journey or visualise something, e.g. a place where you feel particularly good. This way you have a focal point that you can always come back to when the clouds come.
Routine, routine, routine It is best to combine your meditation with an existing part of your daily routine. This increases the likelihood of you sticking to it. For example, the time whilst the water for your morning cup of tea is boiling; straight after waking up before you turn on your mobile phone; or when you come home directly after work.
Your feel-good place Find your position If you want to do a seated meditation, it is helpful to find "your position". For most people, the lotus position or sitting cross-legged is not possible for long periods without some type of support. Don't be too hard on yourself, as long as you adopt an upright but relaxed position in which your breathing can flow. This can be on the floor with cushions, on a chair with a backrest or even standing up.
Just like a fixed time, a set place can also help to integrate meditation into your routine. It is best to choose a place where you feel comfortable and are not going to be disturbed. It doesn't even have to be at home, maybe on the park bench, on the way to the office or during your jog?
Be flexible Through meditation you learn to be flexible with yourself and your thoughts, it also helps to be flexible with your meditation. Sometimes it will not be possible to mediate for ten minutes. The good news is that you can meditate anywhere, whether in the park, on the train or on holiday at the beach. Just close your eyes for a moment, pause and focus on your breathing – notice what is happening inside you without pressure or compulsion. One minute is enough to see the sun peek through the clouds again.
1 Find an upright but comfortable position. 2 Notice your flow of breath, the rise and fall of your chest. 3 Don't get angry if a thought pops into your mind. Simply direct your attention back to your breathing. 4 Repeat steps 2 & 3 for as long as you have time. 5 …and now you are meditating!

Selfish is not the one who takes care of himself, but the one who has failed to do so and now expects it from others. (translated from the German book "Die Stimme des Herzens" – The voice of the heart – by Safi Nidiaye)
How much are you at peace with yourself? And how much do you care about yourself? Self-compassion is not about ego or selfishness: it protects you from being too harsh on yourself. If you are always trying to live up to the expectations of others and constantly trying to please everyone, but do not look after yourself, you may lack self-compassion. In the pursuit of self-compassion, mindfulness can be a helpful aid: it can teach you to treat yourself with appreciation and recognition, to acknowledge yourself as you are and enjoy life to its fullest. Even small moments of mindfulness in everyday life can help you to catch your breath and to bring balance back to your mind, body and soul. To help, we have compiled some self-care tips for you.
Self-care for your body: · Go for a walk · Go hiking · Ride your bike · Take a nap · Take a bubble bath · Wear your favourite perfume · Go swimming · Treat yourself to a cup of tea and enjoy every sip · Just do nothing for 5 minutes · Stay hydrated by drinking water · Dance through your home just for the fun of it · Play with a dog · Let someone give you a hug
Self-care for your soul: · Meet with loved ones · Let your thoughts meander and daydream · Light your favourite scented candle · Listen to your favourite music · Watch the sunset · Cook your favourite dish
Page 19
· Treat yourself to something sweet or a glass of wine · Keep a journal · Lie in the grass and watch how the clouds in the sky pass by. · Buy some flowers
Self-care for your mind: · Switch off your mobile phone · Practise yoga · Read a book or a newspaper · Learn to meditate · Get creative · Learn to play an instrument or a new language · Get enough sleep · Be inquisitive · Play memory games

