The Glenn Miller Story starring Tommy Steele Tue 27 September - Sat 1 October

It’s been 70 years since Glenn Miller vanished over the English Channel during WWII. Did he crash? Was he shot down? Brought to the stage in a brand new musical spectacular is the life, fame and vanishing of America’s most famous big band leader .

Music legend Tommy Steele commands the stage as only a very great star can in in this extraordinary tale, featuring a spectacular 16 piece orchestra playing the big band era hits In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Pennsylvania 6-5000 and many more.

Tommy’s legendary career boasts countless hit singles, Hollywood movies and award-winning stage musicals such as Singin’ in the Rain at the London Palladium, where he was recently honoured with a prestigious plaque celebrating the fact that he remains the theatre’s most successful ever star.

The Shawshank Redemption Mon 10 - Sat 15 October

Based on the Stephen King’s novella , this thrilling stage production examines the desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security facility.

The 1994 feature film, regularly voted Britain’s favourite ever movie, starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and was nominated for seven Academy Awards.

Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated at the notorious Shawshank facility, he strikes up an unlikely friendship with the prison fixer, and things take a slight turn for the better. However, when Warden Stammas decides to bully Andy a desperate plan is quietly hatched…

Peter Pan

Don’t miss this year’s fun-filled pantomime, Peter Pan. Following the huge success of Jack and the Beanstalk, the same creative team are back with a show packed with bags of audience participation and spectacular special effects.

With tickets flying out the window, be sure to get them quick, the croc is ticking!

Relaxed Performance: Fri 16 December 2pm A relaxed performance is about welcoming children with special needs (including Autistic Spectrum Conditions and/or learning disabilities) and their families to the theatre to a performance where those needs are accounted for with a more relaxed atmosphere and some changes to the production itself if necessary eg: lowering of lights or sound at certain points of the show.

BEHIND THE SCENES The Hawth is proud that for almost 20 years visually impaired patrons have been able to enjoy Audio Described performances, including touch tours at selected shows.

Audio description is a live commentary through a discrete headset, which gives information on the visual aspects of a show, from the set, props and costumes to the actor’s movements and expressions. The descriptions are all given to fit in with dialogue and music and build a complete picture of the action on stage.

The team of volunteers work hard behind the scenes to prepare for each Audio Described performance, beginning months before the show arrvies at The Hawth. They meet and greet the patrons, giving out the free headsets necessary to listen to the audio description. If there is a touch tour before the show then visually impaired patrons and their companion have the opportunity to be guided around the stage to feel the stage sets, props and costumes. Finally it’s time to put all the hard work into practice as the show begins!

Disabled Access

The Hawth car park has assigned disabled parking, as well as free parking for cars and coaches.

There is level access into the theatre, which has adapted toilet facilities.

Tickets in the front stalls can be purchased for wheelchair users and their companions (available for half price at all Hawth promotions).
