HHHH THE CHRONICLE
Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated at the notorious Shawshank facility, he learns that no one can survive alone and strikes up an unlikely friendship with the prison fixer, Red. Things take a turn for the better, however when Warden Stammas decides to bully Andy into subservience, a plan is quietly hatched...
PAUL NICHOLLS’ impressive TV career has barely seen him off our screens for 20 years: From Jake Wicks in EastEnders to D.S. Sam Casey in ITV’s Law and Order and more recently starring opposite Sheridan Smith in the acclaimed The C Word.
Based on the 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, this thrilling stage production examines desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security facility. The 1994 feature film starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
JACK ELLIS is maybe ‘best hated’ for his potrayal of the villainous prison warden Jim Fenner in ITV’s Bad Girls, and as D.I. Tony Muddyman in Prime Suspect.
BEN ONWUKWE boasts a 30 year stage career including leading roles with The RSC and the Royal Court, and eleven years on TV as Recall McKenzie in London’s Burning.

BASED ON THE PARAMOUNT PICTURES FILM WRITTEN BY BRUCE JOEL RUBIN
Walking back to their apartment late one night a tragic encounter sees Sam murdered and his beloved wife Molly alone, in despair and utterly lost. But with the help of a phony storefront psychic Sam, trapped between this world and the next, tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving her from grave danger… The Double Academy Award winning movie is a huge success story, both critically and at the box office, where it was the highest grossing film in the year of its release. It starred the late Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore,
Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg and was directed by Jerry Zucker. Bruce Joel Rubin’s script won the Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay and Whoopi Goldberg won the Oscar® for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The film’s most iconic and moving scene was famously performed to The Righteous Brother’s Unchained Melody, which also features in the musical. Taking its inspiration from the classic movie, this innovative reimagining will feature an expanded book, new music and original staging.