You don't need much to allude to your belief in stylish understatement and a sense of flawless design, a purist bike like the Swagger is enough. Its visually tidy and functionally perfect frame directly conveys the pure joy of cycling – with components as practical as they are durable, such as the 7-speed hub gear set. Colour-coordinate parts such as tyres and saddle form part of this visual statement of course.
Just to want to get from A to B quickly or go on a short tour with your friends? No matter what a bike is used for, what is paramount for me is the mix of style and functionality. Because let's face it, everyone strives to ride a bike that makes it easy to get around without getting frustrated about something every few metres. But at the same time, nobody wants to be smiled at for their stylish folding bike when they are actually dressed for an intensive sports training session.
Key facts about me: My name is Felix, I'm 26 years old, I'm a federal police officer by profession, and a part-time content creator on Instagram. In my free time I do a lot of functional strength training. Since I'm honestly not a fan of cardio training, cycling is the perfect alternative for me. Here I can decide for myself how much
effort I want to put in. With running, for example, there is only "strenuous" and "even more strenuous". Fun aside, I like to ride my bike and especially in the summer I'm really out and about on my bike a lot. For example, if I want to go to the city for a short time to get to the gym, I use the bike as my short warm-up. The bike is also perfect for small shopping trips. And still look good in the process? Totally! The "Swagger" from EXCELSIOR promises this. For me, this bike exudes sportiness, along with a sense of style. I personally like the colour as well as its simple retro look. The nature of my job means the aspect of fitness is also important in my private life. After all, there is a civil servant's duty to keep healthy. For me it means that I am legally obliged to stay healthy. Now, of course, the term "healthy" can be interpreted very broadly, but for me it means both being able to perform my work and to withstand a certain amount of stress. Most of my unit's assignments are physically very strenuous. Working
hours of 13 hours per day are not uncommon and depending on the reason for the assignment, there may be further physical stresses. Therefore, it is all the more important to keep fit and, if possible, to become even fitter. In my free time, apart from being physically active, I also love to take photos. Mostly I take photos for my own Instagram feed, but also for cooperation partners. Especially in a city like Berlin, there are cool photo spots practically on every corner, and because of the parking situation, it doesn't make much sense to always use the car to get from one place to another. What's the solution? My EXCELSIOR "Swagger". It provides me with flexibility and in the best case I can even take some cool pictures together with my bike. All in all, I am more than satisfied with my bike. I can integrate it into almost all aspects of my life, and therefore it's the perfect companion for me.

Fixies date back to the mid-1980s when bicycle couriers made them popular, and bicycles like the Snatcher are made for such hard-core types too. The robust and durable nature of the fixed speed wheels means their intense ride sensation can be felt directly. Simply because you have to keep pedalling. With the flip-flop rear hub, all you need to do to transform the bike from fixie to a single-speed bike is to turn the rear wheel. You alone will continue to be responsible for the speed.

Our Sputter is practical, but much more a way of life. When you dictate the pace solely through your own muscle power and cadence, you will directly feel what you are doing; especially when the stable aluminium frame directly transfers the pedal forces onto the road. The Sputter is as stylishly reduced as its propulsion method is simple. That's the name of the game and practical too: because what isn't there doesn't have to be replaced at any point. Sometimes less is genuinely more.

Function alone is not everything. The aesthetics of cycling can be experienced simply and directly with a minimal form such as the Dandy. So, for a stylish amble around town by bike, where it's not a matter of meeting deadlines, you really don't need gears. It is more the colour-matched attachments on the classic steel frame in ponderosa green are matched in such a way. If you want to be even more of a purist, simply turn the rear wheel with its flip-flop hub and ride with fixed gear.

