The Reluctant Dragon Quantum Theatre
From September we will be extending our box office and café opening hours to 5pm.
Quantum Theatre presents an enchanting adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s, The Reluctant Dragon a touching, sweet and funny tale of bravery, friendship and derring-do for all the family. “You’ve got to fight him some time or other you know, ’cos he’s St George and you’re the dragon…” When a dragon is discovered up on the Downs, the Boy is not in the least surprised. He's always known there was a dragon cave, so it seems only right for a dragon to be living in it. But this particular dragon is not a bit like the ones in fairy tales - this one writes poetry and doesn’t like fighting! When the town-folk send for St. George to slay the dragon, the boy needs to come up with a clever plan to save his friend and convince the townsfolk to accept him…
Keep an eye on our website for fun kids' activities at our theatre to keep the little ones entertained and fed after school! We're also showing the following Disney films throughout the Autumn:

Troilus and Cressida Filmed live from the RSC
The Christians THE CHRISTIANS took the British pop charts by storm in the late 80s/early 90s. Now celebrating 30 years since the release of their debut album, THE CHRISTIANS are touring in the UK, France and Spain to remind you that lead singer Garry Christian's voice still very much deserves The Mirror's title of ‘one of the best voices in pop’ and their back catalogue includes many, many hits you know and love. You just need to remind yourself how great it feels to hear them again.
Troilus and Cressida swear they will always be true to one another, but their innocence is tested and exposed to the savage corrupting influence of war, with tragic consequences. The Greek army is encamped under the walls of Troy and, at the point at which the play begins, the war has reached stalemate. The Greeks are quarrelling amongst themselves. Achilles, their greatest champion, refuses to fight and has withdrawn to his tent with his lover, Patroclus. Almost immediately Cressida betrays Troilus with the Greek Diomedes and, discovering this, Troilus is plunged into despair. With the fall of Troy certain, Troilus vows revenge on Achilles.

We welcome and encourage children to the Elgiva Theatre, however some events or shows are not suitable for very young children. We endeavour to highlight and clearly indicate age suitability, but as we have to take the advice of incoming production companies who give us their recommended age suitability for their own shows, we cannot accept responsibility if patrons find an event unsuitable for their children. We suggest that if patrons are unsure as to whether an event or show may be unsuitable for their own children, that they ‘play safe’ and don’t book tickets. All patrons, including children, must purchase and occupy a seat and we have 20 booster seats available for very small children.
By phone: Please call the Box Office on 01494 582900. Please have your credit card details ready. We accept most major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard and Solo. All bookings are subject to a booking fee of £1 per transaction. We would be grateful if you would refrain from calling the Box Office 30 minutes prior to a performance as staff will be giving priority to personal bookings.*
Terms and conditions To comply with fire regulations, all customers must hold a valid ticket for the event. To avoid disturbing the audience and the performers, latecomers may not be allowed entry until a suitable break in the performance at the discretion of the Duty Manager. No cameras (including mobile phones) or recording devices will be allowed into any performance unless prior permission has been granted by the management. The Elgiva’s management reserves the right to refuse admission to any part of the theatre or site. The Elgiva frequently makes its facilities available for hire. Whilst we attempt at all times to safeguard your interests, the Elgiva can accept no responsibility for the quality, content, discount policies or pricing of these events. Ticket holders consent to filming and sound recording as members of the audience.
By e-mail: Please e-mail your booking requirements to boxoffice@elgiva.com and include: your name, address, e-mail contact, daytime tel. no., date and time of the show/film, number of tickets required and any acceptable alternatives.* *Please note that tickets will be held at the Box Office for collection unless a £1.50 postage fee is added to your ticket total.
Online: at www.elgiva.com. On-line purchases are subject to a booking fee of £1 per transaction. Some discounts (groups of 10+ and family tickets) are not available on-line.
Exchanges and refunds In common with normal theatre practice, we regret that tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged after purchase, except when an event is cancelled.
Accessibility Infra red induction loop system in the theatre: please ask the Box Office for a headset. Level access to the front of and throughout the building. Disabled toilet facility. Four wheelchair spaces in the auditorium. Please inform the Box Office when booking if any of your party is a wheelchair user. If you have difficulty with stairs ask for rows A, B, C, D or E – and please book early!
Data protection Ticketing records are held on computer to enable us to offer the best possible service to our customers. The information is held only to send you details of forthcoming events or inform you of any changes affecting your booking. We do not pass names and addresses on to third parties without your permission. If you no longer wish to receive mail from us, please phone 01494 582900 and we will amend our database immediately.