Going backwards to move forwards One short but firm push on the pedal back and the Sturmey Archer S2-Duomatic Kickback hub shifts from one gear to the other. It couldn't be simpler or more subtle to change gears. And so, the Duomatic is not only a gear set but also a statement about the Gaudy. No gear cable to interfere with the fresh pastel turquoise and the reduced flair of the steel frame, everything is set up for a relaxed ride.
Hamburg, you are now my hood... Hi folks, I'm Max, I'm 25 years old and recently joined the ranks of the self-employed. As the owner of a content & social media agency I am often on the road in my day-to-day business as a photographer/ videographer at cross-fit sports events and, incidentally, somehow also an influencer. I live life to the full and I want to improve myself constantly. I am fully into trends, never want to standstill and am always in the middle of happenings rather than a spectator. So, it was actually clear early on that my birthplace, Brunswick, would one day become too small for me. By chance, a business customer and good friend of mine told me that a room in his flat would become available. My recollections of that day can be summarised as follows: I got in my car, drove to Ikea and bought some furniture. Then I rented a van and moved to Hamburg. The rest is told quickly, because I have been living in this beautiful city for a well over a year now. @maximilian.kelm
Page 32
It would be a lie if I said that I hadn't been afraid to take this step. Away from Braunschweig, where I grew up and know every spot like the back of my hand. Away from all my friends and now ...? Well, now let's go to the big city, where I only know a few people fleetingly. Can I manage that financially too? It's a well-known fact that living and life in Hamburg is very expensive. All in all, I quickly discarded threw my doubts, ventured out of my comfort zone and moved to my new abode in Hamburg. I work a lot in my job, so I'm actually always working. I love my job and I hardly have any free time, but that doesn't matter, because my job is my passion. I have goals and dreams and I work towards them every day. Even though my nights are short and being self-employed has aged me by 30 years, I love every day. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It just makes so much fun. Being self-employed and the 24/7 working mentality that comes with it, I didn't really have time to settle in Hamburg. Sure, I've been to Schanzenviertel and the Alster, but I hadn't been able to soak up the true Hamburg vibe yet. And then EXCELSIOR came into play, that was the game changer! I'd never had a bicycle and because of my lifestyle and job, which involves travelling all over
Germany by car or train, cycling was not my favourite means of transport. But to get from A to B in Hamburg, especially around Speicherstadt (in the city centre), a bicycle is just awsome. And it is the perfect way to get to know Hamburg, its streets, corners and parks. I really like the colour of the bike and especially the colour of the rims and I personally find the model extremely suitable. I had not ridden a bike for 10 years – but that is something you never forget.
As a passionate photographer, I always have my camera with me wherever I go. So, I chuck my camera in my backpack, swing onto my EXCELSIOR Snatcher and pootle through the city. I must have gotten lost hundreds of times, burned 1,000 calories and taken even more pictures. Page 33
But that was great! By getting lost, you get to know your new home, discover one or the other cool place and are away from the tourists and the city's hot spots. And that's what I have been doing over and over again ever since. The bike is simply fantastic and offers me sooooo many benefits in the urban jungle. I don't get stuck in traffic jams, I do something for my fitness, because I am moving, I don't have the annoying search for a parking space (is really bad in Hamburg!!!) and I'm not bound to the timetable of the underground and the S-Bahn trains. In short, My Snatcher means I am mega flexible on the road. And if I discover a cool spot, I just stop for a moment, whip the camera out of my backpack and take a snap. This creates beautiful and spontaneous – in the moment – vibrant photos, not staged. I love that. And I got to know and love Hamburg. This means everything has been done properly. My conclusion about the SNATCHER: · Fully lightweight · Excellent value for money · Its flip-flop hub gives you more flexibility · Slick design without any unnecessary frills

Food to make you happy Are you grumpy, unable to focus or nervous? Did you know that the food we eat can influence our mood?
Everyone knows this – when our mood heads towards rock bottom on dull days, we like to reach for chocolate or other sweets. No wonder, because both sugar and fat can influence the production of the happiness hormone serotonin in the body, which gives us a short-term happiness boost. In the long term, however, industrial sugar in particular is said to have a negative influence on our mood and damage our psyche.
Fortunately, there are plenty of other and, above all, healthier mood boosters than chocolate – foods that contain valuable substances that do the body good in the long term and lift spirits. And this is where mood food, also known as soul food, comes in. In addition to the many approaches for a more mindful life, such as outdoor exercise, meditation and mindfulness training, the subject of nutrition is often overlooked or neglected. However, it is one of the simplest and most effective methods.
We will show you which foods you can eat happily, and which recipe will help you to boost your concentration.
Ginger shot with lemon – concentration booster and pick-me-up
1 Juice the lemons. 2 Peel and coarsely dice the ginger, place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. 3 Sieve the ginger shot if needed and then fill
Ingredients: · 100g ginger · 3 lemons · 50ml naturally cloudy apple juice · 50ml agave syrup (alternatively: maple syrup or honey)
into a bottle. This will keep in the refrigerator for a few days. Shake well before use! Tip: Depending on your taste preferences, you can refine the ginger shot with a little cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cardamom or turmeric too.
Page 35
Foods for every mood: · Healthy high-calorie option – avocado · Good catch – fish · Hard shell, valuable core – nuts · Mood booster – dried fruit · Happiness enhancer – chilli · Miracle root – ginger · Berry-strong fruit – fruit and berries

With the "Chillax" you have the choice whether you want to chill with the beach cruiser or relax a little. It doesn't really matter, because there is a lot of relaxation to be had when cruising along. This is clear from the chopper-like riding position and wide handlebars. And it doesn't have to be a beach promenade in California, the way to the ice-cream parlour or to the lake is just the same. Everything you need for a day at the lake can be placed in the basket in front of the handlebars.
Uni
IS A COMBINATION OF JOY AND STRESS
For me, university life means meeting my friends, laughing with each other, hanging out together and simply enjoying the time together. Especially now in summer with the warm temperatures, we meet more often on campus, exchange news or go swimming with friends at the lake and sip on cocktails in the evening. But university doesn't just mean fun, it also means learning, self-discipline and exam stress. Sometimes it can be quite hard juggling everything and to stay focussed during lectures without your thoughts distracting you. But with a few different approaches, I quickly regain my focus. Every morning when I get ready for university, I grab my mobile phone and turn on my "Happy Hits" playlist. The cheerful beats motivate me immediately and give me a good start to the day.
Cycling Being a student means my bike is my companion for the entire day. First thing in the morning, I get in the saddle and dash off to uni. After a morning of lectures, I have to go shopping by bike and then go home. In the afternoon, I get back on my beloved "Juicy" to meet my friends for coffee and discuss some of our university projects. During exams, it is especially important for me to bring some variety into my everyday life, when I am otherwise sitting in the library from morning to evening poured over my books. It helps me a lot to improve concentration or reduce stress by just sitting on my bike and starting to pedal. The fresh air and the exercise do me good and clear my head for a while. I prefer to ride through the forest of along the lake to escape the stress of the city and let nature take its Page 46
effect on me. It takes my mind off things and lets me switch off.
Sport Besides cycling, I also do a lot of sport to keep my body fit and healthy for the daily challenges and stress situations it is exposed to every day. Especially when sitting at a desk, as mentioned above, you quickly adopt a bad posture. In order to prevent this happening, I do strength and endurance sports, mainly to strengthen my muscles, but also to become fitter in everyday life. If I can't get to the gym, I do a little workout at home. I quickly grab my mat, pick out a few exercises and off I go. After sport, I go through a short stretching routine to make my muscles more powerful and improve my mobility. Afterwards, I can lean back for a moment, take a deep breath and I'm focussed again.
My personal ritual to fall asleep without any stress and worries is to make a delicious tea and nestle in bed in the evening. I use a journal to review the day by writing down positive experiences and things for which I am grateful. This means my thoughts are organised once again and I can fall asleep calmly.
Let your creative streak run wild
fore and after, I can see directly what my efforts have achieved and the end result gives me a positive feeling.
In my free time, I also love to take pictures. I love testing out new feature on the camera or standing in front of it myself. The subsequent editing of the pictures cultivates my creativity. I also find it very fascinating what you can get out of the pictures with different settings and photo editing programs. When comparing be-
In addition, you can spread a little happiness among your friends or family by giving them these pictures as a gift. So, why not grab your camera or smartphone, capture beautiful moments and let your creative streak run wild.

My different approaches allow me to forget the stress of uni for a while and recharge my batteries so I can work more efficiently again afterwards. Text: Ilka, 23, from Bremen

Modern Swan The Swan Urban interprets the tried-andtested wave frame design of a ladies' bike with a single but bulky aluminium frame tube. Apart from that, it retains the familiar look of Swan series by EXCELSIOR. The only difference is that the step-through is even lower and therefore more manageable. Its equipment remains as functional as its overall look remains as tidy.
CREATING SOMETHING NEW
in the now!
Do you find it incredibly difficult to simply switch off the negative mind chatterbox? No problem, a little creativity will help you to forget the world around you. Creativity and mindfulness have a lot in common, you might even think they go hand in hand through our lives. While creativity provides more peace in our minds and acts like a kind of meditation, mindfulness is the breeding ground for creative works and ideas. For example, we cannot paint what we have not consciously seen and cannot express what we have not consciously felt. At EXCELSIOR, we, like many of you, combine cycling with a sense of freedom. How about capturing this feeling creatively, e.g. in the form of a cool thread and nail art version of a bike? Try it yourself and get a piece of freedom into your own home.
Bike thread and nail art / DIY instructions What you need: · Wood panel (alternatively: old wooden board or wooden disc) · · Template · Adhesive tape · Nails (e.g. 1.2 x 20 mm) · Hammer · Threads in different colours · Scissors · Artificial or dried flowers
3 Using the hammer, now hammer in nail by nail, along the black lines at equal intervals. 4 Once you have hammered in all nails, you can tear out the template. 5 Now, it's time to introduce some colour. Attach the thread to a nail at any point with a knot and thread it crosswise around the nails. 6 When you are finished with one colour, knot the end to a nail again and cut off the excess thread with the scissors. Repeat this until the whole picture has colour. 7 Finally, the bike is decorated with a few flowers. Just put some artificial or dried flowers into the bike basket and your thread and nail artwork is complete!
Instructions: 1 First you need a template. You can either draw it yourself or simply look on the Internet for a suitable motif and print it out. 2 Place the template on your wooden background in the way you want the picture to be positioned later. If necessary, fix the template in place using some adhesive tape.

Timeless design Good design is not subject to fashion; it is timeless. First-class ride characteristics do not go out of fashion, especially if they come from such an elegantly curved frame named "swan neck". However, it is not just the quiet riding characteristics it offers in such a practical position. Classically made of steel, it is robust and durable too. Actually, there is no need for any further arguments, but appearances certainly count.

Seeing the world through children's eyes Things we can learn from children
When was the last time you climbed a tree, took a running jump into a puddle or walked barefoot through the freshly mowed meadow while watching butterflies and beetles with unadulterated enthusiasm? When did you last look at the world from a child's perspective? As adults we are constantly thinking about our lives and our everyday life. This is a good thing, because after all, we have to plan our lives to a reasonable extent and have them under control. But every now and then it doesn't hurt to shift our perspective a little and see the world through the eyes of a child. Surely you have often found that when walking with a child that it takes a surprisingly long time to get anywhere. It is fascinating what children discover along the way. Full of curiosity, they encounter things and look at them much more consciously than we do – things that are of secondary importance to us. Here a ladybird, there a dandelion, there are still many beautiful daisies and look, there's a big leaf there that has to come too. Does this sound familiar? Children are full of courage, curiosity and drive – great qualities that sometimes get lost with adulthood. What we can learn from children has nothing to do with knowledge. It is their way of living life. Time to rediscover the child's view of the world, which is full of adventures just waiting to be discovered.
Things we can learn from children:
"A child can always teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires." Paulo Coelho

For younger drivers Why should Mum be the only one allowed to ride through town in style? The Swan Retro Youth is not just for style-conscious youngsters, but it is very practical too. It dictates the upright ride position with which children have a safe overview when in road traffic. The saddle and handlebars can grow a good deal with the rider. But that's not all; the classic frame offers everything like its bigger cousin: Practicality with the mudguards and the gear set, safety and brightness with the LED light.
Experience nature with children Nature is the greatest and most important playground of all for children. It exposes children to numerous and complex sensory impressions and promotes physical and mental development enormously. The different shapes, colours, smells, surfaces and tastes of nature offer so many possibilities for play that cannot be replaced or replicated by any man-made playground. In addition, the sensual experience of nature creates an emotional basis for a mindful approach to nature and the living organisms within it.
How about combining the next family bike tour with an interesting game of colours in nature? All you need is a sheet of paper and different coloured crayons. Take the sheet and draw small circles with these colours: white, yellow, red, orange, blue, green, purple, brown and black. The aim of the game is to now find these colours in nature, for example a green leaf or a blue flower. The corresponding object is now drawn on the sheet of paper. To add more excitement to the game, form two teams. Who will find all the colours first?
Tip: If you like, you can take a flower of any colour home with you and place it flat between newspapers. Then place some heavy books are on top and let the flowers dry in them. After approx. 2 weeks you have a nice colourful collection and memory at the same time. The flowers can now be stuck on paper or stored in a glass or picture frame.
Page 66
1 To make about 20 seed bombs, mix 3 packets of different native flower seeds in a small bowl. It is best to use seeds for flowers, which are particularly popular with bees and bumblebees. 2 Place 200g of potting soil in a large bowl, loosen it up and remove any bark, root or small branch remnants. Then add 200g of clay and the seeds and mix thoroughly so that the seeds are spread through the mixture as evenly as possible. 3 Gradually pour a little water into the bowl until the mixture has a texture that can be formed into small walnut-sized balls. Now spread the finished balls on newspaper and leave them to dry.
Watch out flower lovers – it's about to get colourful! Ever heard of seed bombs? These are small balls of seeds, soil and clay powder. These spheres are used in urban spaces for creating greenery in the public (grey) spaces, on garden terraces or balconies. Making these seed bombs is a lasting pleasure for both small and tall gardeners alike and has a great education value about our interactions with nature. And this is how to make your own seed bombs:
Tip: Using cookie cutters you can create some fun shapes.
After about two days the seed bombs are ready to be 'discarded' or given away.
Page 67
Please note that it is generally forbidden to discard seedballs in public places, gardens and nature reserves. Instead, just ask the local authorities or the owner of a brownfield site what is allowed. In fact, most local authorities are happy to see green spaces being beautified. In some areas it is even possible to sponsor smaller green areas and plant them.

Make your own electrolyte drink simple and the perfect thirst quencher When the summer comes and temperatures start to rise, any refreshment will come be welcome. In general, you should never neglect the topic of fluids and drinks, because it is precisely when you are constantly moving that your body loses a lot of water. However, important electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium are also lost during intensive exercise.
for yourself and simply follow the following basic recipe:
With a self-mixed electrolyte drink you can replenish your mineral reserves and at the same time consume a revitalising refreshment during the bike ride. Try it
Preparation Mix all the ingredients together until the sugar and salt have completely dissolved in the water.
Ingredients · 1 litre of still, cold drinking water · 1 level teaspoon of cooking salt · 2 tablespoons of grape sugar (caster sugar, cane sugar or honey can be used instead)
Page 73
Tip: For a better taste experience, you can mix up to half of the drink with other fluids that should be as rich in vitamins and minerals as possible. Ideal choices here include orange juice, apple juice, herb and fruit tea, or simple a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon.
Cheers!

Easy mounting As easy to mount as it looks. The most important feature at first is the low stepthrough for all those who simply want to get on the bike. This is why the aluminium frame has its lowest point directly in front of the bottom bracket. But why not make the most important feature a virtue and adapt the frame tubes to the curves of the wheels for a unique look? Mainly as this results in such an upright and comfortable riding posture.

My bag from the tree a unique piece of nature Whether as a sports bag or a shopping bag – these stylish jute bags are gaining in popularity. The vegan cork applications make them an excellent alternative to leather while being unique too. The 100% renewable and recyclable natural product also has similar properties to animal leather: it is flexible, breathable and water repellent
And this is how cork is made: When harvested, the bark of a cork tree is carefully peeled off the tree. The positive thing is – this process does not hurt anyone, not even the tree. On the contrary – peeling the cork even stimulates further growth of the tree. The tree can then bind new carbon dioxide by growing a new layer of cork, which is then aired, steamed and cooked. This process reduces pollutants and results in higher elasticity and lower density. To produce the cork textile, either whole pieces are cut from the bark and glued together, or the raw material is simply compacted and applied to the fabric. The special thing here is that the different grains mean no product looks like the next one and is therefore absolutely unique.
